Fall from heaven SG - High to Low

I prefer 1SW. The deer tiles are going to be 2f2h for the illians, which is very nice for the start of the game.

About research: Our start is very low on commerce. Any ideas? I think going Mysticism for the Elder council + scientist spec is the best start.

There is also a deer 2S of the sheep. But I guess it doesn't really matter. 1SW might be better for commerce with the sea access.

Either location works for me. Coastal has it's benefits but then again we aren't going to be Illians for long. Either way, Sheep is the key here.

Go play already!

Coast shouldn't be considered, since we aren't going to tech fishing (huge tech in FfH)...

Yeah, in the tribal village also has 2 deer (altough one is not forested). Any choice is fine by me.

Okey, I guess I am going first then. I will settle on the tribal village (more land-> more points early). Animal Husbandry first, then..? Hunting would be awesome, but it is really expensive. Any ideas, I'll tonight, so there is still time to comment.

EDIT: And did we agree that the turn set is 20 turns? Thus I won't use the wordspell.

I decide to go for Hunting first, since it only takes ~30 turns more than AH.

Turn 1 Mahala is next to us.

Turn 4 We get a map from a tribal village. Our warrior explores a lair and goes through a portal.

Turn 10 The scouting warrior explores another lair and gets mutated. It receives Strong, Heavy, Blitz and Diseased.

Turn 11 We destroy the lair and free a Great Commander.:D I decide to attach it to our super warrior for now. Sadly it can't heal. We should use it later for a Golden Age.

Turn 14 Our super warrior discovers Crafting from a tribal village, but gets poisoned by a Giant Spider.

Turn 17 We find truffles next to Garduk.

Issues:

-Our commerce is really low, we need a second commerce city asap. There is a river south of us, so we should place it somewhere there.
-After the second city is online, we could use our world spell and even spark a Golden Age at the same time.
-We could use our super warrior + some more warriors for a desperate attack against Mahala.

Looks like a fairly good first twenty, and very well done on the dungeon crawling. I agree with the placement of the next city, maybe 1E of the river incense, but more scouting is needed there.

If the manual is right the best time for the world spell is now actually, and we could also pop the GA now too.

I'm not sure on taking on Mahala, I'd say only if we need the score to get moving.

OK according to my revised plan I'm up next so I'll hash out the rest of what I would do as well.

Second city by the incense as I said, with a third city between the furs and deer on a spot 1N.
I would add in a few warriors as well for the obvious city defense and also to give us a strike capability. The World Spell and GA to be popped as above and we can see what 30 turns of free expansion will do.

On tech I'm not too sure about hunting, it is good for the improvements, but in FFH it is very costly this early, at 1110 beakers. Ancient Chants and Myst first would be better, they are at about half of the beakers and give the important early science building of Elder Council. So I'd propose a change of tech path as well.

I can play tomorrow or Tuesday so I will wait until at least tomorrow for feedback.

And on Christmas plans, I plan on going home Wednesday, and will be out of pocket for a week at least (but probably not more than a week).

I agree about Hunting, it wasn't the best choice. You can use the Stasis now, but maybe we should wait for the Golden Age until our next (or even third) city is up and running. Currently it would be pretty much useless.

Finally some action!

Nice job (luck) on the lairs/dungeons/huts overall and that truffle event certainly doesn't hurt - especially on the Sheep which is obviously our best tile.

As far as techs go, I would go for Agri/AH so we can improve the Sheep. Sure, we don't have any use for Agriculture but the Sheep will be online long before we can get any camps going via Hunting and considering that it'll then be a 6/0/2 tile, which is obviously great. Hunting obviously has it's advantages but we need to wait very long for it to be of any use to us - that's the main argument.

Obviously a valid alternate path would be towards God King and Elder Councils but I'm personally in favor of getting some food online because let's face it - it's miserable before we get something actually getting worked in the capital.

As far as the second city goes: Definitely agree on the river due south. More scouting of the river would be in order if that can be facilitated to find whether there's any food to be had.

About Mahala: Obviously good if we need the score to move on and definitely something we should do if we don't want to switch to him (if he's still at the bottom) because the AI Auric will be a royal pain in our collective bum with his topscoring, set-up empire.

Ag>Ah is working out at 50 beakers cheaper than AC>Myst so it is a bit quicker. But on the other hand getting up a quick elder council and getting that early GSci is pretty much very strong for a normal start.

However this is not a normal start obviously. I'm actually not too sure what to do.

I would go for AC-> Mysticism over Agriculture->AH just because AC gives us momuments, which are essential for early expansion of borders for our next cities. After that maybe finish Hunting.

EDIT: Totally agree with Fleme that switching to Mahala would be awful, although he did found his capital in a decent spot with deer and corn (shown partly in the turn 4 screenshot).

Yeah maybe a push on the girl would be advisable. If there was a way to ensure Doviello weren't last though I'd keep here there, as she'll impede the AI Illians a lot. Also from the save we've only met about 1/2 of our rivals yet (it's large +3 civs making 12) so there may be someone out there even more pathetic when the time comes.

I suggest AGri > Calendar and settling the insence spot. Than we can adopt agrarianism. One thing to notice is that, the way things are going, we're making a switch to Mahala next, so maybe it's better (even tough it's hard) to eliminate her before it happens (damn diseased promotion in our imba unit).
