Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Common sense actually isn't all that common. Also remember this is an international site. So what's common sense in one country is not in another.

Only if asking questions that are oblique attacks on another member can be treated as trolling.

Good, I can start reporting them and expect action, rather than getting my satisfaction by replying in an oblique manner...

I suggest that this thread be recycled as the spam thread it has become and we can all watch our pc drop in a big way.

But then where can I ask questions with out making threads,

But moderators sometimes dont check their PMs

But most of us do. I do, at least every couple days (I haven't seen an FAQ question here that requires a more urgent response), so if nothing else just send them to me.

And now back on topic about asking questions: When you report a post, is the reporter anonymous?

Also, some statistical questions that don't even have to be answered: On average, how many reports a day are made? (The answer wouldn't need to be precise. Basically, does it range somewhere in the hundreds?) Likewise, how many infractions are handed out?

:nope:

No real statistics available.

As examples (dates = date of last reply):
Yesterday (1st): 26 reports
31st: 19 reports
30th: 11
29th: 5
28th: 13

Infractions:
1st: 23 (includes 10 bots)
31st: 15 (5 bots)
30th: 11 (3 bots)
29th: 9 (6 bots)
28th: 5 (1 bot)

Highest report count which i can remember has been more than one page (>45) per day around the Civ5 release.
Currently it's relatively silent.

Okay, just curious. And now that I think about it, I can see why: Report button abuse.

Thanks. Another 'just curious' one.

If you quote someone who uses a large image in their post and you want to quote the whole post is it ok to snip the image if you mention you do so.

I would think you could, but I myself prefer to spoiler them.

Whenever I have reported something it will say when I am writing the report, "logged in as classical_hero". That way it stop people reporting things so they can be pains, since I assme you can get infracted if you abuse the report system.

I usually just write "troll" or "flame" as if the moderator couldn't guess anyway.. :crazyeye:

#edit: Is that ok? Or should I be more detailed? Can I simply send a blank report?

I usually pick "trolling", "flaming", and "spam", along with an additional short write-up.

In less obvious occasions, it's helpful to state why you think a post is breaking a rule instead of just writing troll or flame. In some instances, a reporter's reasoning goes a long way in persuading us to act.
