Fallout IOT: Back in the USSR

UPDATE: 0

Spoiler :
*Moscow nights plays*

Good Morning comrades, this is Crazy Ivan and you are listening to radio Moskva. The people's source for entertainment and news in the wasteland. And a warm welcome to our new comrades as far south as the Republic of Athens.

That is right Comrades, radio Moskva is now broadcasting over the entirety of the WarPac Wasteland. And it is all thanks to our little Acolyte, our bringer of peace and friendship. Thanks to her, radio Moskva now broadcasts loud and clear though the entire wasteland. Continue fighting for the people my friend.

Now for other news.

Down in Greece that warlady Alexandria has sacked yet another settlement on her so called empire's border. And her diplomacy if it can even be called that with the Republic of Athens has shown her true colors. She will not stop her barbaric conquest and enslavement until every peaceful people has been crushed under her boot. Her supporters believe that she is bringing peace to the wasteland, but I see her as she truly is, a blood thirsty conqueror bent on the subjugation, enslavement, and death of all those who oppose her. Putting her in the company of such great men as Adolf Hitler of Germany and Joseph Stalin, the man who murdered the dream of Marx and Lenin. *spits*

Meanwhile in the republic of Athens, the government is getting ready to pass a new series of social welfare programs for the betterment of the people of Athens. Of course this will also result in higher taxes for the Athenians, but freedom from the shackles and enslavement of the bourgeoisie (booz wa zee) must always come at a price. It warms my heart to know that the struggles of the common man are still considered issues worthy of fixing in this post apocalyptic world. Today is a good day for socialism, and I would like to wish the republic the best of luck in this endeavor.

Meanwhile in the Petrograd Republic, a major source of corruption has been removed, making the state's tax collection more efficient. ... At the cost of not one, but ten lives, including a that of a child whose only crime was being the son of the embezzling tax collector.

Further up north on the Kola Peninsula a dark and historic meeting took place. This meeting known as the Murmansk Concordant united the Petrograd Republic with the Tsarist revivalists in Murmansk. Truly today is a dark day for the Russian peoples. Stay strong comrades and remember that this oppression is temporary and that the workers will rise again!

As usual there is little news from the Dominion and the Agency, who knows what form of oppression and horror goes on in those two states.

Finally our last story for today, the Hoxhaist forces in Albania have raided and sacked a small village in on the former borders of Albania and Kosovo, as far as I have heard there have been no survivors. But from what I have heard they were searching for something, what it is I do not know but these acts of aggression, violence, and evil in the name of Communism and the people will be stopped.

This has been Crazy Ivan with Radio Moskva. Remember the Fight for the People. And now Comrades, here is the Partisan’s Song, sung by the Red Army Choir.

*Partisan's song plays*

The second post has been updated with nations and known NPC's

Everyone has 3 claims this turn.

Last edited:
The Philosopher Council has in wisdom made plans of expansion for the development of the Republic.

Plato Plot.png

Blue land is the 3 provinces we are to claim this turn.

Green is potential lands we are planning to claim to buffer the defense of Yemek from possible aggression from the unenlightened.

Red is likely to be claimed by our neighbors and will be in our interest to border with.

Dark green is Turkey: we have as of this time desires to expand into Turkey but as our nearest fellow powers are of the European side of the gap that leads to the Black Sea then Turkey is of a interest in time; for now we must prepare the defense.

White is... white.

We offer non-aggression to the Greek nations and wish for a Joint Academia Pact to encourage academics from all our lands to work together to improve our educations.

Greetings, Tovarizsze! This is General Pawel Domen, and I am proud to announce your subserviance to the GROM, effective immediately! The price for our peace is not great - merely taxes and manpower. We are the true Poles. They aren’t. Watch out for them!

Claims going up for now.

EDIT: Terran, holy crap, props for going out and recording that entire update. It may take a while for you to deliver, but when you do, you DELIVER.

Social Welfare Program ratified by Parliament

rnvyIUF.jpg

- President Antonis Kanakis

The Athenian Parliament has ratified a package of reforms which shall increase taxes but also introduce a social welfare program. The government shall give financial help to poor and homeless people, working conditions have to be improved or otherwise companies shall be fined, people who are not afforded the money to go to holidays shall go for 10 days in state-paid holidays, stricter laws are to be enforced for the protection of the environment, minimal wages have been increased and there will be better and faster services in public hospitals and generally in the public sector.

The taxes have been increased by 11% directly and 3% indirectly for most people. For the richest citizens, taxes have been increased by 16%. At the same time, the wages of MP's and Ministers have been cut by 35% while the wage of the President has been cut by 59%.

