Fall Patch

If you look at the list of DLC, typically the PC one's separate from the Mac one. So, if there is more DLC incoming, it'll probably be 1, not 2.

BNW for Mac

Changing Worlds Map Pack: Continents (235584) Depot
Changing Worlds Map Pack: Nations (235585) Depot

Looks like the civs and continents? are getting changes.

Description makes it sound like we're getting a bundle of civs and map scripts. "Changing Worlds" could mean anything, but maybe they'll be scripts designed to take advantage of the mechanic introduced by the Scramble for Africa scenario, where each map has a fixed coast line and random interior?

I think Fall being used in American English is probably a reference to Daylight Savings Time? "Spring" forward when the days get longer and "Fall" back when they get shorter.

Also pfff at the idea of English being a decent language. I'm no linguist but it's one of the most screwed up languages in the world, and the fact that everyone has to speak it because the dominant commercial superpower has been one of two English-speaking countries for the past 400 years or so is proof that history loves to torture people.

It`s Autumn, get used to it. The English had a thousand years or so to figure out a good language from all over Europe. It`s quite a cosmopolitan language and one of the easiest to learn. I think we know what we`re talking about.

Hah. Didn't even know anyone had a problem with "fall." Silly prescriptive linguists, can't you just accept that there is more than one way to express oneself? Fall and autumn in American English are synonyms with slightly different connotations. Autumn is formal, and brings to mind the adjective form and the metaphorical autumn of ones life. In other words, a bit of a downer. Fall is casual, and expresses some of the same feelings with a lighter touch?'c through the metaphor of falling leaves. Fall is also the season of America's greatest sport and most of the greatest holidays.

On topic: I don't know the history of patches, but what are the odds of fundamental change? Personally I would just like early war to work better, and the AI advantages to be more evenly distriibuted over the course of the game. Related, actually: on high levels I'd like it to be necessary to step in early to prevent AI runaways on occasion

The last Fall Patch made a lot of significant changes (one of the biggest, for example, was that pillaging now heals units), so I definitely wouldn't discount the possibility of at least a notable change in early-game economics.

If you want to take a full look at what the last Fall Patch did, look at this: http://forums.2kgames.com/showthrea...n-quot-Fall-Patch-quot-patch-notes!-(Now-live)

Whew, just when I was afraid we were going to have to wait until Civ VI to continue detective work...
Anyway, hopefully we'll get a screenshot or something that we can analyze!

I'm not convinced that either of the 'Changing Worlds' DLC are going to contain any new civs (unfortunately) - they are both referred to as 'Map Packs' after all. I'm imagining they'll be something more along the line of the 'Explorers' Map Pack that was released at the same time as the Denmark DLC. Perhaps Firaxis/2k are simply testing the water to see if there's still enough of an interest in DLC to warrant making more?

Releasing a map pack to see if people would be interested in buying civs would backfire tremendously. I'd still buy it because I'm American like that, but a lot of people who would be excited to see new leaderheads would have zero interest in DLC that is nothing but map scripts.

It is most certainly not one of the easiest languages to learn. It's in the range of middle-hard.

Funny how this thread leads to a language discussion. I really miss the time where French was the world language.

Personally, I totally agree with you on that, but it wouldn't be the first bizarre decision that they've made...

There is still the possibilty that another new entry appears in the Steam depot over the next few weeks. I'd imagine they won't release any new content until around the same time as the fall patch.

Sorry had to comment this.

As Spanish guy, I find English an easy language even that I do not dominate it. Germanic languages would fit better in the middle-hard position, and symbolic languages, chinese languages, japanese, now that are hard: they have about ten thousand different symbols with different meanings based on context. English being an easy language is a good thing IMO.

CAn we not de-rail the thread with language-discussion?

I never knew there are new "content" in the works so I'm excited, whatever it is.
