[Feature] Additional Wonders

So I tried playing this branch for the first time today and all of the religions were founded extremely early, including Christianity by turn 30. I'm not sure whether this is a problem with me getting the git to work (it took a while and I had to manually resolve a bunch of conflicts when switching branches) but I'm pretty sure this isn't intended?

It's not, but I'm confused about what could possibly cause this.

New update:
- merged a pull request by merijn_v1: added Menlo Park art
- added Abbey Mills: requires Steam Power, free Sewer in all cities
- added Menlo Park: requires Electricity, +25% commerce with power
- changed Crystal Palace: requires Engine, +2 free engineers

Since we're on a roll, and if you're still looking for something to do: I liked the ideas for the Crystal Cathedral, Tokyo Skytree and Las Lajas Sanctuary in particular, and I'm only blocked from including them because there's no art.

New update: added the Nobel Prize wonder (requires Refining, extra GPP for every great person born in a pleased or friendly civilization)

Considering it's not a physical structure, wouldn't it be better to treat this as a Project?

Yes, that was my initial plan. However, this effect (and other similar effects that I thought would be appropriate for the Nobel Prize) requires a target city to get the benefit, and projects are not associated with the city that built them once finished. I considered having the project spawn a building, but that was overly complicated. I chose a model that resembles the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences.

New update:
- fixed wonder buttons in the city tooltip
- Hagia Sophia art has no minarets unless the wonder is controlled by a Middle Eastern civilisation

Haha it's not, I found out that SoI was doing that.

What I actually noticed is that its (civilopedia) model for the Hagia Sophia had no minarets so I planned to include it and use it as an alternative art until the Muslim conquest, but digging into the files more I found out that it was already implemented there, which I didn't know.

hahahahhaha, no way! This is the coolest thing i've seen a mod in Civ doing it. I always hated how Haghia Sophia tends to be represented with those 4 minarets, as if they were there since it's construction.

I think the only game where the Wonder was represented without the minarets was Age of Empires II, as a Byzantine Wonder.

By looking at my profile pic you can see why this made me smile hard. I'm a huge sucker for Greece and Byzantium, compared to people who are usually more of a sucker for Rome.

(Ok, i know that Byzantium IS Rome, but c'mon. You know what i meant.)

Updated the included wonders sheet with current build costs, construction speed modifiers and obsoletion techs.

I haven't taken the time to go over it, but I think all of them need work. Building costs are all over the place and not always appropriate for the era the wonder comes from (some wonders are intentionally more or less expensive due to the power of their effects). Also I marked down all wonders that lack obsoletion techs but don't have any.

Suggestions and general feedback welcome.

Finished the art of the Crystal Cathedral, Tokyo Skytree and Las Lajas Sanctuary. PR is up.

I figured out why my other models are darker then expected. I will upload a fix soon.

I also figured out that my nif files contains some data that I could delete. That cut down the size of the nif file about half. So I can reduce the size of my models a lot. This might also be the case for other models.

Oh, cool. I'm going to have a quick look at them before going to bed.

By the way, have you considered uploading your models separately on the download database? It always annoyed me when mods had custom art that wasn't released separately and was therefore hard to find.

I am going to upload the files on the database, but I wanted to finish the models I was working on first. (Now I still need to apply the mentioned updates, but that will not take very long)

Some idea (about Russian wonders, of course): what about replacement of Saint Sophia's Cathedral by Golden Gates (UNESCO heritage Vladimir ones, but Kievan, Novgorodian, Constantinople etc are meant too).

Nearly all Orthodox wonders are cathedrals/monasteries, and same about medieval European wonders at all, so something instead of quite generic cathedral (and more, second cathedral named after St.Sophia) will be good.

I think the exact quantitative effects of some of the wonders (e.g. El Escorial, Louvre) should be explained. For instance, I had to peep at the city screen, get the base culture costs of the wonders I control, and mentally calculate to get the amount of additional culture. (If I'm not mistaken, it's 50% of the base culture.)

As usual the reasoning is largely influenced by the fact that art for that particular Cathedral already was available.

Merged a pull request by merijn_v1:
- art for Las Lajas Sanctuary, Skytree, Crystal Cathedral
- optimised art for existing wonder art

Also added obsoletion techs for several wonders.

I created a new version of the Prambanan. PR?
