ENES: World of Magic II

"DAMN IT!"

Those accursed idiots. The Grandmaster of the Telvanni House, Visos, was annoyed, nay irritated.

"Those fools will destroy all that I've made this nation into,"
*sigh*
"Father, what do you mean?" A young boy of 9 sat by his father, innocence marked his forehead. His Father was holding a crumpled piece of paper, a report on todays casualties. The Private armies had flared up and open fighting had broken on the streets, The Telvanni House Hold was having difficulty maintaining order.

"I presume my illusion over the other households broke," His Father Grimiced.
"You used magic against the other houses?", The youngs boys widened in shock. Casting magic against other Houses when not in war was one of the crimes punishable by death.
Visos Smiled, " No my son, the simpliest, and best, illusions require no magic. They use Humans nature against himself."
The boy frowned, uncomprehending.
"Understand it like this, I surround myself with advisors and place men from different houses in high positions so they are too busy fighting each other trying to gain the upper hand. The of course means they are not fighting me to gain the real prize,"
"I understand, I think," The boy still looked puzzeled, Visos sighed, his son needed this education in real world affairs, but he was rather slow on the upkeep. His daughter seemed to be a lot smarter, but still....
"Obviously I got something wrong, and one side has become powerfull enough to strike," Thats not all Visos mused, since I can't tell which side is actually more powerfull, and i don't know who struck first.

"Watch and learn my son, Watch and learn,"

Orders sent. Get those orders in, everyone. I still see names that are not in green on the first page!

Thought for the day: "Peace; A period of cheating between two periods of Fighting,"

So was Peace an illusion or War an illusion? Ko'tar of House Andues was musing again. His studies lay one the floor, "Illusionist magic led to some unusual changes in a nation. Religion for instance had all but disappeared, a population always on the look out for swindlers who may or may not be using an illusion usually finds itself becoming non-religious, generally finding those spouting a Holy word wanting something like a donation.", not very inspiring stuff but part of his latest assingment.

He was reading a book one of his friends was trying to get published. It was merely just a list of points to ponder. His Friend insisted that they were quotes, but for the life of him he could not tell where he had thought them up.

Ko'tor just thought the bufuddle spell he cast on him last week might have been too strong. Although he must admit many strange had happened in recent years, for instance, his other friend had started screaming at this piece of paper shouting "99942, it doesn't make any sense!" Of course he hadn't heard from him in quite a while, in Fact whenever he went into his room there was this lingering smell of mouldy Cheese. He had told him that arguing with these fundemental laws made bad things happen.

On the other hand when he thought about it many of the most powerfull Illusionists had gone insane, unable to tell reality from illusion. This had resulted in the humurous episode when The old Recter of the college jumped off the clocktower screaming "I CAN FLY!".

He just couldn't pin it down. But something always compelled him to keep a tight clamp on all the magic he casted. He had a book with every single illusion spell he had cast, just in case. Of course last week he had got totally hammered and some idiot had created an illusionary copy, with some dangerous changes.

You know he thought, there is a very good reason so few people make it through Illusionist University. Half of them end up insane, minds unable to take it.

OOC: Just keeping the army size to magic user size in perspective ;)

To Rome Reborn
From House Telvanni and The Alligned great Houses.
We must regrefully decline your proposa, due to unforseen problems.

We would be happy to re-consider your offer in 4 years.

Story:

Elderad Mused on todays happenings. The Grandmaster of his house, Visos was requesting his help in calming down the populance. He was requesting the ecstasy spell again. This was the problem with having Houses and a Magocracy. Both Power Centres competed with each other for a persons loyalty.

Well it gave the nation a certain dynamic, kept the traders sharp.....

I really must do something about this. Someday. On the other hand one extremly usefull thing at the moment would be an external war, unite the Houses and Mages under one banner....

Elderad was Eyeing up New Rome.

i cant get orders in till tommorow morning

As long as that's tomorrow morning my time, that's fine. :D
But since you could write a post, why didn't you just write "no time, buy eco and military" or something in that vein?

It appears you did not fully understand our most recent communication. It was a formality asking how you wish to become our vassal.

Church Orders:

1 point to Economy
1 point to army training
Make military my primary science ("(Choose one of these to be 3/0/4)")

Have my bishops begin placing prayers(encantations) on homes, fields, etc to create a protective shield against the little demons. My holy knights and regular soldiers will help defend against any attacks as well. Hunt the demons down and extermiante any that are found.