President Antonis Kanakis stated: "Those reforms are a step further for a new and more humane Socialist future. We of the Liberal Party believe that people come first and money second. How can we witness homeless people and people so poor that they cannot afford the basic human needs and do nothing? However, this legislation helps not only the poor but all of us. It will make the public sector better, it will protect our environment, it shall make sure that each of you is well paid and works under humane conditions. Of course those measures, in order to become reality, needed an increase in taxes. It is a sacrifice we must make if we want a better future. I myself have cut my wage by more than half. We must all work hard towards a new Socialist future."

The Orthodox Rally leader Vagelis Venizelos said: "Those new reforms will do nothing more than harm our economy. By enforcing such strict legislation and by overtaxing them, the government will make companies bankrupt or force them to leave the country. We all have to pay more and more taxes and being rich has become a crime! Antonis Kanakis is nothing more than a populist who increases taxes in order to use our money to buy off voters!"

President Antonis Kanakis replied that Vagelis Venizelos is a mouthpiece of the large companies who cares not for the workers' rights or for the poor people and that he is the one who is populist.

We will put more states states and show you their laws and constitutions. We will also tell you about a new law being debated about abolishing death penalty.

OOC: Why didn't you write about my nation in the update?

OOC: Just realised I made a slight mistake in my signup, Peter II should be Peter IV. Just a head's up.

“Emperor.” General Vladimir said as he knocked on Peter IV’s door.

“Vlad…” said Peter IV bitterly. “It’s 2am! Can’t this wait until the morning?”

“It is the morning.” replied the General as he continued to knock. “This is important.”

“Fine, fine,” grumbled Peter “Let me get pants on first…” after a few minutes of shuffling, Peter opened the door. He was shirtless and looked very cross. The General could see around a dozen prostitutes of both genders scattered across the room.

“Don’t just stand there like an idiot.” said Peter angrily. “You know how important rest and relaxation is for me, so this has to be important to interrupt me. Speak!”

“Our vassals, the Petrograd Republic, have expanded in Finland and have caused a diplomatic incident with a country known as the Helsinki Dominion. They believe that our vassal’s expansion is a threat to their nation. There is an angry Dominionese diplomat waiting ” Peter laughed.

“You are wrong,” said Peter “There is no such thing as the Helsinki Domnion. They are merely heretics who dare to occupy my lands.” Peter clapped his hands together “We will use this Dominion to set an example to others who do not recognize me as their ruler. Send them the head of this impatient diplomat and an ultimatum. Finland will be the next area reclaimed by the Empire.”

“It…it will be done my liege” said the General. He understood that Peter’s reasoning would be fifty steps ahead of him, this bold action would surely intimidate the Dominion into compliance. And if it didn’t, it would show the world that they truly mean business.

“Good.” said Peter in a serious manner. “I will return to my, business.” He smiled a devilish smile and slammed the door loudly, waking up many of the prostitutes.

The General sighed. Peter had an unstoppable sexual appetite. It was probably a side effect of his the genetic engineering that was performed on him to make him the greatest ruler possible. It had worked, but rumours of his lust had escaped the palace. It did not matter though. Vladimir knew in his heart that Peter would be the one to unite Russia once and forever more.

The General walked into the room with the diplomat as he slowly pulled out his knife.

“Ah General,” said the diplomat “I was just tasting your…no, what are you doing?” There was a scream, then silence.

To the pretentious “rulers” of the Dominion,

You will submit to Russian Empire and recognize me as your leader. You will become our vassals. You will be allowed complete autonomy in domestic matters, similarly to the Petrograd Republic, if you accept us as your ruler. This is your only chance to submit to my rule peacefully, there will not be an offer this lenient when we are burning your cities to the ground.

Signed,

Emperor Peter IV Romanov, Emperor of Russia, Tsar of the North and Protector of Petrograd

“Are you sure this is it?” said the female cultist to the male cultist.

“I blew most our savings on it,” said the male cultist “It damned well better be. And look at all the chains on it, they wouldn’t bother putting this on a fake.” The two cultists looked to their prize, a coffin. It was covered in so many chains that you could not see the wood at all.

“Well, you’re probably right.” said the female cultist. “I’ll go get the sacrificial goats.”

“There’s no need for that.” said a voice emanating from the coffin. “Did you really think that they actually killed me? Just get these chains off of this box.”

“YES MASTER” said the two cultists in unison as they scrambled to undo the chains with heavy equipment. After about fifteen minutes of hard labour, the coffin lid flew open. The two cultists kneeled before the man who burst out of the coffin.

“Our master has returned!” said the two cultists “Praise Grigori Rasputin!”

“It took you long enough.” said the mutant known as Rasputin. He was dressed in a priest's robes, which was almost an insult to god considering his congregation was anything but Christian.

“It really has been a long time, hasn't it?”

