Fall 2017 Patch - Undocumented Changes

Have city sizes dropped after conquest before this patch? This is something I am used to since CivI, but I don't remember seeing it in Civ6.
I conquered a size 2 city only to find that my new acquisition was at size 1, and more importantly, I finished Gorgo by taking Sparta, with 10 pop... and once in my hands, it was only pop 7, which meant no inspiration...

That always happened

We may have seen this before but never just after peace. Anyone else noticed this?

Aren't wonders in the same table? I found it a bit weird for regular buildings to unlock policies.

More like governments unlock buildings (or Wonders).

Well, so that might actually be one of the few things that work as intended here. Remember, friendships and alliances are first of all tools of politics and then something else. The only reason I make friendships in Civ is to make sure they don't attack me while I'm going on about my other business (like settling that resource on their border or fighting a neighbor on the other side, or declaring friendship is kind of very useful when going for the RV right before your apostles enter their lands), and I don't see why the AI should act otherwise :D

Nah, too immersion breaking - Good allies don't attack each others minions.
If alliances are otherwise too over powered, they should be lessened in a different way. There are plenty of options (for reduction) given how many benefits have been added to alliances of late.

You could simplify it a little bit:
-Protectorate war should be a valid CB right from the beginning of the game, and can be declared without denouncing. However, the WW penalties should vary depending on how it was declared - other than liberated CS, if declared without denouncing then you get the same as if you had declared a surprise war. If you had denounced them, then the other penalties would be as if a formal war.
-However, you cannot declare war on city-states that your friends or allies are suzerain of.

Solves the issues: if you're friends, it protects your CS from your friends. And if you're not friends, then you can immediately turn to liberate/protect any city-state that you were allied with, without worrying about WW as long as you don't go capture other cities.

I think Protectorate war should be a valid CB from the classical era onwards.

For the the right side notifications, when there are multiple notifications under the same icon, e. g. multiple instances of a new resource or several declarations of war on the same civ, now there are two arrows to move forward and back between those notifications easily. Before, you basically had to right-click them away one by one to view them one after another.
Sorry but this has been there already (from day 1, if I'm not mistaken).
Sometimes it didn't work properly and you had to disable the first one with a right-click - then you got the ability to cycle through the remaining instances.
I'm however not sure about the declaration of war notification - I've never paid attention to those so I don't know whether you could cycle through them or not :)

One comment in general about this thread, it would be nice to have a summary of undocumented changes. Maybe the thread owner just updates the first post with any new ones. Like I just heard about one tile mountains being removed from island plate maps to allies w freer land bridge movement. Just not sure I have read it here and it's too much to go through.

Yes, there were dots for different instances, but I found nigh on impossible to click and use them. It's only the arrows and the absolute ease of using them that is new and unmentioned.

I'm pretty sure those arrows have been around for a lot longer. They didn't always work very well though!

Sorry again, but the arrows are not new.

Before the patch saved games in the list were sometimes badly sorted (by date) - the newest one wasn't on the top but few rows below. After the patch I haven't noticed this bug so far, so maybe this was silently fixed? Strange is that I've never seen anyone else talking about this bug here, but how could it be only on my PC? :)

I'm with you, I've noticed both as well: Having the bug before the patch and it being gone afterwards. So you're not alone. :)

Also, there was a tiny layout / interface bug in diplomacy menu when you were doing negotiations that the list of items would jut out of the interface frame, does anyone know what I mean? At least it's gone, too. Very well.

Just for the record, the bug with the number of tiles claimed when founding cities with later-era starts still has not been fixed.

(I'm working on the atomic era start achievement, and by the fourth or fifth city, the number of tiles for the new city is a bit ridiculous.)

Yeah, that's been there from the start. Honestly I'm not sure they even know about it, as I haven't seen that much talk about it. I keep meaning to report it via the 2k bug submission (or the forum here).

In my current game, I've discovered an unfortunate change due to the religion model - you can't link a religious unit with a regular troop. Usually I wouldn't care, but playing as Spain, I just want my missionary attached to my Conquistadors. Means that I always have to move them separately, and definitely more than once have forgotten to move the missionary onto the same tile so have missed out on my +10 bonus.

Yeah, I've noticed that - they should change it as I'm sure it is just an oversight. I mean you cannot link with traders or spies; but with the latter it is unnecessary, and the former often goes places automatically that your other units cannot, making that a tricky arrangement.
