Flying Blind - A world-building exercise

Lone Star State

"Be it resolved that the Lone Star State shall begin the reintegration of the former State of Texas into the new, expanded territories of Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, hereinafter referred to as Greater Texas, with due haste and diligence. The extensive use of the armed forces, particularly the army, will be understood as "legal use of force" as written under article XXI of the War Code. Such use of force may include, but is not limited to, lethal or non-lethal neutralization of enemy combatants, taking of prisoners of war, execution of dissenting individuals after conviction by military tribunal, occupation of target lands, confiscation and/or destruction of private properties*, and strategic bombing.

"The first phase of reintegration will be complete when the major cities of the former state of Texas have ceased to operate as war-time occupied territories, and become civilly apart of the jurisdiction of the Lone Star State's courts. The transition between war-time and civilian jurisdiction will only take place when military stations are setup for long-term maintenance of domestic peace, food supplies, electrification, and all other basic necessities of life are being adequately provided, and all medias in the target territories are acting favourably to the Lone Start State and its courts."

*private properties as understood by the apparent owners of said property.

Some of you have noticed that the economies are a bit... strange, to say the least. This has to do with some of the math I've thrown into the economic system, and I have noticed it - expect it to be tweaked for this upcoming update.

Spend 5 on Madurai, Jaffna, and Visakhapatnam, in a similar fashion as on Chennai last turn.
Army: 3
Navy: 4

To Shanghai
From Coromandel
It appears you mistook us for Pacong. We will wear large signs on our chests in future. We would ask that some of Burma fall into Coromandel's sphere of influence, but otherwise that seems a very good buffer zone to avoid conflicts. Extending the zone vaguely northwest can probably wait until that region becomes worth anyone's time.

I seem to have gotten more EPs, so I am editing my orders. The changed orders are here.

Also, this is a little late, but to Cyprus, Venice has great olives, salt, fish (you also have that), and wine, as well as many other things. I am sure your merchants have plenty of things to trade.

CivOasis,

So looking around the world, what factors can we discern are contributing to the success of those states that are growing most quickly? Obviously Pacong (and many others) would be interested in emulating those things that are bringing them success.

From the Xing Dynasty
To the Shanghai Commune

I, Zhou Xing, Second of that Name, Holder of the Mandate of Heaven, Emperor of All China, King of Wuhan, Overlord of the Great World Island, Inspector of the Sunset Continents, Admiral of the Seven Seas, do greet you in peace.

I admire the tenacity of the people and the proletariat for overthrowing the false and blasphemous "King" (translate: Tyrant-Lord) of Shanghai, and thus proving him unworthy of participating in the Mandate of Heaven. We all are Chinese, all stretching from the Great Peaceful Ocean to the east, the Great Hindu Ocean to the South, the Great Yuazien Steppe to the West, and the Great Ice Cube to the North. And we all are one under the great Eye of Heaven: Yellow Emperess, Yezu Chufuzi, Budah, Ahlah and others are his names.

I will offer this deal once, and I will offer this deal one time ONLY. Declare I, and the Xing Dynasty your Sovereign and your rightful Emperor, and cast unto me all your powers and your peoples. In addition, I ask for 1EP of your natively produced goods and crafts of the sea. In return, I shall return them all, name you Suzerain of the Shanghai Commune and Supreme Warden of the Great Pacific Ocean, and let you live under your own, native formed government. Call me not generous, for if you do so we shall grant you gifts beyond imagine from our Mountain Lairs.

However, if you refuse to accept my generous offer, I shall declare you Outlaws, Counterrevolutionaries, and Rebels, and cast you from the gaze of the Eye of Heaven, and unleash upon you the fury of all Sichuan currently under my rule, and burn all you have built to the ground, so that sanctified reconstruction may commence. Until you repent of your decision to reject the above and accept a future deal, the fury shall not end until all is destroyed.

Choose well, my friend. Enter the Empire as a brother, or die as an Outlaw.

OOC: For those who know Chinese, the pinyi hides a pun. ;) Also, worked a bit with time affecting traditions and translations.Suzerainly

For the deal itself, basically grant me everything as per Chinese Absolutism AKA Legalism, and I shall return everything you just gave me right back and accept you as a "independent" client state. The only thing I have absolute power over you on is foreign policy, and even then you can break "orders" as long as you accept consequences. (aka, I will support you in a war only if you provoked it accidentally, did it under my direction, or gave me good reason to not let you suffer for it). Ergo, they are more guidelines. Everything else domestically is totally under your control, with certain things I will ask and you will grant as tribute. Pretty sure this is how/Chinese Client States operate, but if not, differences are from now on assumed to be intentional.

Also, you have 9 in your military and 18 to spend this turn. I have 67 EP. Do the math. I really don't want to destroy you. Negotiation is possible, if done respectfully and according to neo-modern-confucian-stuff principles.
Awaiting a response.

Many of those that are expanding successfully are adapting newer forms of technology, are centered around lesser-populated regions, and are exercising very loose control over the areas they encompass - either due to the logistics of controlling such a region with present capabilities, or because they have arranged a looser rule in a form of pseudo-client or confederation-type agreement.

Agreed. Name your Monarch, and I shall accept his Vassalage.

Change of Government in Shanghai!

The Council has decided change from a stratocracy to a "crowned republic"/elected monarchy. this will allow political union between the two Chinas. how the elected monarchy will work is the Council whenever a ruler dies will elect out of the council a new ruler. The current king is a man from the Wu clan.

I guess monarchies are just one step away from a stratocracy.

Though I must say-revolutions and changing governments is a HUGE DEAL.

I myself have no idea why they changed into a monarchy. I'm ok with any kind of society that accepts my overlordship as a friend and a client state.

@CivOasis

I need clarification on the term, Socialis. I want to know if this is a full on Socialism where the government owns all means of production, or if it is a Mixed economy/ Market Socialism/socialist market economic system/state capitalism.

I use socialism and communism in a more "stereotypical" vs. "by definition" sort of way; socialism is (usually) referring to a mixed system. Stuff like authoritarianism can skew this, though (IE, some things are directly related to RL movements - for example, Military-Industrialist/Militaristic/Nationalistic = Fascism)

Oh good.

Because I imagined my nation being under a market socialism system where the accumulation of capital happens, but most of them due to artificial competitions driven and kept in check by the government, who holds power over the economy via employing both legal and downright illegal methods.

Can we expand using the army?
