FfH2 Bug Thread

I was playing the amurites on huge map at marathon speed, version 0.41 patch g. I got the Clairone event and went for the free bard intending to use him to pop the borders. This i did, but i got 15  faces in my capital, this caused my city to starve to size 1. Ok i thought i will just wait until the unhappiness passes, i got a really good game going here. 50 turns later i still got 15  faces in my city and my game is totally wrecked. I did the only i could. Quit and started again.

Please fix this. the event was fine before.

thank you.

first post notes that it will be changed in the next patch...

An update: the wild mana merge is complete (mostly pulling all of Sephi's awesome ai improvements). It was a weekend full of crashes. But I got my first full load a few minutes ago. Thats a massive step and signals that the hardest part is over. Now I go on to tweaking the things I like or dont like and playtesting.

The more closely I look at the code the more impressed I am with Sephi's work. I think tis going to make FfH much more challenging.

:goodjob:

thats really good news, keep it coming

that's great news Kael. :)

while you're at it, there's a couple of tweaks that would make the game more enjoyable in a couple situations:

1) this is very important, remember to fix the OOS you get in patch G when hyborem captures a city, it makes the infernals kinda unusable in MP ;)

2) could Demagogues spawned on towns in crusade start with the best metal you have access to? it's a pita to have to move every single one of them to a city, and sometimes you just forget that :(

3) similarly, could Hyborem's and Basium's starting retinues start with iron weapons? sometimes you forget to wait till you build the capitol for them to get them :D

4) Basium should probably be forced to cast the spell that gives him control of the mercurian gate city, right now it can happen ( although very unlikely ) that he decides to move instead of casting it, and then he will not cast it ever again.

5) could the treants spawned by the Ljolsalfar worldspell start fortified? when you have lots of them, having to cycle through each one is very boring.

6) it's very annoying when playing the Bannor to have the Overcouncil force Republic and making it impossible to go into crusade. IMHO the solution is either to move crusade to another column ( like the one with military state or the one with agrarianism ) , OR change the resolution so that it forces Republic, OR change the resolution so that it gives a vicar or something ( and maybe change the radiant guard to a ratha ) .

yeah, those are not bugs, sorry :D

Hippus (leader Rohanna) doesn't have Exploration (or a number of other basic techs, turn 314). This usually happens to Tobryn as well. Sorry about the leader name spelling.

Edit: This is quite anoying since roadbuilding is the first basic step in civ, missing that and the civ is dead meat. I cant remember for the moment, but I think it happens to one of the elven leaders as well.

Normal Play; Large Map (text...); Noble

Yea, I've seen several games where the Sheaim don't have roads.

I'm not sure on the specifics on the AI upgrades from Wild Mana, but hopefully we'll see less of the issue of AI without basic techs.

I'm not sure this is worth recoding the game over. You can leave the Overcouncil and then adopt Crusade. It's similar to the situation of someone trying to achieve a ToM victory who finds that the Overcouncil has banned mana needed for the Tower of Necromancy.

well, except for the fact that the Bannor fit in the overcouncil very well and there's not much else special about them except crusade. imho it's very sad to force them to leave the overcouncil in order to crusade against evil, which is in the best interest of the overcouncil. leaving the council in order to build the last tower and win is one thing and I don't have a problem with that, but leaving the council to use your special civic seems just wrong to me.

python error and CTD. No save but I know what happened (patch g)

Elohim at war with the Sheaim and Illians - I had the Elohim world spell cast and needed to end my war with the Sheaim to protect Basium's little teet sucking babies from Hyborem. Asked Sheaim what their price for peace was and they gave me a little city. Thats when I got my Python error. I looked at the city and there was an Illian unit parked in the middle. Was able to play, but the Illian never moved, so I went to worldbuilder to delete him and when I tried deleting him the game CTDed.

Been playing the wildmana (for these reason) off and on for a few months now and I was wondering if you made any changes that would look and/or feel different than what sephi did?

It seems that as of patch G, the exploit where you can sacrifice summoned hosts of the eirjenwhatever on the pyre of the seraphic for free permanent fire elementals is still available.

Can't wait for the wild mana merge.
The AI is great, but I hope the WAR-AI is improved over the last version of wild mana, because it is way to buggy.
Always War games are completely impossible to enjoy at the moment.

Fix provided by Ahwaric already. I'm not sure if it got buried by other posts or something else.

Two things this time.

First I have already posted in the bug thread but it might got lost in all the posts that appear there.
There is a bug in CasterNoDuration tag that breaks it.
In CvInfos.cpp the following:
Code:
pXML->GetChildXmlValByName(&m_bCasterNoDuration, "bCaster[COLOR="Red"]n[/COLOR]oDuration");
needs to be changed to :
Code:
pXML->GetChildXmlValByName(&m_bCasterNoDuration, "bCaster[COLOR="Red"]N[/COLOR]oDuration");
for the tag to work...

I checked that Cyther and it is already fixed. Sephi must have fixed it in Wild Mana and it was picked up in the merge.

Calabim's Governor Manors give the correct amount of hammers, but the city screen does not tell you where those additional hammers come from ;)

edit: also, Feed does not seem to let a Vampire attack again in the same turn.
