Fall from Divine Intervention I: Amurite Analogies

Isn't it still visible? I tried to make sure it was. (or at least, if not completly visible, very obvious...)

I can double as Sucellus if necessary because I'm doing Cerunnos and they are related...

I don't think filling all god spots is quite necessary - and if it should happen, it should IMHO happen because of that many players, not doubles.

It's crowded as it is - I feel sorry for our little mortal, just trying to remember all the things he's been requested :P

Cheated.

I went in to the WB, created some amurite cities, liberated them, and then devassalized the result and added Fog of war for korias.

unfortunatly, there's still contact. (and Ostanes refers to himself as a hippus, despite being amurite:confused:)

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. So now there's another Civ on the board?

Dear god this save is going to be interesting.

Got it. Will post update ASAP (18-24 hours MAX)

Wow this game is really taking off - 5 pages in 2 days. :goodjob: Just wanted to say I didn't forget this; I've been pretty busy this round but I'll jump in on the next one. Cerdiwen needs time to wreck her havoc.

"Now I remember why I stopped playing this game." Valledia flipped over the next Somnium card, silently cursing its result. The Seven of Moons.

She already had the Six on the board.

"A child's game, I suppose. Ahh well. Onto buisness, shall we?" The arctic chill that had once permeated the air has ceased, a faint summer breeze taking its place. "Good sign, hm?" Valledia stood looking out over the massive lake around Cevedes. The gods certainly had proved their existence in this world, that was for certain.

However, she did know that she had a delicious banquet of Sushi waiting for Amathon when he returned. Not to mention that her east coast estate, the Heron Throne, had just been completed. "Surely Amathon would be pleased with this, no?" She mused to the winds.

But things had quickly gone off to a rough start. Some wandering buffoon dressed in the colors of the Amurite Army had shown up with two elven slaves. This was no co-incedence. This was the work of Aeron. While he had promised a reward for rekindling blood hatred between the races, Amathon had offered her a reward to keep the peace. Not only that, but there was no guarantee that the war could be won even Aeron's help. So she found a solution that would better suit the Amurites.

"Please." Valledia stood from her throne as the novice bard recited the tale of leadership. True, Clarione may have had a good singing voice. But she could not tell stories worth her weight in sashimi. "I dealt with things as any proper leader would."

"Perhaps my queen would wish to tell the story herself?" a look of dismay grew in Clarione's eyes as Valledia let a small laugh out. "No, please do continue. I'm no bard."

"As I was saying..."

Agrian was a dangerous man. He had reputedly taken down a bear's den to the north, but the blows he weathered made him go mad with fury. The mystical tatoos that covered his body rippled with his muscles, the elves still shaking in fear from the man's gutteral screams.

"Valledia, I saw one of your men torturing servants of the summer court! This is preposterous. Are you aware of this, or should i take it as an offense? What is the meaning of this? What should i report to my master? I demand an explanation-"

"Oh hush envoy. This man has gone mad with rage. We shall see to it that he is dealt with."

"And what of my people?"

"Your people will remain in the care of the Amurites. They are here, why force them through the wilderness back?"

"Wise, Queen of the Amurites. Perhaps you are not as bad as the legends fortold."

The slaves were glad to be free of their captor. But they felt as if they had gone from the metaphorical frying pan into the rather physical fire.

"What can I say? I like to keep my palace warm." Valledia smirked as the two elves entered the palace, their shivering ceasing immediately as the mana permating the walls eminated a gentle heat.
"You two may live in Ceveds till your times come. But I do have one request..."

Valledia's project was to construct a tribute known as the Heron's Throne. A magnificent harbor that would serve as a second state for Valledia's already growing fame. All she wanted was the elves' help in the project. What more could they do but agree? Not to say this didnt make the city just a bit more dirty with a pair of elves who never washed, but overall their expertise in carpentry was unmatched.

"But what of the scout?" Solen was busy etching Clairone's work onto a tablet for preservation.

"What scout?"

