Favorite Computer Games Other Than Civ Series

I'm down with Madden since '91.

GTA, KOTOR, BG and NWN, HOMM, FF. I'd buy anything from these franchises blindfolded

If you're really in computer games you
a. know what I'm talking about
b. are a nerd like me :)

Nope!

I recently stumbled across the amazing world of roms. Ive been going down memory lane. Lately Ive been rediscovering the ancient snes 'Ogre Battle' of all things. Is it me, or did they make better games back then? They probably concentrated alot more on the gameplay because they had virtually no fancy graphics to fall back on.
snes?

rock and roll racing my friend. very difficult to top :D
zelda 3 was great too, if a bit too brief.

my current favourites are Final Fantasy X and Warcraft III. haven't played warcraft in a while, neither, but am planning on buying WOW very soon :D

Maybe you're getting old my friend. ;)

Well, actually, I think you're partly right. Outside strategy games, I've never had as much fun on videogames than when we played on Snes with my brother. I was a fan of Mario Kart, Zelda and Mario. I still play to those games once in a while on the computer. Actually, I'm currently playing to an old game called "Transport Tycoon" from 1994... I love to do my little railroad network and I haven't found the same pleasure with more modern version of games alike.

As I don't enjoy new games, I've concluded I was getting old. That's why I guess you're in the same case as I.

Total war series
Monkey island series
Days of the tentacles
Sam and max
Indiana jones and the infernal machine
Wing commmander series
Privateer series
Romance of 3 kingdoms series
colonization
MOO series until the 3rd 1
Alpha Centauri
Ultima Series until the 10th
Everquest (coz playing with friends)
Battlefield 1942
Halflife + counterstrike
A-Train
Minesweeper
Might and magic 3,4,5,6,7,8

SquareSoft is one word, my friend. And you probably shouldn't be discussing piracy on this site. ;)

You just don't realize the epic scope of Myst. Once you've played through it and its four sequels, and read the three novels, you will understand what I mean.

I mean, heck, check out the trailer for Myst V on Uru Obsession.

Morrowind gets all the same complaints as Myst, BTW: too slow, too boring, nothing happens, etc. And we know that's not true of either game, if only you give them a chance. ;)

Not the mention all the other people taking about roms and what not.

That there is no God.

Yep, youre getting old kid!;) Youre 23 right? Wait till youre 39 like me:cry: It seems to me that the games were more fun back then, but maybe thats just subjective. Twenty years from now people will probably be saying todays games are better than whatever theyre playing then.

@bobgote: snes = the old 16 bit super nintendo. Never got into Zelda 3, that was the Nintendo 64 version right? For me the best was Zelda 2 for the snes.

Ah ok, then that was the one I liked. What was the N64 version called?

Risk and Risk II, still play once in a whille.
LOTR: Battle for Middle-Earth, really great RTS. Thinking about getting Empire Earth II, the previews look good.

Diablo II. Particularly the Druid character.

Outside of strategy games my favourite has to be Morrowind. I can't wait to see Oblivion.

Favourite strategy games are Starcraft, MTW , Stronghold, Madden and AC.

AC is my second favourite game next to Civ III.
