Overlooking University Square, President Nicholae Verdet stood ready to give his speech. He was used to giving speeches, but for some reason the 4 enormous statues surrounding the square sent a bit of fear into him. The thousands of little faces of the crowd looked onward, waiting for the words he would tell.
"My countrymen, I stand before you asking for your help. The nations of Europe are slowly falling to the evils of communism; Spain and Bulgaria are now mere puppets of the evil Soviet regime while France is in a civil war against the communists. We must stand united as one nation to defeat this red scare, to hold back the communists. If the communists defeat us, the consequences would be devastating. The freedoms you have now would be gone, all your money would be taken by the Soviets, you would all be used as forced labor in Siberia while those to weak to work would be murdered. They want us to crumble at their sight, to flail at their moves, so that they may control us. Romania needs you to stand strong and protect her, to fight in her armies, to produce her goods, to populate her hills. Romania needs you to help her reclaim the lands of Bessarabia that the communists stole, where your families are already working in forced labor, where they have no freedoms at all. It is your duty as Romanians to help liberate Bessarabia in any way, wether through the formation of rebel groups there or helping sneak our people from those lands into Romania. We call on you to harbor any immigrant escaping from the Soviet Union for they deserve to be free. If we do not stand up to the communist threat, Europe and the world will fall to the evil regime. Romania must stand strong!"
With the end of the speech and the roar of the croud a military began to play and the Royal Romanian guard began to march in formations, demostrating the might. President Verdet, accompanied by his personal guard, returned to his armored car still feeling the stare of the statues. He only hoped his speech would give Romanian's the push they needed to liberate Bessarabia.
