Fall from Divine Intervention II: Mercenary for the Gods

Update will be delayed a bit. The writeup is taking longer than I thought. :(

Don't worry, this update was going to be exciting anyways

I cannae wait. I doubt I will have time on Sunday to check it regardless however.

Hows the updare :p?

uh... you mean update?

Yes, I meant update

what is ... up-dare

up dare arrr dem clouds n skies fer shorz :D

fail... up der er tem klouds ein skis fur sherz...

Oh wow, I forgot all about this (ironic since I'm the god of knowledge...)

Erm, how exactly do I do this? Do I say what I want to happen here, look for the savefile and edit it, or can I do either?

You can do either ... and Paulus has the save now. We are currently waiting on his report.

A new DI rule involving the changing of the player at every round might be cool. This would achieve 2 things:
1. The game would not be dependant on one single human being, who might have RL issues, etc.
2. More people could participate in the game.

The problem is... How do we find new players? I know paulus is working on the update right now, guys. It is exam time anyways, so let's give him some more time.

the 14th is good, since it gives him time to study/finish essays/take test
PS: I agree on every 100 turns (however we should recruit them BEFORE we make changes to the file)

I'll try and see what I can do to get the update up today. I've had some RL business to deal with first, but I think I can manage it today.

Subscribed. And read the first FFH DI game. And started reading Ragnar's too. Loving this, very entertaining, I'm keen to join in the next one (if there's space). Additionally I've made a map you might find interesting to play on (currently uses Fall Further, will edit to FFH original soon), will post up a couple screenshots soonish.

Additionally, is it possible to do this in multiplayer and have more than one human civ? Would make it very interesting to suddenly have competition for some of the quests, and encourages them to take sides when two God's quests are conflicting!

I do not think changing the player would be a good idea. The idea of this is to keep the human player the same, and watch him react to the various gods. Changing the player would disrupt the narrative, as well as undo a lot of the tempting that the gods are trying to do to get the player on their side. I don't think having multiple players is worth it, and would rather wait an extra week and get a nice story.

In regards to point number 2, over the half the gods that signed up are not posting. This game is very big, with 21 people involved (assuming MC as Arawn is not a joke). I don't know that involving more would help much.

edit: Having multiple human players at once could be interesting, though...

exams, exams, tralalala ...

Fair points. That said, we still have the player-dependancy/slavery problem. The thing is, I think I would love to try out being a player in a DI game, but it's a "once you get in you don't get out" kind of a deal, and I know I do not have the resilience to keep the game up and running for more than 1 or 2 rounds. If it were just for 1 round (or so) though, I would be more than happy to serve with my creative writing/roleplaying abilities, without fear of being "enslaved" by the game. I am sure this is an issue for most prospective players like myself. :mischief:
