Alexandria's Empire

Name: Alexandria's Empire
Leader: Queen Alexandria Alexandou
Capital: Officially a new settlement called Pella, which is most likely only somewhere near the historical city. De facto, the capital is the campgrounds for Alexandria's empire, which the elusive warlady leads on the battlefield.

Light/Irregular Troops: Toxotes (plural: Toxotai)- Light skirmishers that wield whatever firearms the Empire can salvage in the wastelands.Wear little to no armor so they can easily move around the battlefield, and have some proficiency in guerrilla warfare. Have a preference for accurate weapons with long effective ranges to maximize their range advantages. Sniper rifles (whether military grade or hunting rifles) are extremely common.

Regular Troops: Hoplite- Armored soldiers that make up the majority of the Empire's army. Have decent amount of protection, and will generally carry an assault rifle or SMG for ranged combat, and some sort of melee weapon (like a xiphos sword) for melee charges (they are expected to engage in melee combat in battle). Thanks to the policy that soldiers are to bring their own equipment, there is no standard in what exactly is used.

Heavy Troops: Hetairoi- Mounted soldiers taught how to use firearms on horseback. Receives only the highest quality armor and weapons that the Empire can salvage or make, they serve as shock units, designed to crush whatever defenses the enemy may have. They are hand-selected by the Queen herself by the strongest and most loyal soldiers, and often serve as her bodyguards outside of the battlefield. Also known as Companion Calvary

History: Less of a nation and more of the biggest warband eastern Europe has seen since 2077, the quasi-state known as Alexandria's Empire was formed, and lives and dies on the actions of, Alexandria. If her last name was always Alexandou is unknown to all but herself and her closest comrades, but she uses it now, and proclaims she is the direct decedent of Alexander the Great.

Blood relation or not, she shares his battlefield genius; with only a small band of fervent supporters, Alexandria successfully waved the orange lambda over settlement after settlement in Greek Macedonia. She offered any defeated warrior the opportunity to campaign with her to win glory and riches, and her army slowly grew in size after every single conquest. However, more promises of land and wealth meant that she continuously needed to invade more and more communities to obtain the land and wealth, and to keep the peace, she had to promise them the same things.

Currently, Alexandria is still in this vicious cycle. Reportingly undefeated in battle, Alexandria is forced once again to march her armies into battle, for the stability of her realm. Rumors that she is heartbroken and tired of the constant bloodshed she has to endure in this pyramid scheme of a nation are of course enemy propaganda and is in no way true.

Society:

The Empire is very cosmopolitan; anyone who wishes to pick up a weapon to fight for the Queen is welcomed to do so, no matter their origins. This has created a large and diverse army, united only to their allegiance to their monarch. The most odd feature of the army, however, is the large proportion of female soldiers. Estimated to make up about 75% of the entire armed forces, it is theorized that, since Alexandria herself is a woman and that most of her initial followers were also women, they feel more welcomed to join her cause than males are. However, the army is strictly egalitarian; there is no discrimination based on sex.

Politics outside of the army simply don't exist past a regional level. As Alexandria's main focus is on warfare and expansion, she has a very hands-off approach when it comes to government. The Queen will appoint a representative she trusts to be the de-facto leader of a recently conquered town, but said representative is mostly a figurehead of her authority. The actual politics of the town is generally left unchecked, and besides paying taxes to Alexandria, generally go about as if nothing happened (There are a few exceptions, like overturning any local discrimination laws that they find).

There are a whole slew of religions in the Empire, too many to list. The three most common faiths include Orthodox Christianity, Helixism, and Greek neopaganism. It is the latter one that Alexandria is herself, and could be considered the largest of the three (Although Helixism is about the same size, with Christianity being much smaller by comparison). There is guaranteed freedom of religion across the empire, which has led many conflicts with conquered theocracies.

Pavel saw his first horse* when he turned twelve. His mother had gotten a job working as a servant in the manor of one of the New Men aboveground, and it came with room and board for her and him. A small carriage pulled by two horses waited near the entrance of a metrogate which took them to the manor.

Horses! The boy had taken to them quickly and, soon enough, he found himself riding one alongside other boys under the watchful eye of an officer in the Petrograd Defense Force. Over the next few months, some boys had left, and those that remained were dehorsed and trained to use bow and rifle and hammer. More boys would be forced to go home after those grueling months of torment, but Pavel remained.

"We're coming up on Volkhov. Be prepared for anything!" The man in charge of the trio orders. Three men wearing black parka PSPA, including the leader, Pavel Fyodorov, ride south along a former highway. Pavel's horse stands in stark contrast to the horses of his two underlings: his being, how you say, "fresher", of better stock. Horses may have survived, but it would be a few more generations before all the duds in the gene pool are cleaned out for good.

"Why doesn't PSPA-Volkhov handle the matter?" Asks a tax agent. "Aren't we intruding on jurisdiction?"

