Farewell Poopsmith

I am pleased we have such experts in our midst. :)
Expert? No need for experts.

Ok, so the world is crap. I'm sorry some people feel that way.
The world is pretty spectacularly awesome actually. And the universe is about 16 times more awesomer.

What parts of it specifically? Do people hate sedimentary rocks, the wind, the fact that we are mortal? I'm not trying to be aloof I'm actually rather at a loss at where to start picking. "Your faith is crap because my existence doesn't live up to my expectations" sounds about on par with "Tide comes in and out, you can't explain that!"
I don't like rocks. I like rock, not rocks.

When have I ever called someone's faith crap? I just mentioned an omni-everything entity should have done a better job. A natural process I can excuse for some of the glaring errors, since it's motivated by laws beyond it's control (all of them), but not a know-it-all deity. So, sorry to have been so judgemental towards a deity which is supposed to be able to do anything no matter how contra but which you might have a special relation with, but logic and reason made me do it.

It's just an opinion mate. I can't help it if it rings true enough for you to feel uncomfortable. ;)

 Not sure why I read that in Rainbow Dash's voice, but w/e!

Uncomfortable isn't really the right word, but I could see where you might assume that. It's more exasperation with people buying portions of an opposing premise that they want to pick at while flat ignoring the parts they don't have an answer for.

Who is to say a deity is not a natural force? The definition of the Christian God would seem to encompass both that which is natural and unnatural. At what point would our vantage be lofty enough to decide we see and understand the whole of existence? It would seem at it's core that particular religion says "be excellent to one another." I understand discussions with literalists are frustrating, but I think we can do better by discussing the specifics of an issue and running them past that laudable goal than by becoming frustrated and stooping to broadsides at the framework in its entirety. It just isn't productive.

I'm a non-practising Christian myself, but the respective Protestant denominations of myself and GW are so far apart, I seem to have more in common with atheists! That is what makes conversations like this so "interesting".

I don't really understand literalists either, especially since they seem to write so many notes in the margin and then take those literally too.

@FB. Everything I said was based on the idea of an all-powerful, all-knowing God. Not about religion and certainly not specifically about Christianity. You might want to check out my Preaching Christianity thread where I'm promoting the 'be excellent to each other' mindset.

I always try to be very specific in critcism when it's related to religion.

I appreciate the invitation but I'm just not interested enough to frequent threads entirely about religion. I get enough of those conversations without needing to come here for them :)

To be fair the original comment that triggered your response wasn't actually directed at you.
