Frequently Asked Questions

Lorewise, the Balseraphs follow the Stewards of Inequity. This is Mammon's religion, and it really isn't all that religious. Mammon prefer his worshipers not to realize they are worshiping him, but rather serving their own interests. It is secret society of unethical wealthy men plotting to stay wealthy at the expense of the poor, very similar to how conspiracy theorists view the Masons or the Illuminati.

The Stewards are most similar to and allied with the Council of Esus, but not as violent.

Mammon's archangel is the one giving nightmares to Danalin, and so s responsible for the Octopus Overlords. It is knows that the Balseraphs and Lanun are pretty close, so it makes sense for the Lanun religion to be common there too. Its madness would be appreciated by Perpentach.

Keelyn was raised by demons and her mother was Sheaim, so it makes sense for her to favor AV.

Perpentach's AI is weighted to prefer OO +25%, and to dislike the Order and Empyrean -20%. Keelyn prefers AV +10%, and has no other preferences.

I don't think those are percents, though, correct me if I'm wrong. I think that means that OO counts for 25 pop points even if they don't have it in any cities when deciding which religion to adopt. Of course, the religion must still be present in a city for it to be eligible.

The way I interpreted it, the game simply viewed the amount of a religion present in you empire as the amount of population with the religion (assuming that religions are evenly distributed in cities so a city with pop would have 3 of each religion) x (100+X)/100, where X is the religion weighting. Thus, a -100 weighting would mean it would view the religion as not being present in any cities even if it is in all of them, thus making it impossible to adopt the religion. Lesser weightings would only effect the AI, as it prefers the religion that most of its population follows after that formula is applied.

Q: Why are dark elves left handed, and how does this make their recon units better?

I don't know were to put it, but here it is. Several times, I've found/gotten maps to treasure chests. Of the 6 times I can remember, 1 was gold, 1 was empty, and 4 times was the Timor Mask. Is that all you get, or was I just unluckey?

Sinister does have two connotations in English, left handed and sneaky. They are related, I think, as left handed swordsmen were seen as dishonorable because they were harder (or at least different) to duel against.
So all that ties in if their stealthy units are more deft with blades in a beguiling manner.

I've only had two. One was a small amount of Gold (24 I think - very depressing!). But, I'm pretty sure I got a Great Bard in one because I remember it was damn hard getting him all the way back across the Huge map to my civ.

One thing that is a little strange is when you get multiple instances of the same item. For example, in my current game I have 3 Jade Torches attached to 3 units. I would think these items should be unique and there should not be a bunch of them laying around to get from lairs, etc.

I'm interested as to what religions all the other leaders are weighted for..

What is an Ira?

Individual Retirement Account?

There is very little in the Civilopedia on this unit. I thought it might be a summoned unit from the Avatar of Wrath, but then I started seeing them elsewhere on the map.

How are they created? Spawned or Summoned?

Also, I had a new WorldSpell hit me and couldn't find it. My Spellcasting was disabled for 30 turns (Epic Speed). First time I saw that one - which civ is the cuprit?

Thanks.

An Ira is a demon of anger and hatred. Odio was leading an Army of Ira when Aeron had to withdraw his ara from him and let Kilmorph imprison him so the negotiations over The Compact could continue. The Ira presumably now follow the Avatar of Wrath. The Avatar can summon 4 of them at a time, and they are permanent summons. I don't know of another way for them to be created, expect in my version where I let you free Odio and he has a chance to spawn them from combat.

OK, thanks for the two responses, guys.

I didn't know the WorldSpell for the Amurites had been changed - I was expecting my mana nodes to disappear and be rebuilt.

On the Iras, you are probably right although I have found once created they don't just hang around the Avatar. They make their way around the map until killed. I found one as the sole defender of a barb city.

A pretty neat looking model for the unit, I think. :)

Q: Why are dark elves left handed, and how does this make their recon units better?

Comes from the Scottish pratcice of making stair the wrong lead the wrong way upto the keep entrance, so when an attacker comes up them he has his right hand, usual weapon hand, on the inside and close to the wall, so therby placing him at a disadvantage to his oponent who is the reverse.

Question.

Adding Dungeons via events, has anyone thought of how to do this?, so that dungeons are replaced over time by new ones?.

That's already in the game.
