ENES: World of Magic II

Us in Norway as well. We don't have "Boxing Day" the 25th, but open our gifts on the night of 24th. I guess it's different from country to country. Not that I really care. Just mentioning it. ;)

I received D2X for Christmas and got... rather distracted. ;)

UPDATE 3 – A.Y. 156
Fifteen years pass peacefully on this new world. Here are some of the highlights...
The House of Leonhard constructs a massive dark tower and rules the land with an ever harder iron fist.
Several new nations arise. It is now believed to be too late for any more to appear. (OOC: This NES is now closed, the update is taking too long already.)
The Blood Elves stamp out the northern barbarians, then begin construction of a huge temple.
Roddyna makes an agreement with Furey, dividing the island between them.
Arkenaar develops a new type of crystal that dminishes the weight of anything they are set into.
The Techno Union, bent on expansion, takes over the whole island they have settled on.
The Church tinkers methodically with the artifact of the Ancestors. It is revealed to be a material processor, which accepts any kind of plant biomass, and spits out sheets of extremely high quality and durability.
(If you weren't mentioned here, nothing special happened.)
The next five years are rather more eventful. Civil war breaks out in Dangal, between the traditionalists who maintain that anyone can practice magic as long as they are stoned, and the extremists who hold that mages must be insane to practice magic legally. The world response is either “WTH?” or “Who cares?”, and so there are very few casualties.
This self-assertive attitude spills over the strait to the northwest, prompting some uprisings against Leonhard's iron rule. (rebels displayed in red.) From there it heads north and west.
The new realm of Lokianica is spared, seeing as very little of the country lies more than a few weeks' ride from the capital, (or perhaps they are encouraging the rebelliong among their neighbours) but uprisings are common both in Bersia, where the upper class in the capital seems hated, and murmurs of independence are heard in the Cammane City-States Union.
The southern part of the Techno Union, too, feels little loyalty to the governors in the north, and starts rebelling.
Plague strikes the southern expanses of Duskmist.
For years New Rome has attempted to figure out what unseen source of power allows House Telvanni to laugh at the threat of invasion. After discovering that there is none, only that Telvanni's mages are masters of illusion who have kept New Rome at bay by deception, New Rome invades Telvanni. (-300 Newroman infantry, -500 Telvannian infantry, -3000 Telvannian population.)

Story bonuses:
Roddy +1000 infantry
Silver Steak +1 culture

Other stuff:
Illyria and Telvanni still have artifacts standing untouched.
Lokianica discovers an artifact.
Olympia discovers an artifact.
Everyone got a few random stat increases during the BT.

La mapa in next post. If thou shouldst posteth between el updato and la mapa, prepare thyself for my outpullage of ye Beftiary of Monfters.

Nobody posted. Good. ;)
EDIT: Stats are updated.

Good good. And w00t, what's with the suddenly overgrown nations? I guess BT had it's effect, but still. And what's with the green paprika floating in the northern seas? Is it edible? (Looks rather sickly green to me)

Whats all the red line things in the south west point of my island?

Dude, those are rebels, I think. Frankly, people are not content with your rule. I guess you need to work the loyalty up a few notches. ;)

Silver asked some questions about technology that I might as well answer here:
All techs can be researched by anyone at the appropriate Science level.
All techs take 1 turn, as though you spent your eco point on increasing stats.
They do not take effect on the turn you research them. (So you can't research Mass Levy I and buy extra army units in the same turn.)

P.S. Researching 5 techs will bring you to the next age.

i think all the food i'm eating because of christmas is making my brain slow.
could you explain what exactly this means
from my stats said:
Poor (3/0/5) (+1 this turn from 50 000 pop, +1 banked)
i think it means that i'm at level 3 eco, so i get to spend 3 a turn, that i have 0 already invested in reaching the next level, and that that next level will cost 5 total. but what's with the two +1s in the parentasies.
i was at 50k pop last turn i think, or is this bonus ongoing? and does this mean i have 4 eco to spend this turn?
and banked? did i bank it or is this leftovers from the BT? and does this mean i have 5 eco to spend now?
EDIT: noticed this little tidbit in the rules
Each turn you can spend as many economy points as the first number in your Economy stat, plus whatever bonuses Only 1 point per turn can be spent on increasing economy, otherwise it would get out of hand.
guess that prety much answers my questions. so you can go back to ignoring me.... ;)
i'm not 100% sure from that explanation of techs, but i assume that i can research more then one in the same turn.

Roddyna Orders
assuming that "Poor (3/0/5) (+1 this turn from 50 000 pop, +1 banked)" means i have 5 eco points ot spend now.

1 eco on increasing economy
1 eco on researching Scientific Method
1 eco on researching Modern Weapons
2 eco on increasing Science

after funneling most of the army through New Moscow for their new training (Modern Weapons), they are to be distributed to the locations shown on the map as follows:
1. 300 men
2. 300 men
3. 400 men
4. 500 men
5. 500 men
6. 500 men
and the last 200 in New Moscow.

story stuff later. started it, but got distracted by finding out there's a new patch for civ4 with a "marathon" game speed. so i'll write the story after my first marathon....

The above will be posted in the near future, and transferred up in the thread by mysterious means.

