Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I don't think the details of how or why moderators might be forcibly retired need to be discussed here. Suffice to say that it's a sufficiently rare occurrence not to require the existence of detailed rules governing how to do it.

Also, contrary to popular belief, goldfish have pretty good memories (for fish, at least).

Is there a guide or article on how to add to / enhance posts ? I'm referring to breaking up quotes , posting pics and videos , making a link to another site into a nice little "this" like people do etc etc.

As opposed to crawling through the FAQ ?

EDIT . Thanks Lucy

Sometimes a ban notificiation says "The ban will be lifted some day at 11:00 a.m." But it 11:35 or something before the ban is lifted. Why does this happen?

Different time zones.. an also I think a moderator has to manually unban you.

That time is an approximation, to the nearest hour I believe. The actual ban is lifted exactly when the duration of the ban ends. So, if you were banned and 11:59 on Saturday and got a week ban, the ban will end 7 days later at 11:59.

Moderators do not have to manually unban people except when a ban is lifted early or other extenuating circumstances are involved, such as a perm ban being lifted.

I didn't know that was possible. I thought permabans were, well, permanent.
No, if you complain enough you can sometimes get it reversed.

What do you mean by "complain"? Could it be interpreted as "spam"? :mischief: But I didn't think you could anything reversed by simply complaining.

Probably prove that it was unjust.

How can you spam if you are banned?

The only way to return early from a ban, permanent or otherwise, is of course to overturn the infractions against you.

How can you complain to the mods if you're banned?

Via PM. An of course, you are not complaining. You are explaining to them, politely, how on this occasion they may have accidentally misinterpreted the rules ;)

Then you could spam the mods through PM. Now just in case the mods are getting ready to give me a warning of sorts, I am NOT advocating it. :)

Has there ever been a case to IP ban a user? I mean a real person, not just a bot.

IPs are dynamic these days. An IP ban can't be certain of blocking a determined person.

I think they once blocked half a country because of a particularly annoying member
