Fox-04 -- The Prime Directive

Please qualify which Dax you are referring to

I am well aware there were seveal Daxes. None can be called sexy, other than Jadzia. Not Ezri, nor Kurzon, nor any other.

Also, Trill spots go "all the way" down you know... :yumyum: Worf was one lucky Klingon.

... a pity this B.A. in English could only get me a Communications Officer gig, sheesh. It'll take forever to pay off my student loans on that pay scale. wherever could they've gotten the idea that you had a BA in English Pindicator
Actually, communications officer is quite a prestigious post ... I believe Hoshi was a lecturer or some academic herself, and archer had to use all his charm and tricks to lure her to agree to being the communications officer ...

... :mischief: ... but then again, that was before the universal translator was invented ... :D

Helmsman Sam_Yeager walks briskly onto the bridge. "I relieve you sir" he says to the comms oficer lolling in the command chair. "Ah yes, handover report is in the log. Don't forget to check the captain's log for any additional details."

Sam_Yeager assumes command of the ship. The captain's log makes reference to some place known as Libyan. Looks like this could be a long night shift......

Yep it's more a star trek babe thread than a game as I find I was scrolling around quite a bit to get the game details.

@Chris

I mentioned in one of my post "Terry Farrell" which is the DAX I prefer and seemed to be on the longest.

Also, Trill spots go "all the way" down you know... Worf was one lucky Klingon

Oh yeah

Also I do remember that episode in TNG where Alexander came from the future as a Klingon warrrior. Wasn't he trying to save Worf from being killed. Interesting how he met his younger self in that episode and the universe didn't implode.

Had a look at the save and interesting. We only got one city in 1000 BC? Good thing we are building a settler. Those borders will grow nicely with three religions on board. Are we aiming to get them all to stop the local folks from going against the prime directive. What drives me crazy is you will choose Buddhism as your state religion and one of the other civs gets spread of one of your other religions. DOH and DOH.....

Star Trek's time theory posits an infinite number of parallel universes. When you go back in time and change things, all you're doing is creating a separate branch that if you go forward in you'll see a changed world. The original branch doesn't change though.

Ergo time is like a river..

How about on TNG where the old Starship from the past comes from a wormhole and all of sudden USS Enterprise is in a war with the Klingons and Tasha is back. The ship was supposed to have been lost in trying to save a Klingon outpost from Romulan attack but never happened and they tried to get it back to the past to complete that. That's where Tasha felt out of place (Guynan) and went with them to the past. Once they did everything was fine again. (PS it might not have been a wormhole but something else that escapes me.)

That was one of my favorite episodes as again I just love battle.

"Yesterday's Enterprise". I also like "cause and effect" - the episode where Kelsey Grammer is the captain of another starship that is trapped in a 'causality loop'.

Yep that's another favourite too Ruff Hi.....Love the idea of "causality loop". Ever have one of those days it feels like that...

I'm sure any who can know this, does already but FYI, on the cable station G4, TNG is one from 8-10 nightly.

Federation psychologists have countered unhappiness with the Federation amongst the population. Attempts by non federation civilizations to enter federation space have been rebuffed.

A scouting mission of the planet Libyan by NX-01 has revealed a large number of Breen in occupation which outnumber our forces. As a result the mission to liberate this planet has been stood down.

Federation scientists have developed enhanced weapons. However the necessary tritium required for their construction is elsewhere within the solar system. Forceful encouragement upon Earth has resulted in a new colony to mine the tritium. Additional research by the scientists has improved surface transport. Current research is focused upon improving the economy.

NX-02 has joined NX-01 in the exploration of the galaxy.

Spoiler :
Built a buddhist temple to counter unhappiness and another galley. Whipped settler from Earthand founded Mars in the south. The memory is just about forgotten. Currently building a buddhist monastery whilst waiting for copper to come online.

Learnt bronze working and the wheel. Current research is pottery.

Confucianism FIDL. Oracle & Kong Miao built elsewhere.
Declined open borders request from Monty.

Gee I was kinding hoping we were hopping around the galaxy in the NCC1701E
Oh yeah......

This is "I got it" and will play tonight late with the night owls...

Open Transmission

Tactical officer reporting for duty on the bridge sir. Bridge crew will make an assessment and determine our further path. Now that we have the necessary tritium being mined we shall make new officers to go and out liberate the galaxy of Libyans. Officer Cos feels we need to put up new colonies to expand the Federation which should become a priorty.

Expect a further detailed report after beaming down to the surface and assessing our situation.

End Transmission

@ Sam Yeager ~ love the name! do you read any of Turtledove's other series, e.g., the Great War (191) series?

[/Enterprise computer voice] ( <-- equals "lurker comment" ;) )

Tactical officer hailing Captain Greyfox.

Captain now we are in a conundrum regarding the non interference clause. We have persons that can add other planets to our Federation but need to enable a policy of Open Borders to do so. Since they have no ties to any other federation as such would not Open Borders for the sake of negotiating a treaty with them and having our experts entice them to join be allowed. Perhaps this has been covered but the thread alas is long and tedious sir. Could you elaborate on this sir so we might consider sending our fine ships out to entice these nearby planets. I was about to begin our survey and was wondering since I notice the previous commander "Helmsman Sam Yeager" refused such a request. I agree from what the variants state but how do we get them to join, by a chance spread of our charter?

Perhaps our Empath Ruff_Hi can transmit a single to these planets and let them learn the charter in this manner. For now since it is somewhat off I will continue with my survey and report back later.

Tactical officer out - end transmission.....

Tactical Officer Cos lands on the surface of sector 001 with a compliment of engineers and scientists. Sir we are in the process of seeking to get the tritium mined for enhancing our officers to engage in battle. We are currently awaiting the expansion of Mars to be able to bring this into the Federation. Our navigators are currently exploring but have limitations of movement right now due to non-interference so they are returning to aid in movement of officers to help liberate Libyan from the Despots.

Scientists report we need some additional pressed latinum for our research efforts and recommend we alter once we finish the Federation Charter establishment being built in Earth HQ. Furthermore officer Cos we should proceed to find a new communication method to further enhance our ability to build a science center. Although more is needed after this communication enhancement we would only need one more such enhancement to start building a world renowned science center. Engineer Koto points out that we need more colonies and more engineers to improve our Federation.

So it is and Cos puts forth the appropriate codes to begin the implementation of his advisors.

Stardate 01-550 thru Stardate 10-300

Earth HQ finishes Federation charter establishment and a new colonist is started.
We finish the ability to make fine wares and proceed onto a new communication method.

Our only engineer finishes the geo farm and starts on a new cottage to compliment Mars.

As our ships move back to Earth HQ island it finds a abundance of resources off the island just east of us.

Civ4ScreenShot0033-1.jpg

Merit Ptah has been born which will likely be used to aid in the setup of a new charter.

Civ4ScreenShot0034-1.jpg

Scientist perform some work on Earth to boost our research. Move ships to bear for bringing new officers to Libyan.

Sir we are receiving a hail from the gentlemen that calls himself Peter. Go ahead ensign and open channel. “We are seeking to extend a free movement within each others borders Officer Cos.” Cos responds: I regretfully inform that our charter limits us in engaging in this for now but we await further orders from Starfleet. We thank you for your interest and perhaps some day you can become a member of our Federation. Peter replies: “that is regrettable” Transmission out….

Sir I have good news Mars has increased it’s area of influence and we are ready to start mining the tritium. Excellent proceed immediately.

Stardate 11-275 thru Stardate 20-0050

Engineer Koto hails and reports: Good news sir another colonist is on the way to settling in the south near the hills and Dyes for a Great Colony and we have proceeded to build another Engineer for enhancement of Earth. Excellent Koto keep up the good work. Another thing Officer Cos we are building an offshore beacon in Mars but we have adequate sustenance there right now. We could use another Engineer there to start on the gold pressed latinum to further enhance our research. Sound goods Koto proceed. The engineer is proceeding on building a gateway to transport the tritium as well.

Personal log: Stardate 200
We are in the process of bringing on new engineers and settling another colony which will help bring influence of the Federation in the local galaxy. Our defense shielding is weak and once the tritium is hooked up we can start on stronger defenses but for now being on our own I feel our path is good. Being of a science/tactical background I believe pursing the Great Science Center is paramount. Our ships although limited will be arriving shortly and able to carry enough officers to liberate Libyan, which have been crying to join the Federation. What of our neighbours might they seek to join our Federation in due time.

Engineer hails and reports: Sir we have brought on a new colony and named it Epsilon. Furthermore we feel that once we have reached our goal in acquiring the new communication methods we should seek to find a method to deal with the jungle near Epsilon. Confirmed Koto and out….

At the end of my duty roster we finish another engineer at Earth and start on a science center. Engineer at Mars finishes gateway and starts on the gold pressed latinum.

Final report:

We are waiting connecting various precious metals and should be on line soon. In addition the communication method will be done in a short 5 turns and a Great Federation specialist will be ready to serve in 9 turns.

End Transmission Officer Cos out……..

Admiral Dorothy to Tactical Officer Cos

It is my regret to inform you that StarFleet Command has rejected your proposal, despite my advice to do otherwise. Here is the official response:

Starfleet Command Responds

The Federation is founded based on the principle we think is right. It is precisely on the pretense of "dire security concern" that the Xindi has attempted countless assaults against Earth, and Human as a Civilization. We shall not betray the prinicple by which this organization is founded, no matter the cost. The Prime Directive must prevail.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the decision. But, there are actually ways around it such that our ships could enter Peter's border without any Open Borders agreement ... but are we prepared for the cost of doing so?

----

Great report, Cosmichail! Things are looking good. There is this irritating issue of not being able to pass through Russia's borders save a war declaration, but I think that's something we must live with.

But, I am thinking if religion can spread without open borders? If no, then we would be playing Cuban Isolationist instead of Prime Directive. In that case, I am considering to change the variant a bit, and define the Principle of Non-Interference as "we cannot actively initiate trade with non-Federation members, but can accept trade initiated by them".

Whats does the crew think?

If they can communicate with us, then that shows that the are NOT a pre-warp civilization (and hence the Prime Directive doesn't apply). So, once they have reached out to us, we should be able to communicate, trade, etc with them. It is them that must make the first step. Once that is done, we should make every effort to combine them into the Federation.

we cannot actively initiate trade with non-Federation members, but can accept trade initiated by them".

Captain I believe that is probably wise but perhaps we should limit what type of requests they make of us. Exchanging goods and opening a gateway may be considered allowing us to bring our Federation specialist to influence them. However requests of war/technologies must be denied at all costs unless they are a part of the Federation. We should also limit the amount of time they have to join the Federation but of course I leave that to your discretion and purvue of Starfleet.

Officer Cos out.....

The other option is that all civilizations that are less advanced than us are protected by the Prime Directive while civs that are equal or more advanced than us are not protected by it.
