Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I'm still getting the Domino's pizza banner ad that stops the page from loading. Has anyone tried to fix this?

Yes, I have the same problem with my Android phone. The ad prevents the page from loading. Reloading the page usually causes a different ad to be loaded.

This seems to be a problem with the ad or a problem with the CFC site failing to continue loading the page after the ad.

Using ad block modules is not the proper solution for all problems with ads. This ad is simply not functioning correctly. Stopping CFC content from flowing not a good way for Domino to get good will from CFC members.

That ad sometimes prevents my page from loading, even with the built-in adblock on my iPad's current browser.

It happens mostly on my phone, but it has happened in my IE browser on my computer less frequently.
You could always use a computer.
Ok ok. I understand you are trying to offer suggestions. But really, do you not see that when we report a problem with the website, that telling us to use the website differently does nothing to fix the problem? The same goes for the constant 'get adblock/whateverrandomsoftware' tips. They are appreciated, but again it's a bit off-base. We're reporting problems and asking if they've been fixed, not soliciting ways to change the way we use the website or asking for new programs to install to get around the problem that shouldn't be there to begin with.
:)

Your advice is still appreciated though, thank you.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but are there any plans to upgrade to vBulletin 4? That would be IMO a great facelift for the forums, and the new features in vBulletin 4 would be quite nice.

If OP to a thread asks that people don't comment on a specific thing, and somebody does anyway, is that a moderator thing? It's not technically breaking the rules but it does make the thread annoying. See here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=491549

Report the post and we'll have a look.

I checked the link, he was only commenting on the development cycle, so I would not have done anything in that case, if you were wondering?

Actually I was thinking about how a few of the other Windows 8 threads have gotten .... derailed, essentially. I won't name anyone but I'm concerned about that happening again.

You can use the [IMG][/IMG] tags, if that's what you mean.

Size. Youtube-old retains the smaller player size, the 'new' tag expands it and sometiems deforms the image.

I didn't know there was a change. I was really hoping the 'new' tag would allow us to just paste in the entire link provided by the 'share' button on YouTube instead of having to trim it down to the last alphanumeric code. Alas, I was disappoint.

Is there any way to actually post pictures in a social group? Or is that counter (and the "allow albums" option) there just for laughs?
I'm not sure how the albums work here; if I'm remembering correctly, don't album images have to be approved by moderators? Or am I thinking of something else they have to approve before it's allowed to be uploaded?

@Bowsling: The easiest way I've found is to use an image hosting service. Just copy the
tagged links into your post and you can post lots of pictures. :)

The albums don't work. I spent a lot of time trying to figure that out when I set up IaLS and never got it, and asked people and no one else got it either.

They may not have been enabled. This forum has a blog feature as well, which the admins decided not to enable.

I've seen both features on other vB boards, but in the past year or two, they've been disabled on most. The only reason I've got for removing blogs is because of spambots.
