Fall with Fleme

I reinstalled Fall Further. I played with it a little some time ago. It looks more than fine to me. I like the extras and it seems stable. One thing I didn't realize is that your alignment can change in this mod and there's more factors around it. I think it would be interesting to start as one of the neutral leaders/civs and part of the goal being to achieve a good or evil alignment based on how you want the game to go. Who knows...you might be able to fudge with some of the alignment factors even more.

The Austrin civ is interesting to me. The whole early exploration phase is probably one of the more interesting aspects of FFH for me and is in line with the whole rpg thing. This civ is all about the exploring, but does have some meat later for war and stuff. Quite a few uniques as well although the Austrin hero is kind of marginal. Diedre has the extra trait that allows additional trait changes throughout the game.

I'm fine with whatever though.

as for votes: I vote for Fall Further

as for More Naval AI - just read its description at forums. It does not introduce anything new (with exeption of minor changes to ship upgrades), only makes AI better at a lot of things

EDIT: as for civilization, I will vote for Dural: just love the idea of STUDYING gods and their will, without zaelotry

I'll vote for whatevers picked really. Half the fun will be in the finding out.

It'll take me a while to set the mod up, for some strange reason Vista doesn't like me installing FfH modmods, unless I'm in safe mode:confused:

I also had huge problems with Vista back when I was forced to use it. Usually BtS modrelated issues were solved by running all executables as administrator.

I hope this catches the interest of someone (2!) so we can get to the actual setting up next week. In the meantime I'll just keep studying for exams and writing down notes for possible events/quests : )

I can't even get into the properties to set them up as admin programmes. I had to go into safe mode with networking just to download FF.

Maybe we should post a message over at Realms Beyond, they are in a big FfH love in at the moment.

I thought yall were using FF in the Ichabod game. That's weird Brain, FF is a stand-alone modmod, that is, you don't need FFH installed to use it.

Note being able to get into properties is really bizarre. There may be some issue with how you have your account set up, but I'm not erudite in those matters. Another thing I do is right click on the main Civ folder and change the security settings to full control (full everything really) for the account and it will apply it to all subfolders.

I can run mods perfectly, but when it comes to installing mods with a FfH base the computer just shuts itself down (well ok just the explorer.exe function). I've had the same problem installing other items, so I'm 100% certain it is that piece of rubbish Vista.

Anyone have €200 to spare so they can buy me 7?

I'd join as a regular or a sub.
I'm familiar with FFH and mods, but not that much with SGs.

what are the expectations in terms of reports, playing delays, etc ?

I'm rather opposed to Orbis because of its AI weakness, but a dungeon master like you intend to be can probaby tweak the sitution to a satisfactory point anyway.
just tell us what the modmod is so we can have a look at it before playing.

As regards succession games, probably the most important aspects are, 1) punctuality (most games run on a 24hr "got it"/48hr play, giving 3 days total), 2) a fairly complete plan (at least early on, late game not so important), and 3) enough detail to cover at the very least important events. If you need to delay, skip or swap, inform the rest of the team in a timely fashion (i.e. as soon as you can).

Of course the idea of having fun, and hopefully learning somethings about the game are equally as important as etiquette.

To familiarize yourself with SGs, just look at some of the games on this forum. The one by Ichabod is on FfH2 and it's not complicated at all. This is coming from someone who literally just started playing SGs and got hooked.

Indeed, these games are about discussion, agreeing on the goals and on the plan how to get there. This particular game will most likely have more of that discussion as there are quests and hand made events to discuss on top of the actual game play but the premise remains the same.

Thanks for the sign-up Old_Lion!

Brian: Really sucks about the Vista thing, but hopefully you can work around it so that it functions. I had totally forgotten about Realms Beyond - maybe I'll go take a look today at work!

I have played SG games before, but never Divine Intervention games or nothing similar...

The way I see it, this is going to be a sort of a combo of reverse divine intervention (traditionally there are several people intervening and one people playing, not the other way around), succession and to a degree, demogame as the quests and events I give will involve options which will occasionally have effects that carry on for longer than appears on the actual text and it's also a first time for me doing stuff like that. However, I'm sure that once we get rolling, it'll actually work fine and stuff will run its course as I've imagined it.

I see it going down is roughly along the lines of:

Player 1 plays his turns, let's say 10 turns; Provides report and save of what he did as he would in a regular SG. I will put markers on quest locations and hope you provide a screenshot of your scout/hero unit on the quest location if this occurred during your set.

I post possible events that occurred during the set, inform you about quests if you triggered any and make the necessary alterations to the map.

At this point, if the Quest/Event posted has options, you as a team will get to decide on which option to choose at which point I will react to your choice and then post the save for the next player to play.

Alternatively, if you wish that there is a "lag" with the quests/events and that they are slowing the game down too much as is, we can have the quests and events requiring decisions to have a lag of one turnset, meaning that while the next player is playing, the team can decide on what to do with the event although this is somewhat problematic as it may lead to the "adventure" game progressing illogically at parts. Note! Some storylines obviously won't require immediate decisions and you can weigh your choices based on the experiences of the coming turns and some quests will simply have a turn limit for completion.

However, as its in noones best interest to make unnecessary delays, I think we should enforce a 24h deciding time at tops for points that require decisions and let majority decide.

Let's say lymond posts a save and I take a look at it and see that he triggered a pirate event, which offers the choice between giving a letter of marque to them or outlawing their actions, this would lead to a short period of discussion before the next player steps in. Usually in SG's, what I've seen in the one I played and from reading others, there is often discussion between turnsets anyways and since I will have my schedule wide open, I will hopefully be able to facilitate it so that I can get the saves fast, post my stuff and then have you decide and move on with the game.

I hope this doesn't sound too heavy of a structure, it's the one I could come up with. Any thoughts?

ok
my problem is, that I cannot take screenshots :(
I tries what I can but without success
is it acceptable? or would you like to look for another player?

That's an issue we can definitely work around so don't sweat it. Strange though. What happens when you hit Print Screen in game? Nothing?

No, there is a screenshot file but the screenshot is... 'unreadible' - look at the attachment

Hm, that's a bummer. Either way, a report is just as fine as screenies and since the sets won't be very long any way, it's not a huge loss to miss out on a few screenies so long as the reports are in shape.

ok
I will try my best

That's very strange about your screenies, Jarrema. Seems like I've seen something like that before - maybe even on my own PC, but can't recall what the issue was at the time. You might try a 3rd party screen capture tool. SnagIt is a very good one that I use professionally - here's a link to a free trial:

SnagIt

If that does not work then there is a problem inherent to your PC.

Fleme - Everything is sounding great so far. I'm assuming we are going with FF. I've been tooling around with it of late. I've always played FFH very casually so I need to up the difficulty in my test games. I have always noticed that the AI was pretty lame on lower levels.

Anyway, I was curious if you have narrowed down a list of potential civs you might use for the game. I'm fine with any you choose and have already mentioned my suggestion for one, but I would like an idea so I can start familiarizing myself with it.

Brian - Did you try that latest RB FFH scenario? I'm curious as to how hard it is. Might try it for fun.
