Finally sick of this: Minimal-state Jesus

Somewhat relevent, and from Civ4:
Dom Helder Camara said:
When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a communist.

You can ask why and come to many, many different conclusions;)

The reality is this, if you want true egalitarianism, almost all Americans are rich and should have their wealth redistributed to other nations. Why do most liberals never take this step?

That some people will be better off than others is a reality of life. That this requires theft in the eyes of some shows a lack of morality.

Right, but what you're missing is that He said "you" in the second person plural. He provided direction to the whole of His flock with the understanding that we would work together to achieve His ends.

Government is simply the most expansive form, to date, of social interaction. Consequently, it is useful for the Christian to utilize as a means to execute the goals Christ set forth for us. Utilization of governmental resources enables better care given to others.

Which involves theft.

I'm done with this thread. I have never seen any more laughably stupid arguments for "Jesus is a leftie" in my life. The reality is, none of you guys are demonstrating worship for Christ in this thread, but worship of the state.

Not as laughably stupid as tax = theft. You have yet to successfully point out a non-consensual tax.

Again, what about my argument? Not that "Jesus is a leftie", but that his teachings are not consistent with libertarianism nor its supporters?

jesus is a paradox - a would-be king executed for attacking the authoritarianism of his day

his teachings are consistent with libertarianism, he leaves it up to us to decide what to do, not the state.

That said, I find it silly when liberal pundits say that since Jesus hung out with sinners, said to pay taxes, and healed sick people that he supported high taxes UHC and welfare or whatever absurd concoctions that liberals will come up with. Jesus didn't say "Government do this" he said "You do this.".

and Behold... "government of the people, for the people, by the people", its all gods plan...

But you know the point of a laissez-faire system (which libertarianism is, indeed) is to preach for a utilitarian working system. The economical system seeks to maximize profit and your wealth is obligated to drive the system around. This whole helping the poor thing - it's not a part of the moral obligations of laissez-faire.

Otherwise, why would laissez-faire supporters not mock the impoverished by being lazy welfare queens reliant on handouts?

A utilitarian working system is not the point of a laissez-faire system or libertarianism. It is merely a common argument in its favor. The more hard core libertarians are much less likely to argue from utilitarianism and more likely to assert that violations of the non-aggression principle are fundamentally immoral.

dont have to be a libertarian to mock liberals

But without a utilitarian working principle, the system wouldn't work.

Thanks for conceding that libertarians like dommy are worthless bandwagoning ideologues and have nothing of practical value to say.

not many rich folk or libertarians around here, some people just got it in their head they deserve the $$$ they work for more than liberals
You bargain for what you get paid knowing the tax system is already in place. If you think you deserve more, post-tax, bargain for it ya lazy bum.
