could you activate python logging in your civ4 config file? that'd help seeing if there are specific error messages appearing ( in particular when clicking the option menu, which is something i haven't seen yet)
 
OK! I did that, I think, and restarted from the launcher. Right as the loading splash comes up, these errors began in a window titled "Python Exception"

@ceomrman Are you sure that your installation not corrupted? and that files are in "Ashes of Erebus" folder ?
 
Besides downloading the files three separate times, I don't know how else to rule out corrupt files. I get the same problems every time with two different beta downloads and one download of the last static release. So corruption seems extremely unlikely.
As for where the files are located, here's a shot of the folder structure. Is that incorrect? I had to copy them from a temp folder to the program files folder, so maybe I missed something somehow?

i'm not sure, but i think the file structure may be a problem. try Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meiers Civilixation 4\ etc.i don't think it expects the 2k Games or the Complete parts. worth a try?
 
In my current game I get a CTD whenever 1 lizardman (that has been mutated) wins a battle with an animal. The game is not the latest beta, it is some months or even more old. Any point in posting the save?
 
Not sure if this was intentional or not, but the Illians' Worldspell also freezes population growth. Either way, it's not mentioned as an effect in the description. It does make lore sense, but perhaps was not originally done that way because it would be too strong?

ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING: Various effects, including a Specter's aura and the tsunami ability, result in extended sequences of flashing lights instead of the rendered graphics. Aside from not working as intended, this could be actually dangerous for people who suffer from epileptic seizures and should be a high-priority bug fix. I don't, and it was unpleasant enough for me!

Question about Bannor : in my "old" memory, they were supposed to have a "chain of command", where you took specific promotions "caporal / sergeant/ capitain..." and that allowed your laymen bannor units to get minions out of their other laymen bannor.

however, in my current game I got one unit to take both caporal and sergeant and... nothing.. even if I got "caporal" on another one.
so I can take the promotions... but it is not possible to get minions.

as a side note, the RifE launcher seems to find a "conflict between modules " issue to BannorChainofCommand (and blackDuke and RifE more events). any tip to help me resolve this ?

I need some advice with the mekaras, wasn ´t able to find a guide.
Just started up with them and after a few turns I got unhappy citizens because of fear about my own units, also other civs were angry about some of my units too. Couldn ´t find out which units make citizens unhappy, it ´s just weird, I had only base starter units like recruts, some scouts, workers and slaves. I got rid of all of them and citizen still were unhappy and other civs too. Is it a handycap mekara start from scratch? If so this civic is kinda useless, even if it ´s an interesting one to play.

Hello, been reading this forum long time but now i have to ask cause this mod is awesome but there is so much to learn and its hard to find guides that are update to AoE. Playing latest stable version 14.11
I'm looking for tables for spells and promotions but all i have found are to FFH Basic. I would like print them so could easily look those while gaming without scrolling civilopedia all the time. I did do spells on hard way (testing WB) but them i found those .py files that contains same info.
So question is: Is there updated tables on readable form somewhere for promotions or can i dig those from some file? When i get these done i'll post them here so you can use them too if needed.

Bradeline's Well : all summons have the "fear" promotion. OR all mounted and arcane units have "immunity to fear"

Clff of Kelle : units get better results in lairs/villages

Dragon Bones : +5% vs beasts, +5%vs dragons to disciples and recon units

Foxford :

Guardian of Pristin Pass : +10% str in cultural borders OR allows building gargoyles with marble

Maelstrom : +1mvt to ships

Not really, but if you have the logs, that could be helpful to check if it has already been fixed

Good point, i'll see how i can change this. if you have suggestions about better effects for some of them, i'll take them.

I'll do some testing on the most recent version this week , but last time i tried it was working as intended, so nt sure what happened here. ( it might have something to do with your conflict issue. try just deleting the modules and updating svn again to revert any corruption that may have happen)

I think slaves were supposed to cause some happiness issue, but it should disappear when they're dead. I'll look into it it's probably a bug.

Well, you can find the info in the Promotions xml file but it may not be particularly easy to read. Thus if you want to produce something more readable, i'm happy to help ^^.

I went to play another civ : hamstalfar... and in fact the problem is worse...and should be limited to my game:
even with hamstalfar I can't get minions under a Commander.
further some "actions" activated by "spells" (like "get under obedience of a commander") don't work : example : healing salve is always grayed-out... or "repair" : Bambur is not proposed to heal the ballists, even if they are wounded.

I think I should remove all... and re-install.
or would it be enough to just "start the svn update" ?

hmm it looks like a bunch of python effects are disabled. Try a play now game in case it's a weird hidden option again. if that doesn't work, delete the python folder and update (or the whole assets one)
 
.... thanks. In fact removing the python wasn't sufficient : it "worked", but I lost all UI.
I thus deleted everything but the fpk (and the other file @700+Mo) and updated the svn. it now works!

Are emergent traits that don't have descriptions for levels 2 and 3 not complete yet?

Additionally, some of the traits that are fully listed don't say how to level up, though others do. Are these fully functional nonetheless, or can they not level up yet?