"You know. The scout. The one that came from up north. How do you not remember these things? Sheesh. Narsica or something. You know. The one that complained about the fire?"

"Oh. Him. Well, he found the ring. But I did send the Elf from the north with him."

"Whoa whoa whoa. Back up a second there queeny. "

"Queeny?"

"He found the ring. THE Ring. The one that-"

"Dont be daft. You're breaching over into the wrong fantasy realm now, you old coot."

"I'm not old. I'm just 47."

"Says the man with a foot long grey beard."

"Fine. 47 with 29 years extra experience."

"Thank you."
Save3FoundRingofCarcer.jpg

"Well, I still say we should have dug."

"And I say you're wrong, Solen. Amathon would NOT be happy."

"Well, we have sushi. That might have put him at ease."

"Uhoh"
"What Uhoh."

"That Uhoh"

Save3DeathofDanath.jpg

"Crap."

"Yes, Crap in deed my queen. However, we cant make Crap Golems."

"...Did you just make an Erfworld reference?"

".... maybe..."

"Your fired."

Save3foundpooloftears.jpg

My queen, Cerves has found something." Clairone stood, holding a small scroll tied with a peice of twine. Her meek demeanor was something that Valledia was going to have to change some time. Probably once they learned how to make some Spirit Mana.

Or wine. Either of those.

"He's discovered the Pool of Tears."

"Whoop-de-do. What does he want, a medal?"

"So tell me Clairone, what is the status of our empire?"

"We have two cities, Cevedes and Ciriail. We have extended our influence up to four leagues away from Cevedes, but have yet to prove our cultural influence in Ciriail. Our scientists currently produce a fluctuation of eleven to fifteen scrolls a day while our public workforce is one-hundred and twenty men in Cevedes, but only twenty men strong in Ciriail."
"My, you certainly are learning quickly. You might want to get some rest. I have a feeling tonight will be... restless."

Save3WorldSummary.jpg

Summary said:
  • Got the Clairone (Great Artist for 15 turns disorder) event. Used GA to culturebomb Cevedes
  • Discovered the Ring of Carcer by following Bhall's Path.
  • Danath died from a Sea Lion. (I'm surprised that happened. Didnt think they could attack him)
  • We learned Crafting from a Hut.
  • We are researching Mining
  • The shipwreck in our lake spawned an Azer and some halfdead drowns. Milo beat em off.
  • Founded Ciriail.
  • Developed an intense disliking for Blizzards.
  • Built the Heron Throne, Monument, and a Workboat. We are now building a Warrior in Cirial, and an Elder Council in Cevedes.
  • Spent 100 of Mammon's gold clearing out Counterfit Coins. Regained 50 gold by selling a meteorite. Regained another 46 by finding a hut. Lost some from research fees.

My Plan

Atempt to complete as many quests as possible. This means teching OO while nabbing another good city location towards the Ljosalfar. Once I have OO, I'll probably tech towards Bowyers/KotE for Firebows/Adepts.

Now's the time where we figure out how we win the game. I think, in this instance, a Tower of Mastery victory is called for. We have enough mana (and can get more via the Rites of Oghma) which will let us build the towers and with the Heron Throne, we can build a lighthouse and make the city be able to work all its tiles efficiently and using God King, get 50% bonus to that.

The real trick here is to expand quickly enough. My build paths are most likely going to be Warrior, Council, Settler, Warrior, Temple, ect. Simple things that help build my military and allow me to expand, while supporting my techrate and happiness rate via OO.

Here's the 100 turn save. Enjoy. I'll be back in a day or two to grab it and play the next 50 turns.

I am surprised Danath died so early as well. Didn't know sea lions could attack land either. It was probably my lack of WB knowledge though, as I added the hill Danath was standing on (it was a water tile before). Maybe the game thought it was still a water tile?

In my first attempt I was able to save him by turn 97 by spamming warriors (after the Heron Throne was built), so it was possible. You just got pretty unlucky, I guess :)

Aeron could feel his entire body - no his essence - shake with rage. A kind of rage that mortals could only feel in that dark moment when their hearts were blackened by age old hatreds died long ago.

