Fox-20 -- The Harsh War

Nice work berserks.

We need to try and get Monty's city connected to the rest of the empire for free religion spread.

If Cyrus has three cities he becomes Public Enemy #1. As he is not creative, we should look at quickly razing his non-capital cities and hole him up Toko-style in the capital.

Another settler for the south would be good but probably no more for the next little while.

Nice work taking down the Aztec. I would look for one more quick settle soon too before pausing for a while.

Got it.

Nice job taking the risk and it pays off.

Yes, the next city should be to connect the newly acquired city to our capitol ... seems a tab far though. My inclination is for blue dot below.

Fox20-BC1575-dotmap.jpg

Green is the SparklingCrabs, red is suggested FishingWheat, both of them will be settled in the distant future.

Agreed on going Husbandry next ... now that we have some mutton to make.

Playing in 12 hrs, you have until then to comment.

Blue city looks good, I'd consider founding 1W to allow for lighthouse powered lake tiles, but your spot is fine too. I haven't opened the save yet, but some more exploring around Cyrus might be a good idea.

I like our capital better than Tenochtitlan; it would be a very different game if starting positions had been reversed

I would move blue 1W to be able to build a lighthouse to get "3foods" lake (x2) while losing a fur (which we won't be able to work) and a deer (which will be used by green anyway), and also gaining some random tiles (possibly a hill, but we have enough).

I would probably be for settling '1W blue' next .

Jabah

I like blue where it is. It's the same spot I would've planted it while playing. We should still be able to build the lighthouse right since we're still on the lake right?

A lighthouse can only be built if you have salt water access (IIRC). Something about the salt heavy air enables its construction ...

Yep right, lightouse can only be built on salt water, union demarcation dispute I believe.

Blue dot can go 1W for that reason but it loses deer (which can be used by sparkling sea food) so no biggie.

You're right about capitals as well. Monty's sucks. If he hadn't founded Hinduism, I'd have wanted to raze it.

Monte's Buddhist, not Hindu :p

Congratulations, Berserks! No whip!

Except I am wondering what the hell the worker is doing SW of FoodCity instead of camping the deer or heading back to capital.

I am also wondering what the woodsman III warrior is doing in SparklingCrabs.

But not worth cracking my whip. :D

Adventures of Boreal Warrior

Our lone warrior was wondering down south, and spotted a hut. But a barb warrior is approaching ... hopefully the barb suicide into the warrior instea dof go protect the hut ....

Fox20-BC1550-hut-scout.jpg

And it did. The warrior was no longer lonely!

[party]

After spending a good night cuddling together in the (broke back) mountains, they parted way. The scout went exploring the west, while the warrior heal and headed west.

Unfortunately, as the old saying goes, "easy come easy go". The scout met its demise at the hands of a barb.

At least it fulfilled its role of nursing the warrior in its short lifespan.

Down south, the warrior leave the disheartening news of the scout's mishap behind, and found another hut.

"Woosh, my dear Queen, these enemies are sloppy. Leaving huts lying around just outside their borders? :nono:"

He claimed the hut ... only to find them hostiles!

Uh-oh ... no wonder Cyrus leave the hut alone. Let's pray these hostiles go harrass Cyrus instead ...

Fox20-BC1400-hut-hostile.jpg

... nope. But miracle does happens. The woodsman III survived the onslaught, and promptly continued to capture a Persian slave for his own.

Fox20-BC1325-worker.jpg

Can he bring his prized capture back to safety?

Stay tune.

In the other news

We are uncultured.

Fox20-BC1475-Cultured.jpg

So what.

Better to be lucky than to be cultured. :hammer:

Fox20-BC1450-Horses.jpg

Jesus Christ. I am this close to declaring this game void ... our starting location is simply too good!!!

I go for sailing next. That's right. Sailing.

Why? For one, we need it to connect the silver back to capital to deal with the soon-to-be unhappy faces. For another, since you guys wanted the next city to be salty, we need sailing for lighthouses.

After the settler is out, I promptly revolt to slavery and build a monument.

Fox20-BC1425-Slavery.jpg

The idea is to whip away the unhappiness, but the monument came in just in time to deal with that. So, no whip needed and we are now at size 8. I am delaying growth by producing another worker to speed up improvements. By the time the worker is out, sailing should already be in and we can grow to size 9 with silver connected.

Fox20-BC1350-Tolosa.jpg

From Tenochitilan, I sent two Gaellics down south, and found Sitting Bull ... well, sitting there.

Fox20-BC1375-SittingBull.jpg

After pillaging a camp and a farm, Sitting Bull decides to quit sitting and sent out an archer. Ha. Bad mistake.

The Gaellic Warriors charged, and Poverty Point is Poverty no more.

Fox20-BC1225-razed-city.jpg

But damned!!! I hate this!!!

Frustrated, I call it a day.

 is it just me or got the warrior cover from a brandnew forest just in time? :D

Why does every BtS Fox game haves the partisan event? :gripe: well , not exactly a big issue... more XP

Wow, that's a cool smiley!

@mystyfly: The hut is in a forest, so yes, it does seems like the forest just "grows " in time to cover the brave man when the hut disappears

No kidding, especially on a Boreal map this capital is just insane. The always war setting is supposed to be harder than a standard game right?

lurker's comment:

Wish we had such a capital back in PH08...

Sailing duly arrives after I look around our cold empire and press enter. You couldn't play one lousy extra turn GF :p

Civ4ScreenShot0000-1.jpg

I dial up Mathematics at a hefty 28 turns at 50% research. We need some pillagin' money.

I raze Cahokia but 5 dog soldiers (death to gallic warriors) appear as guerillas in the process. Do you know how much I hate this event? Bye bye invasion force.

Civ4ScreenShot0001-1.jpg

Sure enough we're dead.

I play until 900BC.

Sitting Bulls last city will be a beeatch to take down. We may need catapults. I started some chariots as they will take down the DSs but there is still an archer there as well. We may want to divert attention to Cyrus.

Civ4ScreenShot0002-2.jpg

Bibracte is building a library so we can employ a scientist or two to stifle growth.

Maths in 8 @70%.

Looks good. Catapults aren't too far away, so attacking at lowish odds can probably be avoided. I'm glad to see Cahokia is in ruins :goodjob:

I believe rolo is up.
