Final Fixes Reborn

Okay. I'm back up and running. I lost everything I was working on, but a fresh start is always nice.

SaibotLieh, if I send you a link with my nif and KF files, can you take a look at them, to see if they'll work in-game and if so, give me a detailed list of changes in NifSkope, so I won't have to hound you to do my grunt work? 7zip archive okay?
Sure, I will see what I can do. As long as the archive can be opened with WinRAR it should be alright.

Pssst sometimes 7zip archives would extract correctly with WinRAR, sometimes not. The 7zip itself always extracts the .7z perfectly, it is a small program btw.

As for the resources, as I always play with Alt-R showing all resources as icons, I always see the Obsidian sporting the Oil icon that actually kicks me out of the ambience a little. Though I remember Caveman2Cosmos had a lovely proper icon for the Obsidian... ;)

Could you please consider raising a little the frequency of animals, barbs, lairs and all other thingies spawning, as well as the number of the events?

what i may do is increase the frequencies of appearance of animals and barbarians for the associated options, but i feel the default values are already good. As for events, i will not increase frequencies until i can get more events in there. If anyone wants to help, we have a list of potentially interesting events to code in a doc somewhere.

Hello,

Thanks for all of your hard work on this mod! It's great that games like these can still receive so much attention.

This might just be my ignorance at work here, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the Profane (Ashen Veil High Priest) from casting its "Hellfire" spell, which states it will "place a hellfire on the tile." The icon is visible no matter what location the Profane is in, but the spell is always uncastable.

What are the requirements to allow the spell to be cast and could they be added to the civilopedia? (I'm using the SVN 291, if that helps)

so i looked into that and it appears it's an infernal-only spell, i'm wondering if it was intended that way or if it's a mistake someone made. Since there's already another tier 3 spell for the Profane ( Summon Balor), i'm tempted to say it's intended. Anyway, i'll make the needed adaptations next time i commit a change.

IIRC it was intended.
Profane having summon Balor is strong enough.

No worries, I wasn't trying to imply that Profanes should be able to cast the spell, it's just somewhat confusing that any civilization with a profane has the spell available, but always uncastable -- it just made me think that there was some generic requirement needed, since the Civilopedia did not mention it being Infernal only.

Hi again,

I've been having some odd issues with the mod. In some fit of madness, I decided that the best way to remove any traces of 14.11 AoE (i.e. the SVN Hall of Fame included my 14.11 games) would be to uninstall all of Civilization 4 and reinstalling it, patching up to 3.19 before installing the SVN's latest version (I suspected it was causing all the save-crashing, UI-lacking problems others had experienced.)

The weird quirk I've been experiencing is that now, whenever I try to load up any of my saves (or autosaves), it states "This save uses the mod: "Beyond the Sword/Ashes of Erebus/" and requires me to reload the game, despite me already being in the Ashes of Erebus module.

For my manual save, the game will crash while loading, and if it doesn't do so, it will crash while resolving the AI's moves after ending the turn. I'll upload that one in particular as it's been very consistent for me. The prior autosaves tend to break down around the same turn.

I did have a log enabled, and I checked the text file called "PythonErr" which I could have sworn said numerous times "Unidentifiable C++ error" but now it appears to be blank. I'm not really sure what happened.

Just downloaded this mod after reminiscing old memories of ffh2, have svn and revision 291, fresh install, steam beta to original release. Game was crashing upon loading in to world, troubleshooted a bit, got it to load. Now first turn loaded in everything is fine but once I build my first city c2d. Mod looks awesome I'm gonna keep troubleshooting, but man... I just want to play this so bad. Any thoughts or tips? Read through pages 85 to this one looking for answers, found some tried them, still a no go.

try a play now first, you might have some hidden options causing issues, if that's still a problem, try deleting the cache C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/My Games/BTS/ , if that's still an issue, delete the XML, python folders and CvGameCore.dll file before doing an svn update, if it still doesn't work, send me your save file.

Hi again,

the reloading quirk does it happen with all your saves or only the ones that were older than your reinstall ? (the second case would be understandable). As for the save you uploaded, i've been able to play a dozen turns with it without any issue.

Well... It's working now. I'm pretty confused on why it is now, I've done everything except that last part. I'm not trying to be too optimistic, but I appreciate it so much. Is it just a possible corrupted install through SVN? Anyways works for time being.

I did notice that when I load in sometimes there is no UI and the map is just straight plains. Hasn't happened yet but I had no idea what to think.

Other than that thank you so much, especially keeping such a fantastic mod alive, thought it was dead for years and never found a replacement for it.

No issues? Curses, I can't even get past the "initialization" start of the loading before it CTDs. Did it ask you to reload the mod? I can't get it to stop doing that, even after re-installing the mod.

I'm using Windows 10, if that helps at all.

Maybe I'm installing the mod improperly -- when I try to download through TortoiseSVN, it says "Access is Denied." So I right click on the Ashes of Erebus folder, click on "properties" and go to the Security tab, where I give the User permission for Full Control. Then when I try to checkout, it downloads without any visible errors.

The only thing that bugs me is that the TortoiseSVN says it's downloaded around 1 gigabyte, but the folder then says it has about 3.03 gigabytes in it.

I'm somewhat shocked that the save worked totally fine for you (it loaded on the first try?) -- If only I could navigate these logs properly, I can't see anything useful in them.

it did ask me to reload the mod, but it worked fine on the first try after that ( and on the second too). It may have something to do with a corrupted file somewhere. Try that : ry deleting the cache C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/My Games/BTS/ , if that's still an issue, delete the XML, python folders and CvGameCore.dll file before doing an svn update

and yeah you'd better put the whole civ folder at full user control to be sure

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'm on Windows 10, but I did start changing the game settings so it automatically starts in administrator mode. I also made it so that the "2K games" folder now has full user control. Then I deleted the python, xml and gamecore files and reupdated. I still can't get that old save to load without crashing almost immediately, but I've tested out some new saves and they load without asking to restart. I'll let you guys know if I run into another unloadable game though.

I got a bug with Triforce of courage items. Its main ability is to let the holder act as a commander up to 2 units. But any unit that hold this Triforce once will retain this commander ability for the rest of the game, no matter they still have it or not.

i tested the shard of courage today and i see no such issue appear. can you replicate it ?

also, the Jotnar module that is inside the inactive modules folder works ok for me, no apparent crash

Edit : Also, i've finally gotten to do something that was requested a while ago, let's see if people can guess what it is from the screen ^^
