Heroically Clueless
“Sir, you should make a journey to all the provinces of your kingdom”
“Why?”
“Because we are a focus of trade, Barcelona IS a Centre of Trade on the Mediterranean. We are the gates of the Peninsula to the East, to Italy, to Greece, to Venice! We need to make good use of our resources and, sir, most of the peasants, in spite of enjoying a relative security from the feudal lords’ abuses, are in a very poor situation.”
“And what’s wrong with that?”
“Sir, peasants are our workforce. We need them to produce the best resources of each region. That way, we could take advantage from the fact that these are better than anywhere else to sell them and distribute them through commerce.”
“Why would we do that?”
*sigh* “Because, sir, that would improve our economy. If we have a certain resource better than similar ones, it will be sold in greater quantities, so that we will be able to grow richer.”
*sighs* “Alright. We’re going on that trip around the kingdom. We’ll head south first, it’s been quite a long time since I was there for the last time.”
“As you wish, sir”
------
“Ugh”
“What happens, sir?”
“I’m so tired!”
“Sir! It’s just the first day off! We’re just in the surroundings of Tarragona.”
“I know that! What I am tired of is this checking what they do in each village. Some grow wheat; some grow this other cereal, or the other one, all in the same town!”
“Sir, the problem is precisely that peasants are growing their products in too many tiny fields. We want to find out so that the main focus of the region is determined and we can make economy grow and peasants can live well.”
“Peasants? Live well? Hah!”
“Well, sir, that would mean that everyone else lives better too.”
“Good point. I’m thirsty.”
“There’s a river down there, sir. I’ll have a couple servants fill a...”
“Water? I want something that makes me forget this heat! I want beer! Wine!”
“Sir...”
“What?”
“There’s a masia out there.”
“Hm?”
“Well, sir, these are wellbeing peasants, or at least slightly rich. They seem to be growing... Well, vineyards sir, let’s see what they have.”
*runs for the masia, comes back with a peasant and wooden jar full of wine*
“Come on! I’m thirsty!”
“Yes, sir, here you have.”
*King Peter III drinks the wine*
“Hmmm... This!”
“Excuse me, sir?”
“This is the best thing I’ve ever drunk!”
“Well, sir, these lands were renowned for their wine in Roman times...”
“Then why didn’t you tell me? THIS IS IT! This is what we were looking for!”
“Well, sir, since Roman times I never heard anything about wine here.”
“Enough! Let’s move, come on!”
“But, sir, we should check...”
“Fine, we’ll stay a week in Tarragona and then we will continue down to Valencia. I’m sure that we can “study” some of these products there, and those we can’t, you will on site.”
“Fine, sir...” *rolls eyes*

There’s wine in Tarragona! (actually, it's the province of Barcelona, too)