The Bosphorus Bridge stood but injured, failed to be maintained after the atomic exchange. If that was not all the bridge had suffered damages during the troubles as the Great War, as both Turkish and Greek nationalist forces striving their claim to the ancient city of what was then Istanbul used the bridge as one of their battlegrounds. The waters under and round the bridge were still but flowing with activity as the Platonic Republic resulted to small based shipping as they had found it unable as of yet to once again have the bridge maintained for safe passages. The Protective Caste had been ordered to block off the routes onto the bridge. The shipping hence came the means to bridge the watery gap between eastern and western halves of the Platonic Republic.

Sanem Benli of the Philosopher Council stood with snow white dress and royal blue khilmar observed the bridge as the ferry she was on crossed from the east to Yemek. Next to her stood Tuncay Yilmaz of a servitude position among the Philosopher Council as her page and student, covered by deep blue hooded robes from head to toe. Green clothed guards of the Protective Caste were positioned around the vessel to defend both the blue clothed Governing Caste and the red clothed Productive Caste.

“A radient view” remark Sanem Benli on the scenery, turning to her page in gentle swiftness. “Tis a shame we cannot use that bridge; the Great War has changed many things yet for its blessing of allowing us teachers of Plato to serve as the primal guides of civilization we fear that the destructive impacts of an atomic storm are as ever evident.”

“”War changes many things even though war does not in itself changes” Alesky Hatzis once said” when the page. “Hatzis also said “war is the mountain that forces all to adopt to it without needed to adopt to them.””

“True” went Benli “but does war not change itself as it changes overs? I do not think the Greek-Persian wars or the sacking of Constantinople by the proud Ottomans or even the horrors of the so called World Wars of the 20th century were as dooms bringing as this. If war is forever a continuity that is stronger than evens the hardest mountain then it is even more blessed that it will be chained by the wisdom of the philosophers who will govern in the name of peace.“

“If mountains can erode” went Yilmaz “then there might be a chance.”

“Who knows o student?” went Benli. “Perhaps Hatzis was wrong; war are stronger than mountains. It is evident that wars make even mountains into clay or at the least the type of war that could cause so much suffering in 2 hours. No... I cannot call Hatzis wrong for one cannot make out the true strength of the horror.”

“Perhaps we should ponder on the mysteries of war with the green coated troops?” went Yilmaz. “After all their duty involves war.”

“Yes but they purpose to action, not deep thought” went Hatzis. “They are meant to think strategically and tactically to serve the Republic in its protection; they may go into deep thought indeed but action without thought is illness so we must as the intellectual position in the Republic think on behalf of all.”

“Such a duty is mass…” the page was about to begin only to hear the whistle of the boat docking.

The simple boat they were on arrived at a docking port which they step foot upon. Though Yemek was fortunate to avoid the wroth of a bomb the great migrations for resources, political instability and genuine excuses for chaos had showed its toll on the mighty city, scared not through nuclear fire but from the madness humanity endured after those 2 cleansing hours that ended all former eras.

As both philosopher queen and student walked them mass a mass crowd of younglings set around a stage with an educator upon it. “Turkey and Greece both disbanded as nations during the chaos that erupted from the 2 hour doomsday that time ago” a blue hooded and robed figure spoke to a crowd of young members of the productive and protective castes as well as children all too young yet to be granted either of the three caste colours so were instead clad in yellow as their primal distinction. “Even that which was not engulfed by atomic flame was burned by it as Istanbul ended up becoming a central attraction of conflict. From chaos emerged order as minds strived to the ways of the classical to resolve the great conflicts. The Platonic Republic emerged by the unity of the scholars Alesky Hatzis and Fatma Kobal with the Turkish militant order the Children of the Flame. The scholars managed to convince enough surviving intellectuals to begin a campaign of hearts and mind with the declaration of justice. With the Childrens’ aid we restored order to Istanbul, renaming it Yemek in honour of our classical teacher who gave us the guide to justice and unity.”

Of course history is not as smooth road that public historian proclaimed: it was common knowledge that Hatzi and Kobal did not exactly give not the full details of the new society to the masses, nor did intrigue with its many sins escape their capabilities. This yet must not trouble Benli who regarded what was regarded as necessary by the Republic as necessary. Her focus on a street café and within a blue hooded figure she was set to meet. Her student followed into “Café Agnes” which the Agnes family were asked by Benli to give her simply a small glass of raki; Yilmaz dictated the same order. They took their glasses to the table of the blue hooded figure for this figure was Alfio Milonas whose small but bushy grey beird met with copper eyes as he greeted the two fellow members of the Governing Caste with a simple fig sign. “How was the boat journey” spoke Alfio to Sanem and Tuncay.

“Pleasant” went Yilmaz.

“And your operations in Turkey?” went Milonas.

“Smooth but the signts… are needs to secure Turkey as ever evident” spoke Yilmaz. “It is our duty to restore meaning to those lost in the horrors of chaos.”

