In light of recent event, where the President played ahead a tad after meeting the Babylonians - I feel that a bit of discussion on what should be our foreign policy is in order.

Now - this is not the place to voice your opinion on the events that took place in the turnchat of 21. januar.

Personal opinion of FA Deputy:
From what I understand however, Eyrei suggests that the FA office takes action to get the citizens' opinions on what we should do upon meeting neigbours - possible friends, trading partners, and enemies.

I urge the Fanatican citizens to voice their opinion on our possible future foreign policy in this thread

Paalikles, Foreign Affairs Deputy

I thank the Deputy Moron for bringing this up. As I attempted earlier in the term (btw, Paalikles: do you want this job next term? I don't (new term starts when Term 2 starts)), a clasification of neighbors is important. We should create a system of temporary classifications for now and one of more permanent status for later. I was thinking of borrowing from Tom Ridge's M&M bag and using the color code. (I'm a staunch leftist, if you havent realised yet). Anyone else have any other opinions?

I've held that we should maintain a state of peace and keep them as training partners, unless we determine that they would be likely to fall to an early attack, in which case we should risk it...the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Of course, the primary risk involved in that is that the nationwe attacked could seek revenge on us in the future, but the odds of that aren't much higher than they are of someone we'd never attacked attacking us.

I beleve at the moment we should remain at peace with the Babs since they have the bowmen which are realy powerfull offensive units that can chew our warriors to shreads.

I think I already have voiced my opinion on this in the Military Discussion thread, but would like to repeat it here:

We have some difficult land to build on, so I guess going to war soon would not be as feasible as concentrating on building a strong nation. Now this should call for trying to maintain good relations with our neighbours - but we should NOT let them bully us around.

Right now - we should make money money money, do trade, and do some serious landgrabbing. After all, since the game has progressed some already - I think we might find even our close neighbours a tad too strong (related to the military leader's repeated mentioning of warrior gambits)

My 2 gold

I agree with Paalikles, we are not in a geographic or resource rich position that would allow us to build a war machine. In any event, staying on the good side of the Babs is always prefered policy early in a game.
