Espionage

Random events are off right? So they didn't get free beakers from one of those.... After all the crazy detailed analyses I've seen out of the people on this team. Seeing everyone stumped is frightening.

It must be a lake water tile then, it has two food and 3 commerce. River Wine also works without improvement for +3 Commerce.

Do you mean +3C before or after accounting for financial trait? Because i seem to get river wine at +2C (before, +3C after financial).

Maybe they moved their settler and settled on a Luxary resouce. I tried 2 wines and got 14 BPT.

CDZ is the Carthages right? So yes with Fin.

Try various Luxary resources.

Ok this is really crazy, but I found out how to get the necessary commerce. They had to settle on a luxury resource so their city is 3 commerce, then work a tile which contains a river, and oasis, and another luxury resource. It is possible to put all of those things on one tile, I just tried it and got a city to produce 15 beakers per turn off the start.

The ammount of points they've gained is too much to be population growth right? Because my solution is absolutely absurd.

But it's a correct solution ;)

So unless we missed something with ascribing the score change to a tech, i suppose it's going to be an interesting map :)

EDIT: the tile being worked doesn't have to be next to a river, any oasis with a lux resource will do

Actually no. In the test game posted in this thread getting to 2 pop is an increase of 7 points whereas mining is an increase of 6. Add this to the news the got the tech after turn 6 and we can safely assume it was Mining that they got.

That still gives us some info, they did have to settle on a lux resource to get the necessary 13 bpt. And they are working either coast or another lux resource or an oasis :)

Well done grant but I just discovered something that throws all this out the window:

http://www.civstats.com/viewplayer.php?gameid=1778&playernum=4

Their score went up after turn 6...

Are you sure about this? Did you remember to count turn 0? Looking at our current research on Mining we have completed 60 beakers while producing 12 beakers per turn. Their score didn't update after they hit enter this turn, that doesn't happen until everyone is done. So they must have only had 5 turns of research as well, thus requiring them to produce 15 beakers per turn. This is far too confusing can't we just ask them?

Yes i double checked, they had to hit enter 6 times before their score increased, so 6xbeakers to get to 74 = 13 bpt.
EDIT: actually they're getting 14 bpt, as you can't get 13bpt. (financial makes it go from 12 to 14)

We are only getting 10btp while on the PFH (8 from palace, 1 from city tile and 1 freebie)

They are most likely working a coast tile to give them 13bpt (8 from palace, 1 from city tile, 3 from coast and 1 freebie)

If we're researching at 12 beakers per turn, CDZ can easily research 15bpt simply by working a 3 commerce tile instead of the plains hill we're working.

We're only researching at 12 bpt because we're working the fish now instead of the plains hill. They have to have settled on a river lux working a 3C tile for it to work out at 14bpt(13bpt).
