Z, with Stronghold as a runner up, would be my choice.
Z ist just godly, I haven't played anything coming close to it's combination of stupid humor and fast paced game play. And who doesn't want to be told by the game that he just sucks?

I'm not surprised that you are from Germany. Z seems to have failed to make much impact outside of it, for some reason. It's a shame that the sequel was so bad, and that the recent remake attempt appears to be dead in the water, after some promising development.

 :scan: :borg: :nuke: [pimp] :aargh:  :bump: :ar15: :faint: :trouble: :suicide:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

WHO VOTED FOR EMPIRE EARTH III?!

THEY NEED TO BE CLUBBED REALLY BADLY, AND EVEN KILLED!

Seriously though, Empire Earth I and World in Conflict are now, uhm, LOSING to EMPIRE EARTH III!!!!!:aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh: :aargh:

*snort* *giggle* :stupid: :hide: :rotfl: :spear:

OH, SO YOU PLAN ON USING EMPIRE EARTH 3'S WORLD DOMINATION MODE TO WRITE AARS?! I WON'T JOIN THEM BECAUSE OF THE GAME'S HISTORICAL INACCURACY!

I was just kidding. I will join any AARs you form out of them, as they could end up being pretty darn funny.

Starcraft with Company of Heroes in at a close second.

Why don't I see any love for World in Conflict? Gamespot rated that game the highest out of all these; even higher than Civ4!

We live in a world where halo 3 gets a ten out of ten, and every other game that comes outgets a 9 out of ten. I havnt trusted reviews since the reviewers started gatting paychecks, the only honest reviews youl get nowadays are the guys who kept it real, the ones in there moms basement, working 9 to 5 at best buy.

Go to Gamerankings.com to look at other reviews. I think Gamespot rated it higher than most critics.

I think a Relic game (Homeworld, DoW) Paradox (EU series) and a Command and Conquer game should on the list.

Why did you put it as one of the choices then?

It was absolutely atrocious......noone actually likes that game....even the guys who made it dont like that game.

Cannon Fodder. Despite having never played it in over a decade, I still bear the burden of remembering my devastation when veterans Jops and Jools were killed. No RTS since has ever made me care about my troops so much.

Honourable mentions to Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, Age of Empires II and the Close Combat series.

World in Conflict is no doubt the best game ever created, it is very accurate in weapons and realism of the period. This game easily overpowers every RTS game out there.

And there is no denying it.... no matter how much you might despise this game or love other games.

I hve this crazy urge to bow down to it now for some reason..........

Myth 2 was probably the best for it's time, AoE2 and WC2 were good too, Battlezone was innovative and fun, so was Majesty, which btw is getting a sequel from Paradox.
On the list above Medival: Total War get's my vote.

Battle for middle Earth has quickly become one of my favorite games. It actually adds a lot of realism; Ents catch on fire, anything form cavelry to a trolls club can send people flying.

My favorite RTS ever is Command & Conquer: Red Alert.

Command & Conquer would also take the prize as my favorite RTS series. How can you beat Kane? He's the best villain in history.