Precisely. But this post is here, although I will write it later! I just already posted it... ! :crazyeye:

Duskmist is not listed in the first posts yet -> SadPanda = 1

---------------------------------------------------------

'What has been done about it? We can hardly risk the plague spreading, old friend.' Erathal the Ancient, Lord of Duskmist, fixed his stony eyes upon the nervous messenger. His pale complexion and thin, sickly build had led many to believe that he was a simple weakling. They had only seen his weak outside, with seemingly nothing to boast with. His black robes were well-kept yet simple, the jewelry he wore common yet strongly enchanted. The messenger, as he stood there trembling, knew that his death could be seconds away.
'I expected you to understand that a plague can spread. I thought you would recognize the fact that when a man dies, as well as his relatives, it means that something contractive is spreading. I mused to myself, "My, what a bunch of competent vassals I have". And this is what you tell me?' He pointed at the messenger in front of him, furrowing his brows. ' 'Tis a rare failure. Let us hope it shan't happen again.' He touched the soldier with his pointing index. There was a faint gasp from the afflicted man, who looked at his kingwith pure terror, his knees giving away. 'Let us hope you do not bear the plague, friend', he added, as the body slumped onto the floor.
'Golgoth!' There was a shuffle, as one of his fellow Pale Masters entered the door, smirking at the dead body. 'Send a new messenger to Lord Elwen. Tell him of the price of failure. I shall give you a writ, wherein shall be the actions to be taken should plague be discovered in a person.' The wizard nodded.

OOC: Some people are starting to call me SS, since there already is one called Siver. I find it... intriguing. Not to mention encouraging!

Story coming up...

Randall Greyn looked up in the sky with his beady eyes that nearly covered his entire face. His face shone with childish delight while the rest of his body wrung in impatience for the show to begin. He was just another commoner kid at the Bell Festival, and eagerly awaiting the climax event of the week: the Mage Fair. Lots of other folk crowded the village plaza, adding to the heated atmosphere of anticipation.

The Mage Fair was always a grand occasion, but this year's was different. It was rumored that the mages were recruiting aspiring youth who showed magical affinity or skill. Those who were chosen would accompany the mages back to Arkopolis to study magic there. The recruitment naturally resulted in a flood of hopeful, from slum brats to young aristocrats, seeking to be chosen to study in the capital. The chosen were few, and the prize equally great, leading to the predictable chaos.

There had been some fights between rival adepts in the cities, but most of these were not as serious as ending in one of the parts getting killed. Still, the rumors buzzed and the common folk restless, nearly jumping up from their seats at every news. The Bell Festival being the celebration of the New Wine did not help. Luckily, drunk adepts could not hurt eachother, other by the means of drawing blades. A cocky adept swinging the sword of words, however, could easily get them in a bar fight or worse.

Fortunately, Randall was unaware of all this, still a small child as he was, and only knew of the blissful torment he was experiencing. His body resisted the mental order of keeping still, and he finally stood up and barged his way to the Bell Green. After several attempts, he managed to get past all the tall people and ended up right behind the fance that encircled the scene bedise the village Bell. The mages were still not to be seen, the scene devoid of objects and people.

Randall sighed with quenched excitement. He had heard that a group of Samarran mages was here as well, on their way to Arkopolis, and that they would perform as well. Now it seemed there would be no show at all. The crowd was getting unsure and noisy, many raising their voices as they cried for the mages to appear. Were the mages coming? Were they already there, concealed by magic? Mutters and murmurs spread in the crowd as the waiting continued. Then, with a flash from the nearby forest, the mages appeared.

Soaring in the sky, the Arkenaaran Mages in Purple flew with their outfits flagging in the wind. The Samarran mages were there as well, on circular stone platforms suspended in the air. They flew in unison over the crowd a few times, receiving the applause and excited cries. Then they gradually floated down onto the scene in the Green. The Samarran mages hopped off their platforms, which shifted into stone golems with big bright gems as eyes. The crowd cheered and gasped in amazement at this foreign magic. Little Randall cried in joy, and could almost see imaginary threads in the air around the mages.

Then the show began with Mages in Purple jumping and soaring in the air at will, and Samarran mages exhibiting their powerful golems and crafting beautiful stone formations from the bare ground. Many other tricks and spectacular feats were also presented, followed by heated applause and acclaim from the crowd. The Sons of the Earth as the golems were called, proved to be the greatest hit as the children were allowed to ride their great backs for a parade through the village. The creatures were a bit clumsy, and one got snagged on a roof corner and nearly toppled. Still, the children were all beaming with joy, and the show a tremedous success.

A Royal Scout came into the village right after the parade, asking for Captain Ragnhi who led the mages. The two spoke privately for a moment, then Ragnhi called on the other mages to pack up. He then went to the Samarrans, and left in haste after a few minutes. The village people looked at this in puzzlement, but most of them logically assumed they were on the way to the next town. The appearance of a Royal Scout, hewever, did sprout a lot of rumors. The villagers gossiped for a while about it, but the Bell Festival soon reclaimed the attention. Some adepts sulked about not being recruited, but the wine took care of that.

The Bell Festival continued to bloom like a gaudy flower for the rest of the week. Nobody in the village noticed before days later that the little beggar boy Randall had vanished from the streets.

@Erik: change my stats: "Mages in Purple"
