So, my old thread, that obviously still serves a purpose, got closed, since the rules state (well, actually no they don't, but who cares?) that old topics can't be bumped.

Well, the old thread is certainly still of interest to all Civ V freaks out there. What true CivFanatic would say no to exciting news about the latest installment?

For those of you who missed the old thread:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=391085

Anyway, here are the updates:

uat2d presented some exciting information about the Archer unit:

Archer - 3 :strength: 1 :move:
Cost: 25 :hammers: or 0.49$ each

Sadan01 reports that Firaxis soon will announce Civilization Renegade:

Spoiler :

Civilization: Renegade

As a throwback to 2002, Firaxis want you to play the leader of a civilization in a full-3D world as you run around and shout orders at your minions.

Much like in Civilization V, Civilization: Renegade has been extensively play-tested so we can give you the best experience of any Civilization game to date. For instance, the game will assist you in moving around the world by using standard shortcut keys such as I-J-K-L instead of WASD or Up-Left-Down-Right. We believe this will give you an unparalleled experience. Using the 'N' key, you'll also be able to build Mines anywhere you like.

There will be many types of weapons in the game that you'll be able to use to destroy enemy Wonders of the World. The Giant Death Robots will return however now you only have to research "OMG, this tech-tree is so linear and stupid" before being able to build them.

Look forward to many patches after the game is released that will allow you to test your skills with each and every change we deem to make without actually fixing any real problems. Making some problems worse is also a part of future gameplay. Embrace it!

We hope you'll join us in welcoming Civilization: Renegade to the Civilization Franchise. Remember, it will support DX11 and DX12 graphics (Windows 8) and they promise to be very, very shiny. We know you'll want to buy it on this point alone.

Well, keep 'em coming. And please, don't spam the rants thread with these exciting news. The real Civ V fans may miss them. :)

Moderator Action: Changed the thread title. The_J
2. edit: To be precise, i added "(Attention: Satire!)".

So the OP is basically a necro and some amazing witticism about DLC. Cool, can I join your hate brigade.
Moderator Action: Please don't troll around.

As a throwback to 2010, OP wants you to play the follower of an old thread in a full-2D world as OP runs around and shouts orders at their minions.

Much like in the original thread , New Thread: Renegade has been extensively play-tested so we can give you the best experience of any Forum thread to date. For instance, the game will assist you in moving around the world by using standard phrases such as "this game sux" instead of any constructive criticism. We believe this will give you an unparalleled experience. Using the 'N' key, you'll also be able to start the word No anywhere you like.

Look forward to many entries after the thread is released that will allow you to test your skills with each and every rant we deem to make without actually fixing any real problems. Making some problems worse is also a part of future forum entries. Embrace it!

We hope you'll join us in welcoming New Thread: Renegade to the Civilization Fanatics Forum. Remember, it will support DX11 and DX12 graphics (Windows 8) and they promise to be very, very shiny. We know you'll want to read this same old stuff again , on this point alone.

I, for one, have no problem with a lighthearted thread like this. Let's keep it civil please. :)

The old thread was enjoyed by many, regardless of whether you liked Civilization 5 or not. It was a thread that actually found some common ground.

So, I hope to see some entertaining humour and levity from this thread.

Wow, I totally have not seen this before. My God, I haven't seen this much satire since the Daily Show spoof on Glenn Beck. I have no idea how you keep coming up with amazing, fresh pieces of satire.

Keep up the good work.

I know a good satire,
and I know a satire that laughs back at the creator.

The thing OP wrote is the second one. It's stale, it's outdated, and not witty enough for 2011.

It's kind of sad how this forum is changing. Things are not what they used to be. Obviously the fans have changed along with the game.

If this attitude is the modern way, I'm glad to be old-fashioned.

Your attempt at a joke fell flat and you're blaming the audience?

Well, obviously people who somehow manages to enjoy Civ won't understand this kind of humour. And obviously those who do have left this sub-forum.

But what's really sad is this kind of comments:

So if I'm following you here:

Person who likes CiV = thread unfunny
Person who doesn't like CiV = thread hilarious

So your thread is solely directed at the people who have nurtured a dislike for civ and kept it active since release, yet still visit a forum dedicated solely to CiV so they can continue to revel in their dislike. I think you're seriously overestimating the desire of people to continuously participate in things they don't care for.

I heard that Civ 6 will not be single player, but the multiplayer part will come with patches around 1 year after release.

I also heard that they will bring some of the best stuff from previous titles. Among those are BSoD and MAFs. The BSoD will beat the GDR and the MAF can counter a WoD. Great news indeed if you are a Civ fan.

Other news I've heard is that Firaxis will produce a farmville-game based on civilization. Ofcourse most of the civ fanatics know this not to be true. It would simply be too ridiculous and a waste of time, money, talent and skill.

I heard the multiplayer is going to be like call of duty with a rank structure and everything. You'll be able to prestige and get custom user titles!

good for a laugh no matter what the fanboys say.

But we already know that Civ6 will be a FPS since strategy games are simply "not contemporary".

Funny thread, pity that all that is left in this bit of the forum is the "I bought it so I have to like it" kind of people. I find that even more amusing than the thread itself, so kudos for you, OP. :)

I heard that civ6's DLC system will be so amazing that you'll be able to completely customize everything from number of techs, civs, units, and even number of sides on the tiles.

So if you buy the whole package for $989 you'll get octagons with 20 civs, 100 techs, numerous units and even some game mechanics. And the multiplayer will even be compatible with the Basic Package ($49,95), so you can battle out with your friend (who unfortunately as Mr. Nobody civ, only can research The Wheel, and walk around with his worker on the single line map.

Lol. Do it yourself Civ?

Sort of sounds like Age of Empires online.

Then uhh, why'd you open this topic?

Moderator Action: Had this thread demonstrated a capability to remain civil and on topic, it would've stayed open. As it is, that has not been the case. Closed.
