Flags!

@israelite thanks for your comment, yeah I might do a different type later and leave this as a kind of Imperial flag or something, since they tend to be more complicated

Flag for the T'ho League in DisNES. Red is for the suffering of the Maya in the Pox, through which T'ho emerged; dark blue is for the sea that is the lifeline of the T'ho League; light-blue is for the Maya religion (the underground wells that are found below Maya temples), as is the compass (cross) shape that points to the four cardinal points; the pyramid in canton is for the people, the crown for the kings, and the laurels for peace and unity between the two, as is the white background.

Simple flags are the best. Some of the best are those you can describe in a non run on sentence.

That's not a run-on sentence, it is a periodic sentence. And it is simple, it's a tricolour cross with a small detail in canton. Besides, most people don't even bother to explain the heraldry in their flags, they just say "this if for this in this" or possibly mention one thing, but don't bother to explain all of the facets.

I wasn't referring to what you said Israelite. But it seems that you got the basic idea of what I was trying to communicate apparently. There's no need to nitpick about sentence structure. :p

@Captain- Complicated bit? Do what I do, make a flag then strip it of everything unesential. "Perfection is not when you have nothing left to add, but when you have nothing left to take away."

I remember saying that... ;)

What a coincidence, I remember somebody else saying that. ;)

What a coincidence, I was going to point out exacty the same! :D

A little flag I made for the Lengel in LINESII.

Hmmm...one of you talented flag makers, would you like to try and make a flag for the Nan Ming China in dis' nes? :D

I would, but I am not quite sure where to start as a base...

Two problems.

The Chinese Characters are definitely NOT the Nan Ming in question...

The Nan in yours means "grandmother"
The second character looks suspiciously like "dao" for "sword" although the stroke length is a bit off - Alex may be able to help there.

But thing is, that flag is talking about your grandmother's sword...

Also, Chinese never really had flags - as opposed to banners (they flap better in the wind and look cooler)

Because I'm at work and can't write Chinese script on this computer, these are the proper characters.

character on left is Nan for "south". Incidentally, that's the South Pole you're looking at
ming.gif

Ming as in the Dynasty name

Actually, I knew that those characters did not stand for Ming dynasty. I didn't even know what they meant ;).

I choose them cause they looked cool, but now I'll update it with the proper characters :)

Your damn right! Grandmother sword can kick so much ass ;)

Anyway, here's the better version.

Wouldn't a Nan Ming nation not really want to advertise the fact that it got driven out of the north? I don't recall the Southern Song ever being too proud of that, and they never called themselves the Nan Song.

Exactly, but thats ok, if the Qing mention it, Ill slap them :)

Grandmothers sword!  How did I know something like that would happen?

In any case, thanks contempt, you rock.

In total agreement.
That's the other thing that popped in mind while doing my work.

You should only have the word Ming there. While South is an auspicious direction, I think the "bright" in Ming (those two bits in Ming are the sun and moon ;)) should be more than enough.
The other dynasties never ever called themselves "East, West, South, North, etc." The reason why? Because they are "zhong". The Centre.

Oh, for the record I have been corrected.

The second character on the right is "lie"(Li-Eh) for "strength"

So it's grandma's strength!

Ah yes, the bright in Ming is associated with fire. While the word Qing is associated with water, meaning that the water of the Qing Dynasty will take out the fire of the Ming Dynasty. ;)

You should be ashamed you didn't mention me bananna :p And does the Dragon have enough claws?