In the capital city the Council gathers once more at the table to discuss grievous problems. It also gathers to overeat on donuts, drink booze and possibly work on solution to current problems./end shady music

Majestic 12 Council Hall

Shandar:Hear the Council is now in session!*hits table with one of those hammer thingies*
Mantis:Will you cut the formality crap?Every goddamn time you do it just because you get to use that little hammer of yours.
Shandar:I certainly DO NOT.
Mantis: Do too.
Shandar: Do not.
Mantis: Do too.
Shandar: Do not.
Aidra:Stop it you two,we have more important things to quarell about!!! Said Aidra, sighing at the same time....probably because she was the most mature memeber of the council, which was distressing.

Shandar:*ahem* Anyways a few problems have arisen since the last time we meet...for example the shiny metal man-beasts.
Ventari:So are their beasts or men?Famas do you know?
Famas: Do you think I'm a frackin analyst Ventari!?All we got is this sketch from Shadokarr's Phantom Warrior.*shows sketch to the council*

monster.png

Klovaris:YEEEEEEEAARRGHHHH!*faints*
Mantis:I know this is amusing, but we gotta stop him from doing that.He suffered too many blows to the head from the falls and its affecting his memory. In this council we have to preserve as much sanity as we can.Its a rare commodity these days I'm afraid...
Cygan:He's gone mad,MAD I SAY.I have examined him and he seemed to be suffering from something that the Ancients called narcolepsia.I manged to cure him thanks to the Ancient texts, but still doesnt save him from fainting when he's scared.I have a question though,is the warrior who drew that sketch disfigured?
Shadokarr:Silent my worriors are prrerffect!!! Shadokarr roundhouse kicks Cygan sending him flying 5 meters away

Ventari:Yes I see academic knowledge and intellect are valued highly in your elite unite Shadokarr.Seth any ideas on how to dispose of these metal man-beasts?Awwww hell no,who left the liqour cabinet unlocked!?
Seth:Mrrangh hungry need donuts.....need chocolate donuts MERAGAH!
Shandar:I'll take care of him."Seth listen to me you ingested a dangerous dose of alcohol."
Seth:Meeehh, piss off.The only dangerous amount is NONE!!!
Shandar:Why you little!!!*Shandahr proceeds to knock Seth unconscious with his hammer*
Shandar:Errm Now that we have that resolved lets continue the debate.

Borel: From the other end of the table, asleep Borel mumbled something while moving his hands in a grabbing motion.... "Mhhmm boobies mhmmm"
Piratos:Yarrr we needin to be talkin about our navy, namely the lack of one.'Ow do you expect me to plunder the wretched land blubin, scurvy vermins without a navy YARRR?
Klerikov:It is being taken care of my friend. Emerged from the shadows a spectral, purple blue, transparent image of Klerikov. He was rarely going to Council sessions physically present as he was extremly paranoid and away on long journies, instead he appeared there using his magic to spiritualize his image to Lyssa's tower.
Piratos:Yaarr I also requistion a piece of papirus, ink and severals shovels to bury the plundered treasures and then put their location on the papirus.
Aidra:Wait a second,to bury the plundred treasures and map their location???WTH!?All right this session has spiraled into chaos,we'll reconvene in 3 hourse when you people put yourselves together.
Shandar:Nooo I'm the Administrator with the hammer and I decide when we'll take a break. *waves the hammer around with a snobish attitude*
Aidra:>_<

Aidra in her great fury bizatch slapps Shandar and twists his arm...

Shandar:Oh mommy it hurts!!!Please stop, here's the the hammer thingy, take the Admin position, just stop ouch!
Aidra:Thank you. We'll all meet again in three hours.

Aidra: >_< I heard that, your in a world of hurt now Shandar!!!
Shandar:Crap....AIEEEEEE!!!! x_x

LAUGH! Loved your story, Cleric. Still, I don't think your story is as likely to grant you a bonus as a penalty. Majestic 12? More like the lunatic ones.

Well call it the Decmember the month when Chaos takes over the Council :)

UPDATE 2 – A.Y. 136

*You gain 159 belief!*
-Moderator is still grinning at this. :D

After the Olympian gods decimate a village that questioned them, many of the surrounding colonist settlements have decided to accept the gods, at least for the moment, and also because it means that Titans will stomp out the mudwaves that have been attacking them.

Ruling Lady Goriestar appears to have taken the complaints of her people to heart, although she is perhaps overdoing it a little when she renames the capital city to “G”. However, the people are somewhat more satisfied, and so Goriestar can begin supervising the growth of her nation.

In the Union of Cammane City-States (UCCS), several expeditions have been mounted to find the source of the plague that has been affects their TTSNBs. No mermen are sighted, but while the expeditions are ongoing, someone sneaks into the BEAST compunds and laboratory and steals bits of the dead ones.
Research on a cure has been rather erratic. The most experienced mages have been forgetful, while younger have suddenly had flashes of insight. Both groups deny that any transfer of ideas has taken place. However, a cure has been found, and all rejoice.

