Football Thread No. 9

i love how deluded liverpool fans are, were still a big club, were still in the fight for 4th, i can see swansea taking 7th from them soon

Suddenly, Real Madrid looses 4 points in 4 days and la Liga is wide-open again...I wonder why Real is breaking down like this, they got 3 players sent out (Ramos, Özil and Pepe after the match) plus Mourinho, who in my opinion, is the cause of all of Madrid's issues. They claim they were "robbed" even though the ref missed two clear penalties in favor of Villareal. IMHO, they got exposed as the gang of shameless thugs they really are.

Yes, apparently if you say that referee's mother "holds the world's oldest profession" means that you are being robbed.
They are used to being favored by referees, if they are not being favored, they see it as a robbery

"Equipo del gobierno, vergüenza del país"…

I love it, Fergie's already riling up teams like he did in the good old days of trailing Newcastle…

what i do not get is why the inconsistent rambling of fergie are genius mind games and the inconsistent ramblings of pretty much everyone else are inconsistent ramblings.

Because when he does it, it works.

Correct! back when Newcastle were twice runners-up to Fergies' Manchester ('96 and '97).

GOAL! Sunderland 0-1 QPR. Is this a comeback from the R's? Now is the answer but Taye Taiwo has got a consolation.

GOAL! SUNDERLAND 3-0 QPR. Stephane Sessegnon has got the third on his return to the first team after great work from James "McClane" McClean."Has Billy Sharp opened the scoring against Doncaster then?" asks Harvey Parkes who, I suspect, already knows the answer to that question is yes. Nice for him that. Thought it would get a mention in the round up." Read an interview with him here.

So apparently QPR's goal cancelled out all of Sunderland's goals.

comolli should just sack all the players and put ones in that actually have fun playing football.

those will probably lose against sunderland, but hey, so do the current ones, and at least nobody will have to watch eleven depressed men mindlessly running up and down a football pitch.

this. minus sterling. and change sunderland into wigan.

I didn't even notice Chelski were playing Totnam, I was just gazing at the repeats of Arteta's goal against Aston Villa. Everton got a good away win as well.

And… Crouch scores. Maybe Liverpool'd trade him in for Carroll and a few quid? Or, maybe Stoke would just give 'em Crouch to stop Carroll from coming.

Ahahahahaha after two crazy wins over Valencia and Athletic, Zaragoza are level with the other two relegation zone teams and 6 points off survival, even after such a terrible season.

Ya hay esperanza!

Arwon, the win was against Atletico not Athletic. ;) Match against Athletic won't be until April 29th (aprox. ir may be the 28th, the 29th or the 30th)

In any case I think that it is quite dificult for them avoiding relegation this year.
Furthermore, I wish them a relegation and coming back to La Liga next year, if this means that Zaragoza's owner, Mr Iglesias, is going to leave the club. Zaragoza supporters deserve much more than a clodhopping idiot and alleged tax evader managing the club

Ah, righto.

I thought Iglesias was already leaving?

Ah, righto.

I thought Iglesias was already leaving?

He said that he was leaving if anyone was able to buy his stocks (has been a month since then and has not said price yet). In any case he ha said it so many times that he has distorted the meaning of the word leaving.
Real Zaragoza and Zaragoza (the city) deserves having Agapito Iglesias going far afield them. In fact, any city or any club deserves it.

Everton and Totnam progress to the semifinals (Merseyside semifinals! Wheee!) of the FA Cup.

Chelski beat Benfica. Could is just be that their players didn't want to be at their ebst under AVB? And they perform best against a Portuguese team.

Happens all the time all around the world, so it's certainly not inconceivable. But another important factor is that they abandoned AVB's tactical experimentations and reverted back to a style they've been comfortable for the past 8 years, implemented by Mourinho and continued with more or less variation by his successors. The rest of the season is gonna be one last stand for old time's sakes. Villas Boas's overhaul was precocious but it'll probably come soon supervised by someone else.

That said, Chelsea's performance was far from awe inspiring. They don't look as disjointed as they did one or two months ago, especially in defence, but still look poor otherwise. Benfica's balloon has deflated spectacularly in the past 6 weeks or so, they looked toothless for most of the match, but still probably deserved the win more than Chelsea did.

Funny fact: 3 of the 4 teams in action on Tuesday used at least 3 portuguese players each. 1 team used none: Benfica...

I hope I'm wrong, but basically these CL QF's are only 20 minutes of inspiration by Messi&Co. away from being totally over.
