Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Sorry if this has been answered before, but what's the difference between minor and major infractions? Is it just the points totals, or are there other factors?

How do you indent in a reply? My tab key doesn't work :(

This is a test paragraph. I don't know if it will work. This is a test paragraph. I don't know if it will work. This is a test paragraph. I don't know if it will work. This is a test paragraph. It indents the entire paragraph though. I guess there is no easy way to indent the first line only? The length of a line depends on the browser window's size as well, so I don't know a way to do it otherwise.

Sometimes after a tempban I turn de-invisible. Why?

I'm usually invisible and not in the active user lists but the setting is changed

I imagine being invisible is not a privilege banned people get, so the setting is "reset" to the normal when you get banned, and you will have to manually hide yourself again once unbanned.

Why would you ever want to hide?

Stalkers. Serious.

It also indents from the top and the other side, which sort of defeats the purpose of the indent.

Is it possible to be retroactively infracted for a new rule?

For example, someone makes a thread and posts about ... let's say, a certain subject. Later, a rule is made that says you're not allowed to post about that subject. Somebody goes and bumps the old thread. Will the person get infracted?

Not sure of the legal term, but I doubt the mods and the admins would punish posters of an activity that happened in the past that is now presently infracable.

No, but it's likely that the thread would be closed and if the person who bumped the thread was the person who started the thread and the person who started the thread knew of the new rule, then, yes, an infraction may be issued.

But in general, I don't know of a time when CFC has ever instated an ex post facto rule nor do I think that would happen.

If that happens, just PM the moderator who issued the infraction and point out the date/timestamp on the post and include a reminder that the certain subject was not forbidden at the time it was originally posted. The moderator should then reverse the infraction and issue a nice apology.

Did we just gotten another bot attack? Since the servers were busy not to long ago :hmm:
