That is not true. When typing I have accidentally pressed that wrong key that is not even close to the letter I meant to press and I am wondering how it happened, so it can happen and it does happen.
That's true, I have a habit of mixing a and e for some reason.
What are these autocorrect about? Is it phone or some kind of pc instant messaging? Because I have in phone letters on the number bad, like "1 abc", "2 def" and so on. I thought first that these were SMSs gone wrong, and thought they were made up for that reason.
I'm pretty sure that 99% of the autocorrect things are made up.
It's supposed to be due to iPhone's predictive text feature. It's basically the same as the T9 dictionary on dumb-phones, just that smart-phones use qwerty instead. (It's necessary because the keys on the touch screen are pretty small and not tactile, so it's easy to hit the wrong key.) I'm guessing Americans never used predictive text before....