“Tis a burden we must wield” spoke Milonas.

“Then why we not heading to claim our ancestor’s stead before our claimants towards the Macedonians?” spoke Yilmaz. “Tis vital we unite the Turkish populace against chaos.”

“Tis the tongue of the youth that forgets the duty for all, including Turkish and Greek alike” spoke Milonas. "Plato was Greek and our learning are to Turkish-Greek unity."

“In truer it is not the ill of youth for even the olden can forget the dangers” spoke Benli. “Queen Alexandria could bring ruin if we do not buffer our positions. My mission to aid the union of Turkey with the way of Plato can be done after we have shielded ourselves from Alexandria and henceforth secured Yemek totally. Thrace once safe will be the vehicle to greater unities.”

“True” spoke Milonas. “Alexandria adds a… complication to our overall expansion efforts. It is necessary we bring ourselves closer with the Athenians for their mutual interests while we attempt to offer Alexandria the wisdom of a non-aggression pact. We cannot afford war.”

“It is said that “war never changes but war changes everything”” spoke Yilmaz.

“I believe Kobal said that” spoke Milonas. “You’re learning your sayings well student.”

“It was stated by Kobal too that “it is the virtue of the young to learn from the old and the vice of either to forsake the teachings the other hold”” spoke Yilmaz. “I do as part of my duty as one that learn the ways of the Governing Caste.”

“And you will one day be a philosopher king perhaps” spoke Benli. “But forgive me Milonas for I and my student well have chatted and drank with thee must consider taking the report we have to the Council.”

“Of course” Milonas went. “I too better head off. Why not together?” He unleashed a small laughter after that statement.

“Tis acceptable” spoke Benli.

They all were sure they paid to the café and went off hence to the gathering of their caste…

New Immigration Bill

LJqhwCI.jpg

- President Antonis Kanakis

The government prepares a new bill which shall reform the immigration laws and shall make immigration to Athens and registration for Athenian citizenship easier. The new law shall allow everyone who wants to migrate to the Athenian Republic to do so, the only exception being people suspected of criminal acts or of being radicals.

Migrants shall be given shelter in Athens, Thebes or Corinth in special government camps until they can find a place to live. They shall also be given financial help to help them buy/rent a house and set up a business. After living for one year in Athens, they can apply for Athenian citizenship.

This new bill is expected to boost immigration to Athens as the financial help to migrants and the welfare for Athenian citizens will certainly attract quite a lot of people. Some have questioned the ability of the government to give financial help if the number of immigrants becomes too large but the government says that the costs will be offset by the taxation of the migrants once they become citizens, a decrease in expenditure by the government (such as the salary of MPs and Ministers) and a minimal increase in taxation of cigarettes and alcohol by 4%. The government is also expecting that those migrants, thanks to the government's financial help, will set up businesses which shall in turn boost the economy while the already existing businesses shall gain new costumers.

The Orthodox Rally leader Vagelis Venizelos said: "We have to pay more money in taxes in order for some foreigners to enjoy the same luxuries as we, the Athenians! Our money are not being spend on making our lives better but the lives of some foreigners! Soon, this will not the Republic of Athens but the Republic of Migrants!"

In a speech in Corinth, President Antonis Kanakis said: "How can possibly live here in relative luxury when people just a few miles outside of our borders die because of poverty?! Are we still humans if we do not act? Athens is a Republic that is open to everyone who likes freedom and is hard working. Like USA of the old became a powerhouse due to the migrants' skills and hard work, so can Athens benefit from migration. All those migrants will not only set up new businesses that will boost our economy, will not only be willing to work hard in your shops and farms, but they will also buy products from you. You will gain thousands of new costumers which means that you will have a larger income. So, you yourselves shall be benefited by this."

Polls have shown that 65% of the Athenians support the new measures, especially those who live in rural areas and need additional working hands for their farms, 20% oppose them and the rest 15% are neutral.

EXPANSION INTO THE SEA!

Today is a great moment for the Kingdom of Warsaw for we have restored Kalingrad into control of a Polish entity. The Border Patrol has defeated the bandits occupying the city and restored law and order into the cities of Kalingrad. On the streets, their cities are cheering to the marching Warsawite army. The Warsawite high general, Witalis Radek, promises that much of what was Poland will also restore it's law and order.

Attached to this issue you will find a map of the claims.

PROPOSAL TO KRAKOW

Written by: Crown Prince Wendelin Gronowski

We Warsawites want to divide Poland between both of our states so that we won't have any problems. While we want to let you have control of part of the Polish shoreline and your rightful territories at the south of Poland, we will secure the surroundings of Warsaw for defending the capital.

Maybe that unconquered province to the west of our lands could be yours if this is not enough, but we're not stepping down more than that. Warsaw needs to be defensible.
