We can use this thread to decide next leader to use. I am thinking Romans next on a pangea! I am wondering if we should up it to immortal and keep a unchanged map. Let's play out Qin first. :)

Wouldn't be the Emperor's Cookbook now, would it?

Oh, and who's to say there would actually be Iron in your vicinity.... or even on the map

Other ideas:

Montezuma
Hatty
Stalin/Peter (not Catherine)
Izzy
Alexander
Joao
SB
Washington

Okay that is the next 8 cookbooks decided in that order after the Roman. Perhaps with Ethiopians and Germans added in that list. Perhaps after Stalin/Peter. We need to try and visit all leaders.

As for Romans. I wouldnt remove iron from a game completely. Better just to make the option less appealing. ;)

Thankyou for your continues support Kossin on these series. Your map making skills and comments are always welcome. I do like a more active role in games instead of just watching at the sideline. :)

Ooh! I vote for João! Exp/Imp really makes you think about your settling rate, and learning how to time settling well is a skill that is very difficult to master (long way off myself!) and very important. Plus, then you won't have to play against João! The lack of an offensively powerful UU will make for a more interesting game in the long run too.

Either German would be good too (or Charlie, for that matter).

Speaking of immortal, though, I haven't seen an Immortal university game in a while. What ever happened to those?

I think Soirana was running Immortal Cook book and Ignorant Teacher/TMIT were doing Immortal university.

I think any JoaII game should give option of a good rex so we can learn how to recover such a rex too.

REX isn't always the best strategy. I think the real question about REX is not how to but when to.

If you do it right, you don't have to recover period.

Bump for great justice!

Gauging interest for another one of these before I start mapmaking!
Leader suggestions welcome, or is the list slightly above interesting enough?

I'll be up for these, once summer activities die down. I was just transitioning to Emperor difficulty on the NC series, so could definitely benefit from this.

I think I will have a lot more time now SGOTM 11 is drawing to a close. I would like to try it at immortal so to see what the level is like. if we pick the best saves it will still be a challenge anyway to some extent.

I think the bullpen needs more of a intro. Probably plagiarize a bit of stuff from the old Monarchist's bullpen - although I do see that you have linked it.

Here's my thoughts for next map:

-Immortal difficulty
This way the map doesn't require cooking to be a good learning experience due to the format.
-Epic Speed vs Normal Speed
Not my call. Maybe Epic this time around since it will be a bit harder than previous games.
-Leader
I suggest a "strong" leader from the list for this game which should help with Immortal difficulty: Hatshepsut
-Huts/Events off
-other things to my discretion ;)

Hatshepsut is a always fun and I think the Spiritual trait will help on IMM. Creative is always great.

-other things to my discretion

can't wait to see that :)

Why not add choose religions.

It can tell you about which AIs are out their that you haven't met yet (confu=Wang, Islam =Mansa or Arabia, etc.) and it really spices up the game so you don't always have those typical hindu buddhist blocks. Its just preference. Don't add it if you don't want to.

Now what is the fun in that??? The main point of immortal is so we don't start restricting resources or do map changes to make things harder.

I doub't the first couple of rounds will be easy but we can see how everyone rises to the challenge. I think barbs will be a bit tough on immortal.

I guess at some point we may reach a deity cookbook. ;)