Queen Galena of Arkenaar institutes strict measures against the Grinning Death, which seems to have been banished from the continent. In the meantime, two small nations have arisen to the north and south of Arkenaar, founded by colonists wishing to maintain their independence from the growing Arkenaar nation.

The Tecno Union has had great success in destroying the golems while using Aeromancers to keep their warriors safe.

Spoiler :
There is no message here.

New Illryia trains a great number of Phantom Warriors to battle the white golems. By turning ethereal, they are able to locate the golems' weak points, and strike without fear of preemptive retaliation. Their Council is also seen to provide excellent leadership to the nation, while at the same time proving that they are just like common men.

The Blood Elves set up cunning ambushes for the northern barbarians. By separating them and calling down firestorms, the Blood Elves win several decisive military victories at little cost.

The Tylvanni nation attempts to investigate the source of the recent violent conflicts, but finds nothing but soldiers with sudden bloodlust. At the same time, Rome Reborn applies pressure from the east, causing the nation to grow ever more troubled.

The Church decisively asserts both its authority over, and its responsibility to, the surrounding settlements. Converts flock to them.

Meanwhile, the House of Leonhard faces further problems. Vigilante groups from the north have been attacking them. Some of their leaders are bathed in light, inspiring their troops to rally, so Leonhard's mages and demons simply befoul the land wherever the vigilantes march, turning the populace against the angelic vigilantes even as they are driven back northwards.

Seleucia Novus continues to be plagued by dragons. As their leader appears incapable of acting, the citiziens form a private militia and drive off the dragons, but at great cost both in terms of manpower and confidence.

News and stuff
News and info stuff:
-You can set up an intelligence service now, if you like. PM me, because it won't be in the stats. You can set it to spy on your own citiziens, another nation, or feed another intelligence service false information (assuming you know about it).
-For those wondering what the Agricultural Education stat does, it causes your population to grow faster. At certain population threshholds you get a free economy point.
-Military Education is factored in whenever your army or navy goes to war. It represents use of tactics, strategy. and the skill of your commanders.
-Scientific Education opens up little “techs” that will be revealed when someone reaches the appropriate level. Here's a preview for a level 4 tech: Modern Weapons – onetime spending of 1 eco pt to gain 3 levels of armal training.
-As Contempt discovered when he tried to train cavalry, there are no horses on this planet. There are two main options if you want to create mounted units, though. The first is a reptile looking like a legged snake (or an alligator without the jaws). It's rather slow, so the “charge” aspect of cavalry sort of disappears. (500 per spending pt.) The second is a huge wurm, about ten meters long. They need a rider to control them. You could turn a bunch loose in the general direction of enemies, but they'd mostly thrash around and not advance. (200 per spending pt.)
Yes, you can modify these in creative ways, as long as you clear it with me first.

Story bonuses:
TerrisH +10 Priests
Silver Steak +1 culture, +1000 infantry
Roddy +10 Techmagi, +1 Science
T.G.I.L +1 Armal training
human-slaughter +10 Horizon Warriors
Cleric +1 culture
Kal'thzar +10 Illusionists

House Telvanni uncovers an artefact of the Ancestors!
:p :mischief: The secret nation that really doesn't exist most certainly does not discover a secret artefact that they can use for secret activites that they are definitely not committing!
New Illryia uncovers an artefact of the Ancestors!
The Church uncovers an artefact of the Ancestors!

All the three “artefacts” are standalone, gigantic machines that the original colonists brought with them. You have the option of spending 1 eco point on figuring out what they do, or gaining 1 eco point by taking them apart and using the components.

Mappo in next post, you know the drill. It's, like, a huge drill.

Stats will be updated a little after the map.

Let there be drills!

Stats are updated now. Notify me if you think I did something wrong.
Most nations got a bonus economy point for reaching 50 000 population. Further bonuses will be awarded at 100k, 200k, 500k, 1m, 2m, 5m, and so on.

To clarify something: Economy is the only stat that you can spend no more than 1 pt/turn on. You can multiple economy points on anything else.

emu was bit too late with his orders, so I banked his points.

Great update!Chuck Norris FTW!!!MD Wurms :)

You are running out of time. The choice is simple - become our vassal and win glory with us, or oppose us and be crushed.

I must say, the response to the update was rather... underwhelming.

Let me try this: UPDATE TOMORROW! (j/k)

Seriously, though, what happened? Cleric said "great update", and nobody else seemed to care.
