FFH2: Paradise Regained

Khazad are hardcoded to beeline to Runes and Ljosalfar to Fellowship.

We'll want to get priesthood quickly, but might consider drama after that for the great bard if it's still open. Other goals include getting bronze working and the techs that enable our heroes as we are next to Sheaim + Aggressive Khazad leader, and our scenario victory condition will force us into conflict with Khazad/Bannor at some point anyway.

Roster:

Uberfish
Stuge (saved by the patch)
Darrell (up)
Morgan (on deck)
Oz
Oats

Okay, played 24 until Education came in. I tentatively selected Calendar next, since we have Cotton and it leads to Festivals, but if we want to go down the Priesthood line I'm fine with that. All cities now have an Elder Council and have hired a Sage. Bruti was founded at the selected location. Very nice timing, BTW, I could get the Copper mined as the city was founded for an extra boost out the gate. Bruti now has two mines (one on the Copper), farmed Corn and captured Elephants, she's ramped up nicely. Here is an overview of our lands:

The Settler is to seal off the east. I have two Workers roading that way, the AIs are founding quickly it seems. I like uberfish's proposed spot, here is an alternative with more cities:

The resources were off for some reason . There is a Fish on the eastern city. South gets a Clam. North gets a cow. Middle gets bumpkus, but with Ancient Forests that won't matter. Speaking of more cities, we probably want to be in City States pretty soon. In other news, Orthus was killed on turn 83 in Sabathiel's lands. On turn 94 the Pact of Nilhorn was BIAFAL. We have a Skeleton problem in our west:

They are all gone and we now have a Hunter over there. There must be a barrow somwhere in the fog though, might be a good idea to build up a small stack to clean it out, not to mention some more scouting.

I have it and will play tonight. I am a little concerned that we haven't taken a more direct Path to FoL. I hope we don't get it stolen away...

Anticipate my report tomorrow.

Forget about calendar for now. The surest thing is to research WoF now. After that we can formulate the follow-up strategy.

Yeah, Education was a detour but seemed popular. Really we only need Mysticism and Way of the Forests, so if we want to wait on Calendar and Festivals it would be okay with me. That is one of the reasons I stopped a turn early :).

Darrell

We should definitely go Calendars>Festivals once we have FoL. We will need a Carnival to start growing a Great Bard (and Markets don't hurt a burgeoning economy.)

104> I look at eveything I have been handed. I switch our research by popular demand to Way of the Forests. I maximize science in all of our cities and commit to playing until we found the Fellowship of Leaves (about 25 turns.) We have a large army which is already draining our coffers at a fair clip. So besides an extra hunter, I decide to focus on infrastructure for a while.

109> Our healed and promoted hunter finds the Barrow and dispatches it in short order. Our skeleton problem is resolved for the moment.

111> A barbarian city, Alhepter, spawns on our western border. The position is not terribly bad for us...so I start massing our might that direction and wait for the city to grow a little. Tebryn appears to have a similar idea, but doesn't send nearly the force we do.

113> The Khazad demand that we cancel our Open Borders agreement with the Bannor. I have to refuse.

115> We found Yonna in the preordained desert spot. It is going to grow slowly for a time...I queue an Obelisk, build a cottage on a plains tile, and let it do its thing. Don't forget to convert this tile to plains later to remove the defense penalty...

116> Yonna wants to join the Khazad. I scoff.

122> With the founding of our new city and our continued military action, our economy is plunging drastically, so I am forced to revolt to City States and adopt Apprenticeship as well while we are at it. The changes are surprisingly effective.

125> Tebryn weakens Alhepters defenses considerably and we sweep in behind him and claim the spoils for ourselves. A willful student disrupts a Sheaim Mage Guild.

128> Catacomb Liberalis is built somewhere else.

129> the Fellowship is founded in Evermore, and I revolt to FoL.

130> Our free disciple is en route to Yonna, the burst of culture religion would give it, will make it a very productive city much quicker, unlocking the nearby Copper and Cows. The other option is to use it to spread Leaves to the Bannor...Both ideas have merit and should be discussed.

A Great Sage will complete in Hyll next turn and should be sent to Evermore. We should also plan somewhere down the road to relocate our capitol there as well. Remember to turn off the sage specialist in Hyll once its done. It should be a mere production city from here on out.

Building roads to connect our trade network to the Bannor, Khazad and Sheaim would help our trade immensely and we are very close to all three. The Bannor are pleased with us.

Evermore and Bruti both have a large stockpile of GP points.

Our proposed tech path is Calendar>Festivals. We have so many good things to hook up with plantations and the markets will help our economy so much. Getting a Carnival or two built soon will let us start focusing on getting a Great Bard for our shrine. (Temples of Leaves will help us with this as well.)

Afterward, we may want to do a quick segue for Bronzeworking before going Philosophy>Priesthood...the added boost to our military strength will help detract would be conquerors...

Anyway, best of luck.

OK got it. Will either play tonight or it will take the full 48 hours.

I'd prefer to use the free disciple on an internal spread rather than to Sabathiel. Although we should hook up our road network to him to try and get a free spread.

I assume we want an academy with our Great Sage?

Will go Calendar --> Festivals as research path.

An alternative to Bronze Working after this is to head for Archery and build Gilden Silveric.

Bronze working and archery are both good choices for defense, but archers would be more in character and ours get extra oomph with dextrous.

Research is left on Calendar.

Evermore is currently being farmed and as we are looking at our academy here I start cottages (leave the farms for now though). Academy is built here and sage employed.

Fellowship spread to Yonna. Note the Bannor settler who I can't stop:mad:

No idea what effect this event has.

A spider turns up later to answer that question. It is despatched by a hunter.

A hunter is cut off by Sheaim expansion.

The Bannor settler likes our back yard. That really sucks as that is our mana. Thessa is most displeased and already has her eyes on getting this back, she is Arcane after all. ;)

I leave at the advent of Festivals. Archery is selected. The Great Bard is still availbale for Drama if we wish. The Sheaim are making me nervous and 8 turns for Archery seem well spent.

I have started another settler. A site to grab both the crabs near the Sheaim would be good to stop them getting it. Also the site to grab the cows north of the Bannor incursion would also be good.

A sage and priest are employed at Evermore. GP due in 30-odd turns.

Looks good. Remember, that any cottages you build near "Awakening" will eventually have to be razed when we Bloom forests there, however. I'm not saying not to do it, but to just keep it in mind.

Yeah getting some military tech would be a wise move, I think. If we get a great priest that might help us get Priesthood maybe. Our research order is really a very close call right now so it's OK for the active player of the turns to make the tech decisions.

Reverend Oats is up.

Summary of important events:
Sabathiel converts to Runes
Spotted a Sheim Mobius Witch- he has planar gates
Founded Dendron at the crabs site
Archery came in, went towards Ani Husb because we have some livestock; due in 1 at the end of my turnset
Get an event -1 relations with Sab, another +1 beakers at elder council
Began building Gilden

I'm sorry the report was terse, but not much happen. No one has "enough on their hands," BTW.
