Frequently Asked Questions

Doh!:), never noticed ( is their a pop up for this event?) and to lazy to look at the file!!.

Yes, it's the same as buying a map for a treasure chest. Except that you buy a map to a dungeon.

Ta, so thats two events ive yet to experience as Bannor, map to treasure chest and or spawn a dungeon, im assuming this is an epic dungeon rather than a normal variety?.

I'm pretty sure it's a normal dungeon. AFAIK all of the epic dungeons have proper names.

Just a question about the way this forum is set up...

I belong to several other fora that have a feature that shows you which posts are NEW and unread when you go into a particular thread.

Here, you do have a 'last visited' date and time, but, especially, if you have been away for a bit, it can be a little difficult going back and forth trying to find out where you left off.

So, is there a way to identify NEW posts in a thread that I am missing, or is this the way this forum design works?

Thanks

The little down arrow (triangle) to the left of the thread title will take you to the first unread post in the thread.

I don't use the default layout, so yours MIGHT be different, but at the top left corner of the first post on a page there is a "View First Unread" button if there are new posts, and it will focus the screen on the first unread one. Also above the forum name of the poster it states the date/time that they posted, and on the left of that is an icon which indicates if you have/haven't read the post yet.

Deceptively simple question.

Without going into details, does the guardsman promotion mean that that unit will ALWAYS defend? In previous versions, that promotion was a thorn in the side of me... as regular units could kill a guardsman unit by simply sending wave after wave of weak units, killing the guards, and then assassinating the rest...

If that is the case, then my uber strong golem could die :(

And also, even though I *could* check the civilopedia next time, to allow me to plan while away from the computer, angels aren't alive, aren't they?

[Edit]Yip. Defender promotion still means that the unit defends ALWAYS (which is rather sad :( I lost my golem... but I killed Basium... twice (!?)

And Angels are not alive. Which meant I couldn't command them to follow me :(

Nonetheless, the war was a massive victory... I lost 5-ish units, and Basium lost at least 60... and his capital, and yet he STILL won't capitulate -.-[/Edit]

I don't think that Guardsman guarantees your unit to defend, but it does increase the chance. And since your Golem was extremely highly promoted, it would likely be the best defender even after it was damaged.

Well... even if it was highly promoted, I had a fair few phalanxes which could take up the slack, and the Hero / Channelling II it had, would reduce the chance it defended the stack!!

Oddly, my Golem died, and it was the only unit to die! Most others were injured just beyond half health... so either it was extremely unlucky, or Guardsman still has "Always Defend" on...

At least my other guardsman is immortal...

IRA could be the demon-incarnets of angry Irish Freedom Militants;) (Or a Republican Army)

Forgot to mention earlier, and not sure if anyone else mentioned yet, but when you click on a thread to open it, clicking on the title of the thread or a page number takes you to the top of the page, but clicking on a little icon to the left of the thread title takes you to the first unread post for your account.

Also, clicking on the little arrow over on the right side of the page by the name of the person who made the last post will take you to the last post in the thread.

I know this may sound like a stupid question but I've read the manual and haven't found an answer so far.

Some units have a strenght value in the for of y/x such as: 19/21
What does it mean? 19 attack / 21 defense? or something else?

Two Questions:

1. Can an Infernal Ritualist see Stealth/Invisible units? Whenever I get near one with my Shadow, he sets off that Fire Spell of his. How would he know when to do this, or does the Ritualist use the spell every turn?

2. An Infernal Diseased Corpse is in a small stack with 3 Infernal Workers. Why is the target in the stack for my Shadow the Diseased Corpse? It does NOT have the Guardsman promotion.

I have also seen other examples of this where clearly the weakest unit on a tile is not being targeted by the Shadow, but the strongest. An example is Hyborem himself in a city with Diseased Corpses, Infernal Longbows (OK, I can see that maybe) and Imps. Why would a very strong Hyborem be the highlighted target for my Marksman Shadow?

Thank you

Workers (And I assume every unit with 0 strength), are no longer valid targets for assassination attempts. This is to make the Guardsman promotion valid (as previously, people used to carry giant stacks of workers, so that the assassins just pick the workers off)

Hyborem is a Hero, and as a result, gets a massive "Decreased chance to defend the stack" (Which I *think* means that the base strength of Hyborem is reduced to a HALF)

Unfortunatly, this means that he, when he is strong-ish, he acts as a decent guardsman unit, even without guardsman, as he draws the assassins to him (!!)

I killed Basium 3 times with that fact (And with the Nether Blade, of course)

As for not picking Imps... I dunno... thats odd.

And ritualists can't see those types of units, but I am not sure that the AI doesn't check to see if it can actually see the unit, when it takes into consideration when to use the Ring of Flames ability.

However, that said, Ring of Flames doesn't kill, just damages. Your shadows may be weak, but unless there is a way it gets detected, it won't die.

usually, hyborem would be a better defender than diseased corpses, even considering the hero promo, so would be picked first. However, as digit cruncher pointed out, the netherblade can seriously change that order, which is one of it's greatest strenghts (not that i complain about the +2 strenght though :p).

I've looked everywhere but I can't find what crime rate a certain city has?, is there any place in the info screen where I can find it, or is it an unknown stat?
