FfH2 0.32 Changelog

One caveat to the brute force method: Make sure they don't drop their starting equipment (if any Abandoning units HAVE starting equipment), but allow them to drop equipment collected by other means (probably be easiest to delete the equipment from their list of starting promotions while deleting the fact it was ever built, and allow the gear to drop on the ground where they were upon Abandon).

MC: Having the unit move to someone else who DOES meet the requirements would require that such a player exists, or temporarily storing all data for the Hero until anybody does meet the requirements again. It also potentially leads to issues with instant city capture if you happen to be at war with the new owners.

You could do a search for people allowed to keep the hero, and if none exist, THEN delete the fact the hero was ever created. And to solve the other issue you could move the hero to the nearest unoccupied tile in the new owner's cultural influence before you convert it to belong to them.

Well the relatively complex way to make them keep their promotions when they are abandoned is to keep a Matrix of all heroes in CvGame with their promotions as the 2nd array. Then just check this array when the hero is created and promote the hero accordingly.

So, what will the base stats of an Ira be? If they get +1 :strength: from each battle but are too weak to actually win against anything but workers, then they aren't worth much.

I still think that the gold cost of spreading CoE should be raised if there are no religious requirements, and I still the the new Shrine effects should be tied to state religion.

I'm thinking that Evil or Neutral AIs with no state religion shouldn't be blocked from spreading Esus.

Sorry that was a mistype, that was supposed to be Ira, not Irda.

You might want to consider calling them something else. I know "ira" is the Latin word for "anger," but when you capitalize it it looks like the name of someone's great-uncle -- not too threatening. ;)

That could work, but I still think I'd prefer that when a unit abandons one civ it triggers an event that makes it be converted to the ownership of some other civ with the proper prereqs, complete with promotions, levels, etc.

Why? I mean, it's a pointless change, given how rarely people abondon hero's as is, you'd at most just make it so they NEVER change religions away from existing hero's.

Any chance we can get the CoE religion icons to not display during diplomacy popups. It's supposed to be a secret when you're running it right?

Also, to make it more a realistic secret it would probably be necessary to make running no state religion a viable option under at least limited circumstances. That way you would be unsure if someone was running CoE or no religion. Tough to do and still maintain the strong religious conflict theme of FfH that we love.
Perhaps up the chance for conflict oriented events when non-state religions mix in a city.
Or make running no state religion have an effect similar but not as strong as Spiritual - have it reduce but maybe not eliminate the Anarchy time period. I've never understood how being Spiritual would make it easier to switch civics. Seems like a better name would have been Adaptive (but now that's taken).

It would be better if nations with CoE could fake run another religion.

Heard of Ghandi? The man of nonviolence resistance to produce change.

Edit: oops didnt mean to make it two posts.

I know that it doesn't necessarilly fit into ffh lore but there really needs to be a civic that grants ''free religion'' unless you have esus as your state religion. This would appear late game and would have to have strong synergies with the council of esus, because they'd preferably have to be used togeather. This would hide the fact that they are coe because another player would be able to tell whether they were free religion or coe. Of the top of my head I'd say the most fitting would be scholarship, or maybe a new one, ''tollerance''.

Effects

50% extra trade route gold in Esus civs. The ''merchants'' there are able to make more money on the black market by being prepared to trade with everyone.

Free Religion or Esus state religion

+15% hammers in all cities. There is a higher level of productivity in cities as there is less tension between various races and faiths.

+ 1 unhappy for AV or Order present in towns but +1 happy for RoK, OO, Fol, Emp (not Esus b/c that's something happening behind closed doors)

Probably some poweful ''Tolerant Priest'' unit to make up for the fact that the user of this civic could be giving up heroes, culture, religious UU's etc. These tolerant priests would get Level 1 and 2 of the main sphere's of every religion in the city they were built in. So with all the religions present they would get Entropy, Law, Light, Shadow, Water, Earth, Nature levels 1,2, pretty much buildable mages, but would be priest units, they are balanced because they would be un-upgradeable and probs high cost, also to make them really good you'd have to have all religions present in the city which is probably not even possible in most games, they'd also be getting -2 happiness in the building town for having Order and AV there. If the user of this civic was esus maybe they could start with the mask spell too.

This would provide a good civic that other civs could use but also hide Esus worshipping civs and give a little bonus to the COE to make it more on level with other religions. I mean, when a player suddenly switches to ''no religion'' in mid game we all know what they're really up to.

The civic would also be fitting RP-wise for civs like the kuriotates and Elohim.

Greywolf,

I'll respond to both...

I love the faking a relgion idea. Very cool.

As for Ghandi - my Indian history isn't very good but i don't think it was a quick process. A short violent uprising would likely have been faster. I'm not saying that's a good thing.

I didn't mean quick, but rather, a non violent change of ways don't hinder day to day business like a violent change do.

My schedule for tomorrow:
8:00 GMT wake up, check forum for 0.32 download, downloading if its been uploaded
8:30 go into university for three hour exam
13:00 come back to flat to meet visiting parents, check forum for 0.32 download, downloading if its been uploaded
14:00 visit local zoo with parents (mum wants to see baby gorilla)
16:00 come back to flat, say goodbye to parents, check forum for 0.32 download, yadda yadda yadda

16:35 shooting pains in my wrist lead me to realise I spent three hours writing an exam today. Also OWW! No 0.32 for me :(

Busy day.

Spiritual allows you to quickly shift civics around at a whim. If you look at the modern world, and the few national governments which could be called 'spiritual', then you would see that they can do a complete 180 on some of their civil policies without much unrest or grinding of the proverbial bureaucratic gears. I'm talking about theocracies here, where the majority of the population are ardent believers in their religion to some degree, and hence the 'spiritual' trait. The example I would cite would be Iran. After deposing the Shah in 1979, the Islamic state adopted an economic system very similar to central planning. As is normally the case, this did not work to well, and with the death of their first supreme leader, they immediately converted to a system of free market with little damage done or time lost. Furthermore, throughout its history as an Islamic state, Iran has consecutively adopted a number of different primary social programs that were conflicting in nature and espoused conflicting ideals of what an ideal citizen of the Islamic state should have and do. Essentially, Iran's fundamentalist nature and the intrinsically spiritual nature of the theocracy thereof allowed them to rapidly and diametrically change their 'civics' without 'revolutions'. So the 'spiritual' trait does have some real world backing.

When will we see new building graphics? At the moment there are several buildings and wonders using the barracks as a placeholder. Same applies to the default palace graphics.

Kael has stated for other versions that when he says he will release something on Friday he means that it may be released at any time on Friday, in any time zone. Under this definition, he could have already released it or could wait until 7 am on Saturday in our time zone.
