FfH2 Bug Thread

Has it been established yet why the AI Balseraphs are becoming failed states? Since patch m they repeatedly failed in my games by not building the military builings such as arenas, lodges, etc, so they instead create a massive stack of freaks, and this seems to slow their development massively (or they are failing in other ways too).

By repeatedly I mean I've seen them in this bad state about half a dozen times and never once seen them thrive under patch m. Only in one game did they get past 3 cities and they were still using freaks when they had the technology for all of the next tier of units..
 
To me it seems that in general most of the AI's build far too much military at the expense of economy and expansion in FfH2, particularly patch m. I guess this is just one of those things where the AI as a whole needs to be tweaked at some stage. :)
 
Out of curiosity, are you playing on a non-Ancient start? I've noticed that the Balseraphs in particular seem to fall into the pattern you describe when starting in later eras.

I'm not playing customized games, just random pangea maps on Emporer level.

through the last two installations (41 patch d and then patch m on top) I've had the problem that various unit graphics don't work correctly. As far as I can tell, the specified subfolders in the Art/Units/Civs directory aren't there. I've download the mod and patch m again, but with the same problem...is it possible, that the units with graphics added in patches between d and m only work if each patch between d and m is applied sequentially? If so, where can I get the old patches...?

Have you tried playing any games with the "AI No Building Requirement" option on? That would determine if it is an issue with the building production AI or if it is something deeper.

I've gone into world builder at times to check on their cities. In one game they had built their carnival, smokehouse, etc but no military buildings. I manually added an arena to the city and the freaks were all upgraded to swordsmen next turn. In another game there were no buildings at all in the capital at turn 150, although I didn't double check that.
 
there is code in CvGameUtils.py at AI_chooseProduction that basically forces Balseraph to build freaks if city doesn´t have freak show, It wouldn´t be so bad but unfortunately AI doesn´t use freaks to build freak shows so that leads to endless freak spaming.

Thanks for tracking down the issue! Seems like that should be easy enough to fix.
 
Hi, thank you to Kael and the rest of the team for making this great mod!

My game keeps crashing at the end of turn 143 (this is a save from turn 141). I thought maybe it had to with building the Barnaxus hero unit (turn 143 was the first turn Barnaxus existed) and that it was related to his special power on golems, but when I cancelled his build I would still crash at the same point in time.

I'm guessing that it's a random world event that is causing the crash? I don't have it set to reset the random seed, so I don't know how to fix it.

Thank you all for responding with my bug-ed game. It was Kwythellar that caused the bug, for some reason. I deleted it and I can finish the game smoothly.

For the sake of my curiousity, please bear with me in discussing that strange bug a little bit :lol:.

Ok, a few questions here:

Does the city have a large stack of units nearby? Look specifically to see if you have invisible or hidden nationality units there or nearby. Also, see if there are units of another nationality in the square. If there are, eliminate them and see what happens. Try deleting the centaurs to see how that works (unlikely).

There were few suspicious stack of units, including one HN spider. But not a single of them is the culprit. I deleted them all and still the game was crashed.

If you don't find anything, next go into the worldbuilder, and save the game as a worldbuilder save. Try to load the game as the Kuriotates, see if you can. If you can, the bug is related to to AI behavior; if you can't, there is a 'natural' problem with the game.

Now, this is strange. I was able to load the worldbuilder-save as the Kurio, but unable to see any panel. The screen just showed me the landscape, but no city-bar, unit-action or spells, etc! The last time I got this kind of error was related to some corrupted nifs. I wonder if that was the cause? Some graphical error from (one or many) buildings in Kwythellar?


Another thing came up last night : is there a bug related with unit created from combat spawn chance? I tried with Air Elemental (should created Lightning Elemental after combat with 100% chance), Werewolves (lesser chance) and my new units but no spawn occured.

My guess is that unfortunately your game/set-up is bleeped up. If you can't load the game porperly as the Kurio's, and their capital causes a crash, then there is just something wrong. Unfortunately, even if I saw your file and loaded your alterations, I likely couldn't do anything to fix it.

I really appreciate your kindness. As far as the game goes, it went OK after I delete Kwythellar. Not sure what the real cause, I hope not something of my doing :blush:

Hey guys this is the 2nd game in a row now I have hit a certain turn and it just crashes over and over. My first game was turn 74, and this one is 270. I have uploaded my save file for you guys to look at. The one thing I think could be the problem is I get a captain right at the end of my turn and it crashes every time it shows I have received him. I am just not sure how I am suppose to go into the world builder and delete him if the game will not let me get to the next turn. Any suggestions?

Automatic terraforming with vitalize does not work for me. Bloom, scorch, spring and sanctify all work. I gave an archmage nature 3 and put him on different terrain, tundra, ice, plains, desert, and pressed the "Automatic terraforming" button. I could not get him to cast vitalize even once.

I'm using a clean install of FFH2 with patch 'm', no other mods.

This has happened to me before. I just minimize back to the desktop using the windows key and maximize ffh again and the interface reappears for me.