"Lipservice and a flourish from the Amurite Queen?" he said - to no one in particular. "She is a trifling little wench, nose buried in books and card games and DIPLOMACY!"

"We shall see just how far the tongues of her diplomats can get her... she is unworthy of my aid but not of my attentions. Oh no, not at all!"

((Got it! :mwaha: ))

Aeron's voice came to Valledia the Even in her restless sleep, as if to taunt her.

"You can ignore me, Valledia, but you do so at the peril of your rule and the livelyhood of your citizens. Indeed, some have already seen your transgression and taken up arms against you, joining the greenskinned tribes to the south. They will fight the elves where you refuse to... and I would stay away if I were you, I do not think they are too pleased with you either. Those people have my blessings now, not you and your feeble scholars. When the enemies come to knock down your gates remember that this is all on you, and the screams of the murdered and the dead will haunt you in your afterlife forever. If you would wish to reverse this course you must break diplomatic ties with the treacherous elves."

Spoiler What to Do/Not to Do :

Do not attack the tribes in the south, to avoid angering Aeron more.
Break all diplomatic ties with the elves (War delcaration unnecessary but Aeron sure would like it.)

Spoiler Not for Korias' Eyes :

Spoiler No srsly. No peeking! :

Spoiler Don't do it. :
There are a lot of barbarians coming at him right now, before I even added mine. I had to do something, but upon actually seeing the barbs coming at him I pulled it way back. Aeron may want to see them dead, but that doesn't go for ME!

Added: Amurite Rebel city to the west of the other barb city. Gave the barb cities archers. Gave the barbs some Crazed warriors (who will go enraged on the next turnset, probabaly.)

Taalen, since you agreed to edit after me, first of all, I would like a map following each edit so I can see what's happening (perhaps a WB worldmap with Ressource flags), if that is possible. Second...

Oghma shook her head in disapproval. Surely, Valledia had merely made a blunder by not digging up the remains of the Patrian ruins found below Cevedes. Still, blunders were not appreciated. At all.

So Oghma decided to take more direct action.

"Valledia, you have disappointed me. I though you had the same striving drive as Kylorin himself, but obviously, I was wrong. Now, I hope you can learn from your mistakes, at least.

And trust me, I know the best way to punish an Amurite."

Spoiler What to do :
Research Knowledge of the Ether within the next 50 turns. No carrot, only whip (no reward, but failure will be... Frowned upon).

Spoiler Taalen for edits (NFKE) :
If there is a mana node within Amurite lands, change it from raw to metamagic.

Also, adjust the tile it is on to be Desert.

Crud! I knew I forgot to do something important when I headed out... My sincere apologies, guys.

Valledia was in the middle of a formal meeting at her palace with her advisors as the ground started shaking again.

"Earthquake!" yelled Clairone, who looked like she was about to poop her panties. "My Queen, we must evacuate the building immediately!"

"No." said Valledia firmly. She was expecting a call from someone she knew she had disappointed. "No need for that. This is not an earthquake."

"But, my quee-" Clairone lost her balance and hit the floor as the stones under her feet started moving. The head of a familiar statue appeared where Clairone once stood, ripping the floor to shreds.

"Danath is dead, and you did not act to save him." said Kilmorph. Her voice was petrifying.

"I had my hands full with all the other outrageous requests from other gods. I am truly sorry for the loss of Danath, but even if I had concentrated on saving him the minute you tasked me with this quest, I wouldn't have made it in time." Valledia said with fake confidence. She was scared to death, but didn't want to show it.

There was a brief moment of silence before the statue spoke again.

"I believe you." said Kilmorph. "However the Luchuirp will not. Danath was very valuable to them, and they believe your negligence in time of need caused his death. You will never have good relations with them and they will come after you if they find you are weak."

"It wasn't my fault. I didn't ask for this task and there was nothing I could do to help him." Valledia looked annoyed.

"I know, child."

The statue crumbled into dust.

