Fall from Divine Intervention II: Mercenary for the Gods

Lucky Tali.

Not for mortal eyes
Spoiler :
I seem to have forgotten to give that devout the Weak promotion. If someone could, that would be great. I guess it is not incredibly important, though.

Here is newest Save. I added in Mammon changes as well.

Not for Mortal Eyes
Spoiler :
I removed weak from windwaker and given him mobility 1 and combat 1, per Paulus's finding the tower. I gave the Spectres pillage_AI, but gave one stealth, and gave em command 2, and some low tier spells. I added Tomb of the Forsaken. Kinda random dungeon-niss but I think its tactically fitting. Added a third city and Ice for Illians, just because they are underpowered due tothe Samhain rush.
Spoiler :
Strenthened the Bannor, Amurites, and Ljos a tad bit. Just to give em more thematic approaches hopefully. I have added a few held units just so certain cities are harder to obtain.

@Tasunke: It would be much more interesting if you could create a plot and storyline of your own and follow that instead of making general changes to the game world.

I like how Verdian has been playing this one.

Ok, Bhall wil post her changes in few hours, if anyone wants to make his changes, feel free to do that.

OOps, nothing to see here

Edit 2: Actually, there is one

Alastor smiled as he saw the guardians of the Mirror run away from their farmland, closely chased by the ghostly figures. He knelt beside a corpse and began draining the blood into a vial.

"Having fun? Alastor?" said a voice behind him.

Alastor whirled around to see another man clad in blue, and moaned.

"I thought I posted guards at the gate to definately not let you in on this mess, Hastur."

Hastur laughed. "It's not as if those 7 foot minotaurs could restrain me, one slap on their face with my hand knocked them out for good."

"Really?" Alastor thought. "I will make sure that the next guardians tougher."

"I don't see why you folks don't like my doing," interjected Hastur. "I am merely pursuing my hobbey, and if that takes stealing a few dead bodies which doesn't even affect creation anymore..."

Alastor sighed and placed the vial of blood in a messenger hellraven's beak. It crowed and flew off into a certain direction. "The 500 corpses that you stole and reanimated," said Alastor. "Escaped into Creation and bothered a few warriors of Tasunke."

"I told you it was my golem's fault."

"Which you created."

"What was that vial of blood for anyways?"

"Oh," Alastor rolled his eyes. "Now you change the subject..."

...

That day, a particulary large black bird sailed into the courtroom of Tasunke and dropped a vial of blood upon the floor, splattering blood everywhere. Then, to everyone's horror, the blood began to form a phrase, it said Horrors of War

As everyone looked agape, Echesos merely smiled.

It was the coldest winter since the end of age of ice and much colder than the winter before. The snow was everywhere. Even at places the known no water before. Tasunke and his guards were riding in the snow-covered plains, a lush green pastures few months ago. Then a solitary oak standing alone in the white steppe burst into the flames.

Tasunke....Tasunke...I asked you to destroy the servants of the winter. And you what? You failed me! Tasunke! The snowswines clutched into their cold rigid grip not only my most sacred temple, but also a place containing powers stronger than you can imagine. Destroy them Tasunke for my powers are faiding and their are increasing every day. I summoned two lesser angels serving me to help you in your case but you have to hurry. Or the new age of Ice will begin. But before that, my children will warm themselves in yurtas of your people.

Spoiler To do list :
Declare war on Illians. Gain control of Pyre and Guardian. Off Illians before they finish ritual or cast stasis.

Spoiler Changes :
Buffed up Nak Gub
Added snow, tundra nad blizzards to the southeast.

Camulos sat in his vault, watching the mortal build his empire...

"Let himself build up. Someday he shall lead the world into a bloody chaotic battle of which no one will survive. Yes, let him build up. I shall act soon, and when I do, the whole world will feel the tremors!"

As you listen to your advisors, planning your next deployments and expansions, many ideas filter through your brain. One phrase bubbles to the top: "Golden Age". Scholars and bards alike mention past empires which experienced periods of enlightenment, wherein rapid expansion, high productivity, economic stimulus, and military triumph were commonplace.
It occurs to you that, if an opportunity for instigating such a profitable era arrived, you would be wise to take advantage of it.

you sound screwed Vernacular, do you live in California?

my school is acting paranoid too!they just finished putting hand sanitizer to all our classrooms

We are veering off topic again. And thank you for the compliment, Honor. The story should be a part of the reward of any plot. ;)

It occurs to me that the next few turns will determine a few important things, perhaps the most important of which is which religion you will choose. On the off chance you decide to ask Sera for advice, I wanted to have the opportunity for that advice to effect the upcoming interval.

Paulus, please only click on this spoiler if you grant Sera an audience and wish to hear her opinions on the various topics inside.
Spoiler :

:health: Sucellus, Angel of Life :health:

Sera entered the grand hall of Tasunke, King of the Hippus, Chosen of Tali. She was younger than he had expected, perhaps 18 years in the saddle. Tasunke watched her nervously enter his throne room, her wide eyes flittering about the massive chamber. He called her name in a firm voice, and it echoed from the grey walls. At hearing this, Sera looked to her ruler. Their eyes met for a moment, and a resolve seemed to infuse the young girl. Her back straightened and her footsteps displayed a confidence they lacked a moment ago. The various conversations of those in attendance died down as she walked toward the God King.

Each question Tasunke asked of her, she answered, giving more details when pressed. She never steered the conversation to another topic, instead preferring to let her king be the guide.