"PSPA-V sent a messenger to us," Pavel answers. "The director of the city says the matter is too political."

"Political how?" Another soldier, the older one, asked.

"Merchant."

The three ride in silence aside from the sounds of the river. Volkhov rises in the near distance on the banks of the Volkhov River. Volkhov is a small town, but it wasn't spared the great war. For what reason Pavel himself did not know, but he suspects it has something to do with the ruins of a structure rising out of the river (the hydroelectric station). Boats sail on the river. Military hands wave. Some civilian hands do as well.

The three arrived when the sun is at its highest. For politics, you arrive in the light in the day or risk complications. For every other type of tax evader, you come at night while the criminal sleeps to reduce complication.

Pavel proceeds to the PSPA-V Office (built above ground no less!), finds directions and information, and heads southward more.

Today, they will be dealing with a merchant. Not any kind of merchant, unfortunately. A New Man.

Maybe there won't be complication. When confronted, the merchant may simply realize he is in error and give the government its due without any worry or bloodshed or threats or bribes.

Maybe.

*Horses are extinct in North America, but there's no indication whether they're extinct globally. In Petrograd, the first horses were imports brought in via the traders decades ago, with breeding stock only established within the last forty years. I'm assuming horses survived somewhere for a few reasons, including the sheer size of Russia and, more selfishly, the sheer size of Russia.

We, the descendants of Zorro, the Man in the Mask, and Aster, the Great Space Rock Mother, have come to claim the Lands of the Great Satan, consort to the Ancient and Revered Sadom Hussone, as our birthright. The Earth shall tremble as our Cattleracks scourge the land! Your women will be taken, your animals will be slaughtered, and your children will be used as bowling pins! All who stand in our path shall be slain, lest they pay us a modest sum to be negotiated at a further date!

Edited my post with stats and army.

A scholar has just discovered a mistranslation in one of our ancient holy texts.

The "Lands of Stan" should, in fact, be "Lands of Satan." Satan has been reincorporated as the brother of Zorro. All we have found on him is that he and an ancient Iraqi ruler named "Sadom Hussone" were romantically involved.

Alright im actually quite happy with the current map. we have 14 nations on the map, 2 players that have yet to post a map, and one prospective player.

I'm NOT closing sign ups, HOWEVER I am going to say that the game will start very soon, at the latest probably Friday or Saturday, at the earliest hopefully Wednesday Night.

For people who still want to join (in order of emptyness), Carpathia, Central Asia, Anatolia, and the Baltics/Northern Ruthinia are still fairly open

Anyways here is the map as it currently stands.

History:

In times of crisis, many people attempt go back to a more peaceful time by reverting their minds back to that time. They cling to tradition, religion and will blindly follow someone who reminds them of the past that is gone forever. For the people of North-East Russia, Anastasia IV was that person.

Anastasia Romanov the Fourth claimed to be the great-granddaughter of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov. She claimed that her supposed great-grandmother escaped execution at the hands of the Soviets and fled to Murmansk to escape to Britain. However, when their contact in Murmansk was killed by the Soviets for harbouring anti-Communists, Anastasia decided to hide in the Murmansk Oblast (the region, not the city) and wait until the time came until her (or her ancestors) could come forward and reclaim the throne. Anastasia IV claimed that now was the time and that she and her ancestors would lead the Russian people to a new future.

Despite the very dubious tale, Anastasia IV managed to convince a large group of terrified people in the Murmansk Oblast to follow her. Eventually she took over the entire Oblast, purging all those who did not believe in her tales or her strict interpretation of the Orthodox Church. Anastasia IV was crowned “Empress of Russia” in Nova Murmansk, the newly constructed capital city of her empire.

Anastasia IV and her ancestors, Nicholas III and Michael III, slowly expanded the Tsardom into the Arkhanglesk Oblast and Karliea Region as well as enforcing the neo-feudalist policies on the populace.

With the recent death of Michael III, Peter II has ascended to the throne. He has inherited a Tsardom covering the inhabitable regions of the Murmansk and Arkhanglesk Oblasts as well as the Karliea Region. The state is in a similar situation to 1900s Russia, except with much better technology, much less dissent and a much more efficient bureaucracy allowing for much better management of dissent. Peter II is named after Peter the Great, Peter II wants to follow in his forbearers’ footsteps and become a great ruler. His one goal is to reunite the Russian Empire under his rule.

Have you ever played a Fallout game?
Imagine a combination of 50s sci-fi and post-apocalyptic wastelands and that's a good start. There are zombie-ish creatures created by radiation, gigantic mutated insects, and in America, there are gigantic, yet idiotic giant mutants.

Aww, really VGL, :(

Well if you don't want to play I can't force you, but I think it would be nice if you stayed.

Imagine a combination of 50s sci-fi and post-apocalyptic wastelands and that's a good start.

Throw in a hint of Wild West and I think you would pretty much be spot on cived.

Wait, i thought you guys didn't like me? And can you show me an example of a Fallout?
