Light/Irregular Troops: Toxotes (plural: Toxotai)- Light skirmishers that wield whatever firearms the Empire can salvage in the wastelands.Wear little to no armor so they can easily move around the battlefield, and have some proficiency in guerrilla warfare. Have a preference for accurate weapons with long effective ranges to maximize their range advantages. Sniper rifles (whether military grade or hunting rifles) are extremely common.
Regular Troops: Hoplite- Armored soldiers that make up the majority of the Empire's army. Have decent amount of protection, and will generally carry an assault rifle or SMG for ranged combat, and some sort of melee weapon (like a xiphos sword) for melee charges (they are expected to engage in melee combat in battle). Thanks to the policy that soldiers are to bring their own equipment, there is no standard in what exactly is used.
Heavy Troops: Hetairoi- Mounted soldiers taught how to use firearms on horseback. Receives only the highest quality armor and weapons that the Empire can salvage or make, they serve as shock units, designed to crush whatever defenses the enemy may have. They are hand-selected by the Queen herself by the strongest and most loyal soldiers, and often serve as her bodyguards outside of the battlefield. Also known as Companion Calvary
History: Less of a nation and more of the biggest warband eastern Europe has seen since 2077, the quasi-state known as Alexandria's Empire was formed, and lives and dies on the actions of, Alexandria. If her last name was always Alexandou is unknown to all but herself and her closest comrades, but she uses it now, and proclaims she is the direct decedent of Alexander the Great.
Blood relation or not, she shares his battlefield genius; with only a small band of fervent supporters, Alexandria successfully waved the orange lambda over settlement after settlement in Greek Macedonia. She offered any defeated warrior the opportunity to campaign with her to win glory and riches, and her army slowly grew in size after every single conquest. However, more promises of land and wealth meant that she continuously needed to invade more and more communities to obtain the land and wealth, and to keep the peace, she had to promise them the same things.
Currently, Alexandria is still in this vicious cycle. Reportingly undefeated in battle, Alexandria is forced once again to march her armies into battle, for the stability of her realm. Rumors that she is heartbroken and tired of the constant bloodshed she has to endure in this
Society:
The Empire is very cosmopolitan; anyone who wishes to pick up a weapon to fight for the Queen is welcomed to do so, no matter their origins. This has created a large and diverse army, united only to their allegiance to their monarch. The most odd feature of the army, however, is the large proportion of female soldiers. Estimated to make up about 75% of the entire armed forces, it is theorized that, since Alexandria herself is a woman and that most of her initial followers were also women, they feel more welcomed to join her cause than males are. However, the army is strictly egalitarian; there is no discrimination based on sex.
Politics outside of the army simply don't exist past a regional level. As Alexandria's main focus is on warfare and expansion, she has a very hands-off approach when it comes to government. The Queen will appoint a representative she trusts to be the de-facto leader of a recently conquered town, but said representative is mostly a figurehead of her authority. The actual politics of the town is generally left unchecked, and besides paying taxes to Alexandria, generally go about as if nothing happened (There are a few exceptions, like overturning any local discrimination laws that they find).
There are a whole slew of religions in the Empire, too many to list. The three most common faiths include Orthodox Christianity, Helixism, and Greek neopaganism. It is the latter one that Alexandria is herself, and could be considered the largest of the three (Although Helixism is about the same size, with Christianity being much smaller by comparison). There is guaranteed freedom of religion across the empire, which has led many conflicts with conquered theocracies.