OOC: The follow are potential questions you could ask Sera. These are summaries, not the entire conversation. If you have any more, let me known.

On Religion
Spoiler :
The greatest danger the Hippus face is falling victim to pride. Be careful of accepting Mammon's help to too great of an extent, temper it with the hard work of Kilmorph and the wisdom of Lugus. Always allow your people the right to choose, but do not be afraid to punish if those choices endanger the greater good of our people.

OOC: If you followed Sera's long term advice, she would guide you to following Runes of Kilmorph, Empyrean, or Fellowship of Leaves.

On War
Spoiler :
I have heard Rhoanna's plan, and while war may bring wealth and honor, it also brings hardship and death. Please choose your battles carefully. There are many reasons to go to war. But your peoples lives should always be on the forefront of your mind.

OOC: Sera would not be opposed to war with the Calabim, both because they have already expressed their violent intent, and because of the terrible conditions of their people. The caution you have shown before declaring war on an unknown enemy, however, should be praised.

On Death (and the Sepulcher)
Spoiler :
Honor the dead, and do not attempt to bring them back through false means. Necromancy is a power that should never be put into use. It is a form of slavery more sinister than any on Erebus. While the power of Sucellus can indeed bring the soul and flesh of a person back, this is a gift, not a right. The Sepulcher itself should be sanctified.

OOC: Never summon or build undead. If they are given to you by a god, delete them. Consider this a reverse quest. The only thing more offensive to Sucellus would be genocide. If you want Sera to sanctify the Sepulcher, she will.
Spoiler :
Quest: Sanctifying the Sepulcher
Place Sera on the Sepulcher and keep her there for 10 turns. Then have her Explore it. It is suggested you bring backup, as the horrors inside may be too great for her.
Reward: Removed Obsidian Plains and the node will become a normal mana node.
On the Gods
Spoiler :
Each and every god, even Sucellus, has their own agenda. Think carefully on what that may be before you blindly accept their help, and certainly do not be afraid to refuse it. The gods have an agreement to keep their affairs limited in Erebus, but some will try to circumvent this. I would never trust a demon, or accept their help. They seek only death and destruction, which is a path to nihilism and the end of our people.

OOC: Don't build demons or make deals with them. Even angels should be limited in how much help they are allowed to offer you. The Hippus are capable of much on their own.

Dang, I may have to make Echesos's advice on how to develop a country too, just to counter that..., and what? Mammon's help? It was a rightful reward for hunting down my zombie minions :p!!! Seriously, I really didn't help them, just gave them a stern warning not to attack Calabim

Haha, I don't think you have done anything wrong yet. In general, though, I think Mammon is the biggest danger to the Hippus. They are mercenaries, and they are new at it. And while their decision to fight for money was one of a desire to save their way of life, and not greed, that could easily change with time.

Not for mortal eyes, unless he read all of Sera's advice in the above post.
Spoiler :
I was actually a bit reluctant to single any "evil" god out, but you have been doing the most tempting. And while I certainly don't plan on acting out against you, I did want to give the Hippus a fair warning. :D

I give the almost exact same warning about the other gods, even Sucellus, down in the Gods section. :mischief:

edit: The more I think about it, the more I realize how much I agree with everything you have been having Paulus do. You had him destroy undead (yay) and are steering him away from war (yay). It is kind of amusing how similar our goals seem.

The winds swirl at Tasunke's feet as he walks the corridors of the horse pens. The breeze picks up to a gale. Tasunke notices two husbandry huts nearby. One has windows and doors open, while the other is sealed shut. As the gale picks up and runs throughout the stables onto these huts, the open structure remains unscathed while the sealed hut gets damaged, with thatch torn off the sides. A small lizard drops from the roof onto the straw floors of the stablehouse. This transforms into a small shimmering green wyrm with resplendent prism-like wings. The faithful servant of Tali hovers in the air closer to Tasunke engaging him in Dialogue.

"A horse that is forced to eat certain strains of grain are inherently weaker than those grown on the open plains, choosing which grains to eat when and where they choose. Equally it is unwise to train a horse to be a messenger or a warhorse. Which is why the hippus wisely have a perfected method of choosing which role would fit the horse best after prelimenary trials and training. In the end it is the horse that decides its role, and the Hippus are stronger for this selection. Equally a hut that is always open to the winds is better off than one only open to the northerly winds, or only open to the easterly winds. As the leader of the people of the wind, it would be wise to be indifferent to dogmatism. Leave the religious blood and iron to those set in stone, which would be eroded by our ever-changing moods. The teachings you give to your peoples are your own to decide, however I would advise to avoid such hard headed dogma which certain gods find joy in.
"To follow the ways of the winds will be to attract those whom are closest to Tali. There is a certain herd of horses that are quite shy and flippant. However, to follow the everchanging ways of the winds would perhaps bring this herd out of its seclusion."

Quest
Spoiler :
Maintain the Neutral alignment. If you do so, the hidden yet powerful herd (resource) may reveal itself. Helping the eager WindWaker on his quest will merit greater reward. This is a continued habit to remain as carefree and neutral as the winds. How strongly the hidden herd is drawn to you will rely on how great the tales and merits of the Wind Waker have become.

Non para ojos de mortalis /not for mortals
Spoiler :
Wether the herd will show itself will most likely depend on how much time has past by next update, and the overall situation.
Spoiler :
For instance, if WindWaker remains sitting untouched and bored, even if the herd does appear it will probably have a distant and hard to attain locale

@verdian

Spoiler :
We have different agendas, and obviously very different goals :mischief:
