Fox08 - The Bad Joke Continues

Wow. I thought when I came back to check here we'd be toast. But we're not! Thank Blake that we are facing AI's!

Well, I need a skip joke again. So, here it is:

Why did it take three burly Boy Scouts to help the old lady across the street to meet Rolo's chicken?
Spoiler :
Because she didn't want to go.

skip me please ~ i haven't even had time for PH09 yet, though I may get to it today. I won't be able to play until tomorrow night (about 24 hrs) so if you want to grab it, fox, i'll play after you ~

Bad Joke
Spoiler :
A man with a parasitic worm in his intestine went to his doctor for help. The doctor asked him to return the next day with a chocolate bar and a cookie.

Perplexed, the man did so the next morning. The doctor shoved the chocolate up into the man from-where-you-know, waited a minute, and then shoved the cookie up. He then asked the man to return the next day with the same thing.

This continue for a week, then the doctor told the man that tomorrow would be his last day of treatment. For that, instead of a chocolate bar and a cookie, he is to wait bring along a chocolate bar and a wedge hammer.

The man grasped, "A hammer????"

So, on the faithful last day, he brought along the chocolate and the hammer, dreading what is going to happen. And expectedly, the doctor shoved the chocolate up you-know-where, and waited for a minute.

Nothing happens.

Another minute passed. The doctor picked up the hammer and waited.

Yet another excruciatingly long minute passed.

A head pops out from the man's you-know-where, and asked "Hey, where is my cookie?"

The Boring Turnset

Nothing much happens. We got Corporation and continued with Assembly Line, then to Electricity.

I was waiting for Izzy to ask for help again, but alas:

fox08-AD1780-relations.jpg

They made peace and we became Toku's most hated enemy.

We got a stupid event again, and somehow, the Random Spirit asked for gold somewhat higher than we have. :gripe:

fox08-AD1790-event.jpg

Speaking of which, we shouldn't reduce science slider (since commerce would go through the beaker multiplier, which is higher than the hammer multiplier). Instead, we should change to produce wealth when we are almost out of money. Well once Assembly Line came in, I produced wealth for a few turns before starting Assembly Plant. I upgraded one infantry and the rest should see us through 100% research for some while.

AssPlant does add 1 unhealthiness, fortunately (or unfortunately) we do not have coal (yet, as I foresee we would eventually inevitably raze that HRE city), so it is only 1 unhealthiness. This is compensated by the Merchant:

fox08-AD1802-merchant.jpg

Remember the episode of Izzy asking us for help? Well, the opportunity may arise yet again, as Gilgamesh declared on her. She rapidly lost 2 cities. So, do agree when she asked.

fox08-AD1810-gilgamesh.jpg

Hmmm ... someone should brief Gilgamesh our plan. He is taking Izzy's line!

The tech situation, we may be able to help Izzy a bit and sell her Rifling.

Next up should pursue the Industrialism then Steel > Artillery > Rocketry path, or (I recommend) the Computer path to unlock labs first.

I don't know about either. For wonders, they are pretty useless as they give artists points, something we don't want. For troops, currently it takes 3 turns to produce an infantry, whereas only 110 gold to upgrade a rifleman to infantry. It may be better to simply produce wealth (since we are producing ~50+ gold per turn).

The wonders are pretty useless for OCC and wasted hammers. The only two wonders I would consider in the future are Cristo Redentor (Radio) and obviously the Space Elevator (Satellites + Robotics). And yes, we should try to trade Izzy Rifling for Steel...

^^We fear you're becoming too advanced..... the overlay that AI puts on redlined techs in the trade table if you passed a certain number of tech trades with them.

P.S And by the way, welcome to the CFC forums ( I always wanted to say that.... ) ;)

Thanks!

And aha - guess just a bad acronym...should be WFYBTA (no 'A' between YB) :p

This SB thing looks pretty fun, though I think I'll need to work on my single player a bit more before I jump in, as I haven't tried any of the much harder difficulties. At a point now where I can win just about any game (completely random start with random civ) on Noble. Also guess I'd need to get Warlords and BtS (or just BtS??) as I'm still playing with the base game.

Heh, there is an "A", it is actually "We Fear You Are Becoming Too Advance". AFAIK, it is not only techs you trade with the AI. It is all techs you get from trading (no matter from who).

Just BtS will do (Firaxis will probably put a bounty on my head), since BtS contains everything Warlords has and much more. Only exception is the scenarios.

Welcome, Trynthlas. I find playing SG the best way to improve your game, plus it adds longetivity. I probably won't play as many SP games as I'd played SGs.

Last post here to stop the OT in your thread...

Just from reading a few threads here, I would definitely agree with your statement that SGs are a much better way to improve one's game - are many SGs non-insane difficulty level?

@Trynthlas:

Welcome :hatsoff: . You'll find anything from Noble to Deity SGs here, so I guess you should just jump into one and see how you like it. Some SGs are closed shops though as some players like to play with a core group they know. This has not so much to do with hostility as with knowing about reliability and playing skill. Just give it a shot, it's great fun (and most of all being :whipped: by Fox :D ).
