Firaxis Livestream - Wednesday Aug 3 at 1pm PT (4pm ET/10pm CET)

I don't know, his most famous role was probably Boromir, who might not be a scholar like Faramir but was still literate. ;) I would have liked to have seen Avery Brooks or Patrick Stewart, which (aside from both having terrific voices and being terrific actors) would have been sort of a nod to Leonard Nimoy as Trek alumni, but Sean Bean has a great voice so I'm pretty pleased with him.

Know this won't be a popular choice because he wasn't as famous, but I liked the guy from CivV.

He was good, but I think Firaxis are correct to freshen things up with a different person.

Maybe it's just that speaking as a fellow British person to me Sean Bean is perhaps a little too "familiar" and kind of has the reputation of not having the most "Intellectual" of lifestyles, to be reading out pithy snippets of Wisdom every 5 minutes when I'm playing the game. :D

But I guess I'll get used to it...

Ah, yes, old "a phonetic reading would have been more dynamic than this guy." :p I hate to sound like Marianne Dashwood, but there was absolutely no feeling in his reading. :(

Actually, my chief complaint is a surprising number of quotes seen so far haven't had the gravitas I would like. For example, as much as I respect G.K. Chesterton, the quote about cheese is a really strange one for "Drama and Poetry." Sprinkling in a few of these is appropriate, but I'd prefer the majority have a more serious tone...

All the techs have multiple quotes that could be read. This is evident in a shot of the Civilopedia, & so far I've seen two different quotes for the Wheel tech. One by Lorne Michaels and one by some guy whose name I forget.

Ooooh, I like that. That will definitely add some variety.

If true, that is excellent. Perhaps in future Civs they could have one read by a female narrator and one by a male. :)

It is the word of God .

THE ITZA SHALL COME!

If this was already shown, forgive me, but I can't find it anywhere;

Toward the end of the stream they say that they had a video to show people if they stuck around to the end - and then they didn't show a video. Did I miss something?

That's far and away the best Civ quote ever! The music, the reading, everything was great.

Yea, they showed it when the stream was supposed to end. Then Ed said "Can we have extra time like football?" At that point they streamed for another 20-30 minutes.

It was the Maracanã being built. They showed it after streaming for 1 hour, but continued playing for a while after it.
