Europeans' real attitudes?

Hey metalhead, I get your message.

I don't hate people. In fact I am full of love for them.

I can and do hate certain governments and companies, but I am an intelligent and rational person with the abillity to distinguish between a mechanism and a person.

Of course I don't go around telling people I hate the USA's administration in RL, I have intelligent conversations with them, and we discuss things like world politics and such.

I posted here only to counter your anti-leftist comments, I would not have posted otherwise.

But I must go, this is interfering with my work, and my boss is sure to notice...

Typical: most Americans who live in Europe are against a war!

Cause they aren't getting the intravenus drip of xenophobic hatred that our culture is feeding us here.

Honestly, if today's t-shirt incident doesn't give Americans real pause, I'm officially terrified of living here.

Nah, that incident was just a couple of meatheads trying to act important. It's a disgrace, to be sure, but some people don't feel good about themselves if they can't exert authority over other people, no matter how twisted or ridiculous that authority may be.

I don't know if I'd chalk it up to xenophobia per se, but we are fed a large dose of superiority serum every day. It surely doesn't help our standing with other nations.

Mmmm... superiority serum!!!

Good call.

It certainly helps wash down those "why do they hate us?" pills I've been choking on!!

I mash up my "why do they hate us" pills into my potatoes. Throw on some butter and chives, and you barely even notice that people dislike you!

Every government in the history of the world has governed with the goal of increasing wealth and gaining power worldwide, and singling out the US for having this goal is patently unfair. Perhaps its because we stick out as the world's superpower, we make a bigger target.

I disagree here. With the notable exceptions of France and England, most European countries do not believe that they can exert worldwide power. The fact that such power is not attainable for, for example, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium to name but a few, has allowed their governments to try and pursue a (somewhat) ethical foreign policy. Now, this may be a matter of circumstances rather than choice (the Netherlands for one sure acted differently when it was still in control of Indonesia) but it does reflect the public mood. I venture to say this also goes for Gerrmany, the pacifist constitution of which has made it very difficult for its governments to send troops abroad.

Wow! We are really on topic again! how boring ;)

Anyway Metalhead, I'd like to know: do you understand (not agree) the 'European attitude' better now than a few days ago?

With European attitude I do not mean the tourist bashing, but the attitude against the american policy.
