Final Fantasy Mod Progress Thread, Part III

Okay, I've decided to do two versions of the Cetra Archon: The white one for regular game, and the pink one (with little or no civ color) as the Aeris Gainsborough king unit.

Also, I'm thinking or re-naming them to Magus Towers, and the units to Cetra Magi (which kinda fits with the whole holy thing that Aeris had going)

Also, here's the current lineup for the Archon Towers... Tell me what you think (If you don't like my mideast selection, I could replace it with that one indian tower temple thingy).
 
Yes, but on the counter-point: Most Mid-Eastern Orthodox churches (and Shiite Muslim Mosques) ALSO use onion domes, and St. Basil's would have fit quite well in the FF X city of Luca (although it would have been a bit on the dull side, color-wise).

ALTHOUGH, I could possibly make St. Basil's the Mediterranean tower and the Torre del Oro the mid-eastern one... Or just use that Orangey-brown Indian one for the mid-eastern version
 
OK guys, just a quick update: I'm still working on the animations for the Cetra Magus (I'm taking screen shots of Aeris in-battle in FF VII PC so I can get her stance right), and I happened to stumble accross a link to this in another forum:

If I can get Monty Oum's permission, I'll use parts of this in the intro AMV I'm also working on (well, mainly gathering footage for, right now).
 
Yeah, I'm also going to see if he'll let me have access to some of his model stash (in return for whatever help I can provide for him)...
 
Yeah, Angel-Wing Rinoa armed with both her Valkyrie disc-blade AND Squall's gunblade was a bit overkill... (but cool as hell!!).

BTW, I'm also planning on making some original footage, using some of my unit models, for the intro vid as well (you'll finally get to see what I'm capable of when I'm not confined to a small box, 256 colors, and a limited camera angle.

Best part is that by this weekend, I'll have upgraded Bryce 5.0 to Bryce 6.1, so I can import my poser files, animations and all, DIRECTLY into Bryce (DAZ taking over distribution and development was probably the best thing that ever happened to Bryce).

Unfortunately, I have a 3-page rough draft of a proposal narrative to type up before English class tomorrow night, so I won't be getting anything done on the mod until Friday.....

maybe you heard about the fact that I had to do too much stuff for school and that I had no time for unitmaking last month, and when I found some time I made the zora unit, completely forgetting about the blitzball player >_<

I'm sorry, I'm starting it right now, if it isn't too late?

EDIT: I have made the model itself, I am about to start animating it. want a preview or want to wait untill it is completed? I normally don't do previews but... oh well...
 
Don't worry... I've been busy with school work lately myself... I still have about half a dozen regular units to add to the mod, on top of all the summoned creatures and small wonders... Still have to add the Archon towers and move the Mage towers to the Earth Magic tech, so that only Neutral civs can build them...
 
Well, I've managed to finally get some actual work done on the mod, now that my unit-making has pretty much wound down (still want to do the new version of the Elvaan settler before the mod goes beta, but we'll see).

Here's what's been accomplished thus far:

Added the Archon and the Blitzball player.. Now I have an "explorer" type unit for the Hunting Falcon to upgrade to. I also added the Archon Towers (see above).

Almost all of the normal/UUs added:

...which leaves me with only three units left to add, then I'll add the mercenary units and their associated SWs (well actually 1 will be replacing the UN, since I'm disabling the cheap-ass diplo victory, and 1 will be replacing the Pentagon, since all these SWs also function as the Pentagon), followed by the Summoned creature SWs and units.

I'm also going to try and make a Grand Vizier Razfahd LH, and do some more re-arranging of the modern-era tech tree. Once all those things are done, the mod will be released. :D
 
Nice to hear. So there's a decent chance this could be out at the end of the month? :mischief:

My work on providing the civ info for the civilopedia has temporarily come to a halt, since I have couple of research papers and final exams due in the next week and a half. On top of that, I've pretty much been spending my free time playing SSB: Brawl. I'm outta school on the 15th so I'll go back to working on the pedia then.
 
Hopefully it will be out by the end of the month, especially considering that after tonight, I'll be done with school until the fall (although I may take some non-credit courses at the local Carrer & Tech Center in Machining and Small Engine Repair).

It would be REALLY great if someone could replace the standard Civ cursor with the FF hand thingy.... I'll see about getting sounds for the "Poit" when rolling over buttons and replace the paper rattling sound with the "Pwrrring" sound when you click on a button.