Spoiler :
You suffer a -10 diplo penalty with the Luchuirp. Increased the odds of survival for the Luchuirp.

Spoiler Changes for Gods :
* Removed "pursuers" of Danath
* Added -10 Diplo Modifier to Luchuirp against Korias
* Added Barnaxus, 1 Dwarven Slinger, 5 Wood Golems to Mutanbo
* Added Walls, Monument to Mutanbo
* Removed the two Jungle tiles North and East of Mutanbo
* Added Gold + Mine to Hills NW of Mutanbo

I may not have the time until tomorrow (Friday) evening (GMT+2), or at worst, Saturday, due to some unforeseen delays. For the same reasons my own update will be delayed a bit.

Back in her dream, the man with the cane reappeared. "Tut-tut Valledilla," he said. "I am sad that you have dug when you had the chance, don't worry I will not prosecute you for this, in fact a nation should be ruled by their leaders not some gods that tell them what to do, isn't it? Isn't it?" The man laughed some more. Don't worry, you would not receive any surprise from me this time, although Somebody else will!

"and by the way, don't you think it's annoying that Kilmorph gave you a near impossible quest? I think she will be quite surprised when I make my move across Erebus... Kya-Kya-Kya... ok that may have been too loud... Bye!" Mammon laughed some more, although a bit more quietly. He had been in strange mood since he had gravely injured one of his advisors....

for the flashback...
Spoiler :
a Demon: Sir I still don't understand why you chose to favor the Amurites from the rest, in my opinion, the dwarves should've ..... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Mammon: good, (places the battle-axe back on the fireplace) that should keep things quiet for few weeks...

Got the save... darn got CtD... I will have to do that over... I will post soon

The winter is subsiding, the coastal waters are thawing and more fishermen come to fill their baskets with food. Beneath the ice food is plenty, but this day the amurites recieved more then just another dish. A boat bearing a foreign flag drops anchor and four characters descend upon the amurite shores.

One of them was a brightly coloured man, with a weird hat, who dragged three mangled figures by a chain. Some fishermen froze in shock, others left their tools and ran to the elephant grazing fields.

'Fear not, neighbours!' the man shouted... 'We come in peace, as far as I am concerned... I have heared a call from the sea and I came to lay claim to this here land. I am not to say that the sea has any authority in this matter, just as cows have no authority over bees, but the details are trivial.'

He turns and kickes one of the freaks in the stomach before continuing his rant.

'You shall now call me king Buttfart Shortpecker and I shall call you my tools.'

The freaks start to growl and wank the chains around their necks.

'Oh yes, I almost forgot... I must resign from my post as emperor of this pathetic rock. I have an appointment with my fish. I'll tell Keelyn you got the package. Happy anarchy!'

Spoiler :
The player recieved 3 freaks...

...

Far to the north, Aethen and Nariac explored the forest for a place to make camp.

'What do you think, Nariac? I believe we should build a lean-to here. The wind will blow westward and will keep us hidden from whatever roams the tundra and we can get a safe good night's sleep.'

'Hey, you've got much more experience than me around these parts. It's your call.'

'I'm glad you've agreet with me. I'll scout around for some fresh water and something to eat. You start building the shelter.'

After a couple of hours of chopping wood, Aethen comes back with his shirt filled with fruit and a couple of bloodied white rabbits.

'Dinner is served, I'll make a fire.' he replied. 'I can't wait to get back to civilization. I mean I love the forests, the vast open spaces of whiteness, but it gets tiresome after a while...' his speech interrupted by a loud thump. As he looked at his companion he noticed him vomit violently on the ground in which he lay. 'Oh, silly human... those fruit are not for eating, they're used as a very potent poison. Now we have to take you back to town...'

Spoiler :
Nariac the scout is diseased. Aethen gained a poisoned blade.

Lugus frowned. Valledia had not given him his Empyrean yet. So, Lugus decided to encourage her. "I have placed an Ecclesiastic on an isolated island. If you use him to give me my Empyrean, I shall reward you. But this is your last chance." With that he disappeared.
