Evil Atheist Thread

How about trying?
Was it a voice, or a feeling, or a mark?

It was like a feeling. Or an emotion, or a thought. Like I said, hard to describe, but as far as I am concerned unmistakable. But then, I also wouldn't expect anyone to take my word for it. It has been said that it comes from my own brain; I will certainly grant the real possibility that they are right.

I once had an atheist dogcatcher, and he was not the brightest knife in the drawer.

Proof that atheists have below-average intelligence!

Yeah but I think most atheists are agnostics.
Not really, Jawz, an agnostic is someone who keeps an open mind about it. An atheist claims to know, just like a religious/spiritual person.

I cant prove theres no good, just as I cant prove theres no flying spaghetti monster.
Theres no such thing as 'proof' regarding the existence of God, either for or against. People will always either believe or disbelieve based on their feelings. Really, both belief systems are equally irrational.

I know some religious people who have red hair-> religious people are mor redhaired than most!

Did you know that there is a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy that is made entirely out of cheese? I can't prove it, but you can't prove me wrong. Therefore there's an 50/50 chance there is a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy that is made entirely out of cheese. And little bit of dog hairs too, did I mention that? And it's well hidden, so most likely it won't be found.

I suggest you to find out more about the term 'illogical fallacy'. And the philosophy behind the probability theory in mathematics. (Can't stress the philosophy part enough, because we would have these jesters joking here to present mathematical patterns for something that can't be counted.)

Cool! I like cheese.

Some people find ultimate truth in religious texts, others find it in mathematical texts. As long as both are happy, no harm done, IMO.

I don't claim to know. I'm an agnostic atheist.

"The atheist may however be, and not unfrequently is, an agnostic. There is an agnostic atheism or atheistic agnosticism, and the combination of atheism with agnosticism which may be so named is not an uncommon one."[1]

"If a man has failed to find any good reason for believing that there is a God, it is perfectly natural and rational that he should not believe that there is a God; and if so, he is an atheist... if he goes farther, and, after an investigation into the nature and reach of human knowledge, ending in the conclusion that the existence of God is incapable of proof, cease to believe in it on the ground that he cannot know it to be true, he is an agnostic and also an atheist - an agnostic-atheist - an atheist because an agnostic... while, then, it is erroneous to identify agnosticism and atheism, it is equally erroneous so to separate them as if the one were exclusive of the other..."

If I understand correctly, this means, more or less, "Im an atheist until I have compelling reasons to believe otherwise. Such reasons may or may not exist, I just havent encountered them yet."

Would that be accurate?

I find it disturbing when people assume that people who do not share their faith or lack of faith are stupid.

I agree. Stupid, or wicked. CFC taught me that this isn't true; but now the last couple pf weeks I am beginning to think maybe I was mistaken . . .

It is important to distinguish between the stupid things people believe because of religion and religion itself. One is not stupid for believing in religion but Young Earth Creationism is a very stupid belief with no justification in reality.

I was given the Holy Spirit in response to prayers. It is hard to describe.

At least try. Its hard if you never try...

True, but I think very few people actually make the distinction.

Nothing good has ever come of atheism. :smug:
