Fox-04 -- The Prime Directive

Acting Captain's Log

Stardate 2418.2

Lieutenant Worf in command. I have reviewed the state of the UFP and found no problems with planetary production. The attack force against Medina needs to have more of the enhanced torpedo launchers. I will delay the attack until they arrive. Our first major attack must be decisive!

The Klingons contact us with a proposed trade.

KlingonTrade2.jpg

This trade definitely favours the Klingons. However Captain Picard has made it clear that we must prevent disunity amongst the federation so I decide to accept the trade.

Sociologists transmit a report indicating doubts on Earth about our just war against the Romulans.

EarthHappiness.jpg

I decide that an enhanced establishment promoting the benefits of the charter is needed to quell the doubters. A previous log suggested building a major production facility at Libyan. I implement the proposal.

The Ferengi say that we should not trade with the Vulcans. I reject this crude attempt to sow discord amongst the federation although I fear that relations with the Ferengi have deteriorated. Research of the Combustion technology is complete.

Contruction of an extraction facility near Yekaterinburg is under way. I select the Assembly Line technology for research as we will need more powerful weapons in the future.

Medina is captured for the loss of only one enhanced torpedo launching system. Qapla! Universal translator tie-in: Success! Because this planet was the centre of two rebel charters the Romulan's science and funding will be disrupted.

A romulan warbird is successfully destroyed by one of our Defiant class vessels.

A scouting mission of the Romulan capital planet reveals that it is well defended although their spaceships are mostly avoiding contact with our forces. I decide that I will reinforce the attack force whilst our weapons are being repaired after the previous assault. Reinforcement will use the cascadng transport method demonstrated during the last war exercises.

RomulanCapForces.jpg

Sabic is commanded to build one of the new research establishments. We intercept a Dominion sub-space message about their commercial facilities.

Smolensk has started construction of a charter building. Another Dominion sub-space message is intercepted mentioning something called the 'Statue of Liberty'. As if they knew anything about that!

Epsilon has started work on a new commercial facility. The log transcript is below.

I cant take it this evening anyway, good luck Sam :)

If I may, can I jump in next week should I find ANY time ?

Fine by me. Obviously the Cap'n has the final say. :D

Excellent work on taking Medina. So next is Mecca.

As to unhappiness overall we are able to revolt to Police State but that would slow down research so if it's Earth only we could just try to tweak it. Nice thing about PS is we get +25% military production bonus and considering our low production for the most part might be a considerable help.

Earth's now happy again after the enhanced charter building. :) I mentioned it in case it was a forerunner of further problems.

Sam
Ah you're right I did notice that. Hopefully it won't grow so fast again.

From what I can tell Pindicator can't play until Tuesday/NamliaM wants to play next week sometime and I have time to play later tonight so here's a "got it". Wir fahren jegen Arabia nur.

Geez I just downloaded the save and notice we are at 1910 already. Captain what's the game plan on winning this. Diplomatic?? We should try to get to Mass Media soon for UN and build it so we control it.

Officer Cos enters the bridge and seats himself in the captain’s chair. Ensign speaks up and states: “Sir our troops are receiving necessary repairs before they proceed on to take “Romulus”. They are waiting in Remus right now.” (who knew the Romulans were actually Romans in disguise)

Excellent Ensign give me a tactical analysis of the situation. Ensign answers: Well sir we have a good amount of torpedo launchers and gren attackers so we will be able to take Romulus soon. How many ships do we have there Ensign? Two Constitution class warships and many transports which will be heading back to Earth for reinforcements. These transport ships will have escorts. Well sir the tactical team feels they are safe for their journey and we should use the warships to bombard Romulus before our troops get there. Sounds good but just in case Ensign have one of planets begin on the new war ship which is galaxy class and much more powerful than the constitution class.

Stardate 1912-1

Personal log

We discover a new form of weaponry known as ASL01 and now proceed to discover Electricity which will provide us the path to more advanced weapons systems. We are unable to continue our science rate and must decrease to 70%. Transport ships heading back to Earth for reinforcements. Deploy troops to Mecca.

Ensign looks at the communications screen and inform Cos that he has a hail from Starfleet and is marked confidential.
I’ll take that in the captain’s ready room Ensign.

Spoiler :

Cos heads for the ready room and opens the channel. Admiral it’s so nice to see you again. Likewise officer Cos and see that our plan is working. Yes sir we are at war with the Romulans and the Klingons are gearing up for a war. We suspect that they will target us. Admiral Negev speaks: Yes our Cardassians friends have done their work well and the Klingons are indeed preparing for battle. Cos: Do you think we can get the Vulcans involved too Admiral. Admiral: It would be possible but probably with a price. Remember Cos do what you can to bring a large force against the Klingons if they do as we suspect and try to bring in the Vulcans. We would like to see the Klingon Empire destroyed and non existent. Cos: I agree admiral and will make it so but right now it’s up to the Klingons now. Admiral Negev: End Transmission.

Cos returns to the bridge and updates himself on the tactical situation.

Startdate: 1914.2

Smolensk starts a new class transport for our needs in the Romulan war.
Medina starts a theater to help it expands it borders.
Troop deployment.

Stardate 1916.3

Sir we are receiving a hail from our forces near Romulus. Yes put them on Ensign.
“We are engaged in fierce battle and are engaging numerous torpedo launchers to weaken Romulus. We have lost 3 launchers and several of our attackers but after a long difficult battle against a large number of defenders we prevail."

Excellent commander do the necessary repairs and wait for a future deployment. Yes sir we’ll do.

Civ4ScreenShot0385.jpg

Stardate 1918.4

Personal log:

Earth builds infantry and starts a torpedo launcher.
We are experiencing unhappiness and no building available that will help.
Notice that we have state property and decide we should revolt to it for better income and better food for workshops and watermills.

We contact all known civs except Romulans and nothing to trade or increase our trades with them.

Stardate 1920-5

Starting to ready troops for deployment to Baghdad.
Yeka finishes Cannon start galaxy class warship.

Sir we are receiving a hail from one of our ships scouting out Baghdad. Put them on:
Crackle, crackle we are under attack by a superior ship from the Romulans sssssss and silence. Put the other ship on: Yes sir we just witnessed our ship get attacked by a Clad class warship. Ok Commander leave the area now until we get a galaxy class ship in the area. Yes sir.

Personal log:
Consider the recent attack on our constitution class warship I believe we have to wait until we have a stronger ship accompany our ships to Baghdad. Some are in the process of being built but a ways off. I have asked Earth to start building one next.

Stardate 1921-6

Earth finishes a torpedo launcher and starts a galaxy class warship.
Ship/troop deployment.

Stardate 1922-7

Mars starts a factory for production.
More ship/troop deployment.

Stardate 1923-8

Sir we are receiving a hail from General Klaag. Yes Ensign put him on. (Cos hopes this is it and the Cardassians did their work).

Klaag screaming: You have insulted the Klingon Empire for the last time now face us in battle. So be it Klaag looking forward to meeting you in battle.

Ensign raise the Vulcans. Yes sir. Emissary I would like to ask since the recent declaration of war on the Federation by the Klingon empire that you assist us. Live long and prosper Commander Cos. We ask that you share with us your recent discovery of ASL01. Yes we can do that Emissary.

(and so the plan works and the Vulcans start war on the Klingons too)

Personal Log:

Having spread our troops a little thin I feel we should get a peace treaty from the Romulans so we can deal with the Klingons more effectively and they accept.

Stardate 1924-9

Our science team finishes electricity and start industrialism (of course for the tanks/and Dreadnought class warships ooh baby)

Earth finishes a galaxy class warship and starts another.
Klingons also have equivalent warships to our galaxy class D6 battlecruiser and going after resource satellites and putting them out of commission.

Vulcans hail us with this trade: (we accept to forego losing citizens in Earth due to unhealth caused by Klingon attacks.)

Civ4ScreenShot0395.jpg

Stardate 1925-10

Personal log:

Romulus is holding several old transport ships and troops when we decide to go after the Romulans again. Since we have lost numerous resource satellites and lacking in warships until we build some more Deep space 9 is currently building resource satellites to bring back health to our cities.

We have taken two of the most precious Romulan cities and there are a few that are worth taking but many that aren't and will drive up our cost. Since the Klingons are in close proximity we should do an all out after them and finish them off. Diplomatically we have the Vulcans and maybe Cardassians. Ferengi are upset with us and the Dominion would be our competitor. There is 11 turns left on Industrialism and I think we have a chance at Domination. Once we finish various facilities we should go to war mode completely. I would like to suggest that once we finish Industrialism go to Police state. Drop our science for a bit and upgrade some transports. Earth cannot buld a factory with lack of health available there but if we hook up fish/crabs at Deep space 9 it might help. We will loose the clams at Earth since our one of our destroyers in healing in Sabic. There is another destroyer enroute from Medina to assist. We should have 2 or 3 more online soon.

Gezz ... you guys played too fast!

Domination? Hmm ... ... looking at the minimap, domination seems to be pretty difficult to grab 64% of land, even if we convert all of Klingons and Romulans, we will barely hit 50%.

I think Diplo is the best bet, Space a distance 2nd, Time a 3rd possibility ;)

Well the Dominion is quite near to Mass Media. :( However hopefully they will head for space instead.

I see your point on domination but diplomatic won't be easy either. We will only have Vulcans and maybe Cardassians. Don't think that's enough for diplo win either. Ferengi/Romulans are annoyed with us and Klingons are cautious with us (won't ever give us diplo win). Maybe after we take out Romulans/Klingons then we could. It's already 1925 and working on Industrialism so we will see if we have Aluminium. Maybe go for Rocketry next but will need artillery or flight. Vulcans have artillery so maybe we could trade. We don't have a lot of time left for Space either but with trading who knows.

One other point we now control five charters so now I think we can initiate deals with members of these charters freely? Your input please Captain.

In StarFleet HeadQuarters

Picard: Captain Sisko, congrats on your promotion.

Sisko: Captain, thanks. Er ... captain, I would like to apologize for my behavior the last time we met. I was rude, and I couldn't imagine how much it hurts you more than it hurts me ...

Picard: Let's put them behind us, Benjamin. We are here to discuss the recent Klingon betrayal.

Sisko: This is the second time they'd betrayed. I say we give them a kick in their big bulky head.

Picard: True, but I suspect ther eis some other treachery deep within ...

Sisko: What?

Picard: Worf had served under you for a couple of years now. Commander Dax knows Klingon more than any human. Do you think Klingons would ever betray their allies?

Sisko: Worf is hardly an example ... he is brought up by Rojenkos, However, I do admit it isn't typical Klingons.

Picard: Which is why I had Data run a full analysis of the situation. In fact we borrowed some help from your Doctor Bashir and his genetically enhanced friends. They came up with only one possible explanation.

Sisko: What?

Picard: There are external forces at work here. Either the Romulans are behind it, or someone else more devious.

Sisko: Romulans? Didn't that daughter of Tasha Yar tried that once?

Picard: Yes, but our recent war against the Romulans suggests that while the Romulans might have such an ambition, they lack the means. They can hardly fend off the Cardassians.

Sisko: Then who do you suspoct?

Picard: Data and Bashir thinks it might be the Dominions. Their shape shifters may be masquerading as High Council members, sowing discord between the Klingons and the Federation.

Sisko: Hmm ... what do you plan to do?

Picard: Which is why I need to talk to you. I need to borrow Worf and Dax from you. They would infiltrate as Klingons to discover the truth. Meanwhile, the Enterprise and the Defiant should combine forces to lead a major offensive against the Klingons to divert their attention.

Sisko: Sounds like a good plan. I will make te preparation.

Picard: Make it so.

--

Its an entirely boring set of military build up. The only interesting thing is Peter sank our Workboat (damned, I hate destroyers, they move too fast, so you can't get any warning). We sank that destroyer with one of our own.

Next thing of interest is the civic switch:

fox04-AD1926-civics.jpg

Next player gets to have some fun, with industralism coming in next turn, and our troops ready to land (I suggest landing on the hill).

fox04-AD1935-sit.jpg

Note the "..." in the troops composition ... suggesting there are more troops not shown.

Have fun.

Ruff is UP if you can play before Tuesday, else Pindicator grab it on Tuesday.

Communcation Officer's log, stardate 235.1945

After finally being freed from the clutches of a malfunctioning holodeck for the ump-teenth time, Communication's Officer Pindicator finally finds his way to the bridge and assumes command. He realizes that his crewmates eye him oddly as he stands in front of the captain's chair, arms akimbo, and narrating about his actions in third-person, so he deems to win their respect with a decisive display of military might!

He orders our troops onward to Rostov. The ultimate defender is spawned to fight off our troops:

fox041937adrostovlandingpa3.jpg

However, the Federation cannons shudder and the infantry storm the town!

fox041937adrostovcapturedmc2.jpg

(with minimal losses).

Seeing how his crew now slightly respects him, Comm. Officer Pindicator continues narrating, arms akimbo, but now with a twitch to his eyebrow that makes Peter cower in terror and jealousy. Might a sane man wait for reinforcements, for the new battle-tanks that would turn a technological advantage? No! Push onward and win this splintering federation charter back through force what words could not accomplish!

fox041939adpetersburglandingkv0.jpg

The troops are ordered to hold the beachhead at all costs; reinforcements are en route but will take several years to arrive even at fastest warp speeds. Wave after wave of the traitorous enemy approach, and although their losses were fierce the Federation still holds the beach at the end of the day!

fox041939adcounterki8.jpg

And so now the stand-off begins: the seige of St. Petersburg. Our cruises bombard planetary defenses while Communication's Officer Pindicator surveys the situation. On both sides troops are wounded, tired; whole formations have been reduced to ragged bands of soldiers.

fox041940adpeteoffmq3.jpg

And he orders our troops onward! For the re-unification of the Federation! For the Charter!!!

fox041940adwithdrawua0.jpg

And when the dust settled, the brave words of their commander inspired their heroic events and the day was won! Even if the battle was far from over:

fox041940adendoffirstdayhb3.jpg

But the troops were gassed; the artillery shells were depleted; the enemy brought in a grizzled defender: the CG2-Infantry. Our morale threatened to sink. Look -- the reinforcements have arrived!

fox041941adreinforcementscm8.jpg

From the sea the fresh troops assaulted St. Petersburg, and then inspired by acts of valor, by the new invincible tanks, our army pushed forward, to victory!!!

fox041941adpetecapturedwb3.jpg

There the puissant commander gave his army pause to tend to their wounded. More tanks were shuttled in from the factories of Earth, and soon a landing party was established to push forward. The enemy's stronghold has fallen; the path to victory is clear! Onward!

fox041945admoscowvq5.jpg

Clearly in awe of our communication officer, the populace has given a great scientist, who resides in leisure at Earth until a suitable task can be found for him. I humbly suggest that he attempt to inspire the populace to greater production, a truly golden age of the Federation.

In the toughest decision of his command, our Federation brethren the Vulcans were declared upon by the Cardassians. They requested our aid in the last year of my command and I promised to lend what I could: all deals with the Cardassians are now null and void and open war has been declared. The charter lands, so close to being reunited, were not about to be splintered again under Communication Officer Pindicator's watch. Whether this is too big a task will be written by later historians: perhaps the charter never had a chance to begin with, but it is worth fighting for, worth sacrificing any one empire over.

Very well done, Comms Officer! Good job taking St Petersburg :goodjob: ... that must be like 10 ships sank at the taking of the city, at least half of his navy.

As I recall, the Klingons had most of their troops stationed in St Pete, so the remaining cities should be easy taking. Let's quickly clean up Moscow and Novingod, and sue for peace, and turn our attention to Cardassia.

The treacherous Cardassians finally showed their true colors ... we shall show them no mercy ... (and hopefully we survive the ordeal ). Let's hope this is not DS9 ... I would really have my jaws dropped if the Dominions join the Cardassians and send Jem Hadars against us.

I see Cosmic get his wish ... we are slowly being forced to go the Domination route afterall ...

yawn - got it. Will try and play / post tonight? Who are we fighting this time? I thought this was meant to be the federation with its non-inter-fear-ance policy? I just bet GF is going to blame me for all of this.

The big question is ... what StarTrek story will Ruff ruin this time?

my fav episode - cause and effect

Man did that mess with my head. Ruff you da master of "cause and effect" after reading that three times I thought WTH..... and then aaaahhhh a sigh of relief. I was already all upset our precious Epsilon/Libyan/Deep space 9 was lost.

Good one ... I was wondering: WTH! Then by the second repreat, I knew where the inspiration came from :goodjob:

Yeah I like Cause & Effect too ... very original. I must have watched it more time than Enterprise has exploded in that episode and I still enjoyed it every time. My other favourites are the one where they found Data's head, the one where Geordi and Ro phased out in an Romulan ship, Deja Q, Yesterday's Enterprise, Measure of a Man, Data's Daughter ... a lot, a lot ...

okay, back to the game:

You played only 5 turns? Hmm ...

Next up:

-- GreyFox ==
-- Ruff Hi == Deja Vu in Typhan Expanse
-- namliaM == Skip? Swap? Risa? Captured by Romulans?
-- Pindicator == Proved his Command capability
-- Sam_Yeager == UP
-- Cosmichail == On Deck, despite being on medical watch residual post-assimilation effect

The next phase? One of my favs too but I was always wondering how they could run in the ship if they couldn't touch it.
