but f course Finland has a close relationship with Sweden, throughout the history. But no relation of any importance with Norway or Denmark.
Iceland had so with Norway, and they have nothing to do with Sweden at all.
But Norway, Denmark and Sweden had a lot of influences on each other. Maybe that's what makes Scandinavia Scandinavia.
It actually depends on how you define Scandinavia. If we go with linguistics or geographics then Finland is not in Scandinavia. If instead we define Scandinavia culturally or politically then we're in. Personally I think that it doesn't matter and to stay clear off such debates we should just speak of Nordic countries and leave Scandinavia to geography only.
there is Scandinavian culture and there is Urgic culture too so there is no need to be mad and argue whether or not they are a part of Scando is pisses me off that people try to argue that they are Scando becuase they think it makes them look cooler

The Finns make too many minimalist, crafty and well-designed pieces of furniture to be considered anything but Scandinavian.

So true!Geographically, Finland is not part of Scandinavia. Culturally, they are sort of part of Scandinavia. They are certainly part of the Nordic countries, which is another definition.
Our dear finnish friends are culturally diverse in their obsessive sauna-bathing, tango-dancing, rally-driving, pesapällo-playing and eating of strange dishes at Christmas. There are many similarities though which have arisen through the years.
There are on the other hand many, many people with Finnish heritage in Sweden, especially in industrial towns. I count 4 out of 13 people in my office.
In the end, it doesn't really matter, does it? We like the Finns, except during hockey and bandy championships.
I think (we) finnish are not that good in hockey. I think finnish hockey is like british football: both countries think they are best in the world, but they don't ever win anything. Both have one world championship, and everyone think back those great old days...

This is all silly, anyway. If it adds to the game to make a "Scandinavian" Civ and include Finland (which I think it would), then everybody should be happy.
Here're some things to think about:

What is your source for that, i'm really interested since i have not seen that? I know that my ancestors roots go to Karelia (all my grandparents are from there) to area that belongs to Russia nowadays. Still i can easily (most of the time) to say if someone is either russian or finnish just by looking at them. I think that russian/slavic features are more easily recognized (thin face, nose - Putin is a good example but maybe a overgeneralization too).
My sister has done extensive genealogy research about our family, but i don't have that study here to look at.. and it is of course only about one family.
Also, our western coast is/has had much more swedish/scandinavian influence/genes than our eastern border area has had russian influence/marriages/genes (imho). Nowadays marriages with finnish men and russian women are getting more common there, so it might not be that easy in the future.

Please no Scandinavian Civ, i would like to have Sweden in, and then of course have some Finnish cities on the list. Helsingfors and Åbo for example.

the name scandinavia comes from the mountains who's name is the scanderna (on swedish) and all contries that the mountain goes trough is scandinavia and that is mostly norway and sweden, but a little of that mountain is in northern finland also, so

As I recall from my fine American education, Fin-land is named because it is such a "Fine Land". The "Scan" in "Scandinavia" comes from the same root where we get the English word "skank", and "Scandinavia" literally means "Land of the Skankies".
So, obviously Finland cannot be part of Scandinavia.
