Can someone explain to me how on earth this happened?

As i was steamrolling the greeks I noticed one of their caravels was stuck inside the land..

It looks like they built a fort there for the ship to hide in.

From the same game as the last screenshot. How much more do i have to suck up to old Genghis to get him to trade me his world map. He says "I don't like you enough" when hes friendly with me.

Luckily i have no need for his world map i just think that's a little preposterous.

You must be right, i conquered elizabeth and made her a vassal because of the war-weariness and other genghis would of made her his vassal.

Elizabeth is furious with like 3/4 of the world because almost everyone declared war and dog-piled her at one point or another.

There were alot of wars between the AIs this game and i dont even have aggressive AI on. It must be because i have Shaka, Genghis khan, and Alexander in the same game. However even the peaceful leaders declared war like crazy usually.

You can bring ships onto land inside a fort, as the fort acts likes like a town. Likewise you can claim resources with forts.

the jungles are odd. theres never supposed to be a jungle in the fat cross.

That's not his starting spot. The settler started at 1S of the western corn or 1S of the fish if this is an island script which allows peaks in the BFC.

That's an advanced start game in the custom game options where you get to choose your starting spot, techs, units etc. at the expense of advanced start "points"(forgot the exact term) any unused points is converted to gold. It seems he made an advanced start game to demonstrate his explanation to the quoted post
