FfH2 0.23 Bug Thread

Oh, wait. It only happened with a single civ. (Keelyn) I must be playing one thats not ready for players yet, or something

Correction: I managed to get the game working with Ethne the White, and played for like 6 hours - when the game crashed. Now attempts to start up a new game with her engender the same problem as (trying the first time) to play with Keelyn.

I'm new to this mod (got into it from BtS scenario). I downloaded the full mod and the "c" patch from the first post of this thread but not the media pack (will do this in time).

As I'm new, I wanted to look through the civilopedia before starting, to be able to play a civ suitable with my playing style.

Problem, I couldn't open up civilopedia from the main menu. I can from the game itself, just not the main menu.

If your just looking for info you probably want to use the wiki instead. It is more in depth and generally better. Right now it is a version off, but the differences between .22 and .23 aren't that much and it is easier to read then the civilipedia.

Here's the link:http://civ4wiki.com/wiki/index.php/Fall_from_Heaven_II

edit: and for some reason the link isn't working, just Google it or something, its worth it.

i've played FFH2 on a huge map, and once the game had become developed the game exited citing a memory allocation error, this also began happening when i tried to save. so i tried again playing on only a large map after reading that the game takes too much virtual memory. the same thing happened on the large map. i have 2gigs of RAM so this shouldt be an issue. How can I fix this?

Ok, more info: By doing a complete FFH reinstall (in the proper order, of course) - I can play precisely /one/ game. Attempts to start a second game result in the aforementioned crash.

I don't know why I'm getting them now - I can see the popup error message now. Its: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."

Ive also had this problem when I play on the bigger maps.
My computer has 1.5 gigs of memory.

I also noticed a small bug after you move a unit off of a sentry tower; You reveal more of the map then you should, as if the unit had sentry on the new spot. Not 100% this is a bug, but it seems out of place.

The unit takes a running leap off the tower, what's the problem? :)

I also don't like how your ubervision initial settler can use the sentry tower. I think the sentry promotion should be part of his initial ability so that the tower doesn't give him an added boost.

yea i just became the mercurians and for some reason the game automatically ends my turn once all of my units have been moved/the little button turns red. this is starting to be a pain in the ass.

Thats easy to solve: save and reload.
Then you get your settings.
That because civ gives you the standard settings when you change your civilisation.

Newbie alert!!

Been playing Civ4 for a while now and just had a couple of sessions on BTS when I stumbled upon these forums and FFHII. Well, I have to say it's awesome, well done all involved, more fun than normal Civ 4!!

I had a problem last night though :( and was wondering if it's something which can be avoided, and/or fixed.

Playing as the Bannor civ, about 500 years in, currently being attacked by all evil civs, recruited a LOT of crusade style troops and adopted the crusade civic. I realised last night that to try to negotiate peace I would have to change civic and lose the troops, so be it as I was tired of fighting all the time.

Well, everytime I try to change the civic the game goes mental and crashes. It warns me I will lose all troops and clicking the ok button seems to only work after the 15th or so click. The sound still works but I cannot move the cursor and the keyboard stops working :( UPDATE:- This happens when I change any civic, whether it effects my crusading troops or not. Time to start again and see if it happens on the new game.

Running 0.23c with media pack, CIV4 1.61.

Cheers in advance

drag0n, welcome to the forum! :-) I can explain half of what is happening. When you change religion or civics and doing so will cause units to desert your cause, it seems the warning will pop up once for each deserting unit. In other words, the game cycles through your units, checking to see if they will desert, and pops up the warning message for each unit that will leave. That means you have to click "OK" on the warning message once for each unit that will desert, even if that is a rather large number. I would like to see that changed so you only have to click once regardless of how many units will desert, but right now that's how it stands.

I don't know why the lock-up is happening. Just in case it is related to the deserting units, you could try disbanding all of that unit type before switching civics. Just click on one of that unit type, hold down the ALT button and click the activate icon (the one that looks like an eye). That will activate all of those units under your command that still have movement points left. You can then cycle through them and disband them one by one. After you've disbanded all the ones that will leave you, then try changing civics. It might work, might not, but worth a try.

I'm not sure if this is FfH-specific, but it's only happened while playing FfH. My UI disappears randomly. I can't get it back. Alt-i...nothing works.

Thank you Tyrant for your advice, I will give it a go.

It may not make much difference trying to change civic and negotiate peace as the bloody vampires seem to have it in for me anyway!

Just a question about the logged files. My game freezes from time to time, and can happen from when I start playing up to several hours. I play v1.74 and latest FFH2 mod. After a hard reset here's an example of a entry into the audio.log file at the bottom. Not sure if it's the mod missing files or Civ4 itself.

Code:
[4226.640] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string AS3D_SPELL_WOLF of TagId 4
[4226.640] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string AS3D_SPELL_WOLF of TagId 4
[4227.187] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string ASSS_GRASS_SELECT_AMB of TagId 5

Now, if you could only get that Thane, Disciple, etc. to spread his religion 100% of the time, instead of fizzling out sometimes, it would be a great feature.

Why not just put the religion in a city instead of giving the unit???
