Fall Patch

CAn we not de-rail the thread with language-discussion?

I never knew there are new "content" in the works so I'm excited, whatever it is.
I really hope the final DLC includes a new civ, because map scripts to me would seem a bit anticlimactic.

Could the last civ be another explorer one? or maybe another hypercube?

Personally I'd like an ancient one like Sumeria (still banking on them getting into Civ 6)

An explorer civ would be Spain, Portugal, and China. A hypercube civ could be any civ

I don't understand, these civ are already in the game

An explorer civ could be the Danes (remove the ski infantry by a Galleass replacement, let's say Drakkar, ocean-going)

Yeah, I feel the same way, but at this point I think it's basically guaranteed that the "Changing Worlds: Continents" one will just be some map scripts. So we'll have to bank our hopes on the "Nations" one.

I would love it if they'd finally release Sumeria and The Hittites as full civs - I mean, they've basically already been implemented in the WOAW Scenario; just need new music and leader screens. The name of the "Nations" DLC does kinda make me wonder, though, if it won't end up being some sort of "Build Your Own Civ" thing...that'd be very hard to implement I should think but completely amazing!

Any DLC with new civs gets my $ on or before release day.
Love to see Hittites and Sumerians in the game but happy with anything.
No civs but new wonders I will buy at sometime in the first month.
Just maps probably wait till it comes on special.

I know that. And I've never said they weren't in CiV

So, what's an explorer civ for you? :confused:I don't understand because I know these civ are in the game.

Regarding new content, there also seems to be a Chinese language version of Civ V in the works now too (according to the Steam database: http://steamdb.info/app/8930/#section_depots). Maybe Firaxis will release some additional Asian civs as DLC to coincide with it? Vietnam and Khmer perhaps? Either way, it's good to see that they still think it's worth doing more with the game.

Well, most of them are in CiV (Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, England etc). Maybe, Swahili? They did trade with India, Majapahit, and China.

when is this patch supposed to hit? i have one game in the freezer and would like to finish before the patch snuffs it out.

It looks like there was an update to the two 'Changing Worlds' yesterday, because the changenumber (as can be seen by clicking on the app data and looking at the history) shows the revision. I don't know for sure what this could mean, though I'm assuming by default that it's a new version of whatever they're working on that they're uploading to the Steam database, so whatever they're working on, they're keeping it updated on on Steam. Gearing up for the Fall Patch to be coming up soon, perhaps?

I saw that before I saw your post, and my first thought was immediately "Vietnam!". And then I realized it was just a language translation. But, going into searching for that, it's so far only been included in an as-of-yet unnamed Steam Sub, made at the same time, that is restricted for purchase only in China, Myanmar (on a side note, I really want to see Pagan as a civ, perhaps with a UA based on City-State bullying to reflect their history of tributary states, but that's off-topic), Korea, and then Iran, Sudan, the Syrian Arab Republic, and ... Cuba? I have no idea, but I guess we'll find out soon. Also, there's an "Unknown Country", that is represented with a BU - and I don't know what BU could stand for, though my first thought was Burma (which would be redundant because of Myanmar already).

Anyways, yeah, that's my sleuthing.

I think the 'Nations' one is primarily going to be comprised of modern/newer/industrial countries, such as Brazil in Brave New World. Either than or it's dynamic map scripts based on the shapes of various nations, such as Africa in Scramble for Africa... Which would be darn awesome! Although, 'Changing Worlds' could also fit that, and the name seems more suited for that type of thing. Though it would only be continents, and not maps of actual countries... It has it's pros and cons.

Phoenicia is a trading/exploring civilization - covered by Carthage being of phoenician origin though.

Wow, this little topic with one small question by me has grown into a full-fledged discussion thread... O_o

Finally, a chance that Canada might be in :D Considering that they said that they considered Canada instead of Brazil, I wonder what they were thinking of a UU, UB and UA

Yep, I'd bet on either Canada, Australia, or Vietnam...all of them seem to fit the "Changing Worlds" theme pretty well.

Didn't even think of that! Either way - I'm certain that Australia or Canada will be included one way or another (whether they'd be included as a civ or as a dynamic map).

Super pumped.

I could see them including Canada as a civ and including Australia as a dynamic map, and I would love to see that, actually.

EDIT: I couldn't see Canada included as a dynamic map unless they include the whole of North America, unlike Australia which is basically its own continent, so if they were intending to make one a map and the other a civ, that's why I could see Canada being the civ and Australia being the map.

It's called Autumn.

The English may be English but at least they gave us all a decent language.

'Fall' is what leafs do from trees. It's like something Hiawatha would think up.

Sorry.

Actually, leaves fall from trees. Leafs play hockey, are sometimes found in a book and are even used to extend tables. Stating that autumn is the only acceptable name for the season is akin to making the statement that cookies must be called biscuits (as the English prefer) or to demand that eveyone stop using the word cilantro as a reference to coriander.

I feel as if Canada and Australia will be DLC civs and the map pack will probably be of Australia and stuff like South America and North America
